Re: [Repeater-Builder] East coast system?
I don't know what it sounds like from the East Coast, but out West, all four 10M Repeater pairs are effectively useless, with some repeater receivers in some locations hearing just fine while others are just barely hearing enough to kerchunk, playing the "time and date lady", and other amusing repeater speech of the Repeater talking to itself. Then, the skip changes slightly and you go through a repeat of the ones that weren't accessible before. And now with people trying to use 10-KHz repeater channel spacing, it's a Real mess, and they get upset sometimes with people using the standard 20-KHz Repeaters, complaining that they're kerchunking their 10-KHz non-bandplan repeaters in the process. The main reason for not using CTCSS on 10-Meter repeaters seems to be that the repeater owners have the excuse "most of our users don't have sub-audible tone in their radio, so they can't use the repeater if we put it in tone squelch." One group said "we can't make a PL Decoder work at this site." When we offered to help, they turned down our offer and left in in carrier squelch anyway. It _used_ to be fun! Every little town (or big City) does NOT need a 10-Meter Repeater! It's not just another band needing "filling up" because Repeaters are authorized there. RE: [Repeater-Builder] IFR 1200
You can buy in-line RF fuse holders; maybe the mod was using a chassis-mount RF fuse holder? I have one that is a regular (not chassis mount) BNC male to BNC female; I think it says Anritsu on it but was probably OEM'ed by someone else. JFW and Alan Industries also make RF fuse holders. I don't know how the BNC connector mounts on a 1200, and forget how it mounts on my 1500, but maybe you can find an in-line chassis mount one that would fit. Do some web searches for Alan Industries or JFW and you might find what you need. You can get external ones like I have from HP, Anrtisu, Tek, etc.. Might be an easier solution than trying to fit one inside the box. --- Jeff Jeff DePolo WN3A - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Broadcast and Communications Consultant > -Original Message- > From: Chuk Gleason [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Thursday, June 03, 2004 5:40 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com > Subject: [Repeater-Builder] IFR 1200 > > > Regarding IFR 1200, and maybe the COM 120; > > Several years ago I heard about "someone" who had developed a > pico-fuse holder antenna input for the 1200; kinda like is in > the M. Re: [Repeater-Builder] East coast system?
Hey John, I do not under stand your question. The ten meter repeater is stand alone most of the time unless some one turns the link from 144,222,440,927 and 1240 on to it. It runs 200 watts to a 3 dbd omni at about 429' on the tower. The two receiver sites one is at 100' and has a dipole and stie number two is at 354' useing a 2.5 dbd qusi omni folded dipole side mounted to a tower. The repeater works well and runs PL. So SPAM? Please make this a bit clearer as to your question so I may answer it better. 73 Russ, - Original Message - From: "JOHN MACKEY" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Saturday, June 05, 2004 11:36 PM Subject: Re: [Repeater-Builder] East coast system? > Russ- > > Is this the same system that broadcasts all the spam type conversations from > the other bands on to 10 meters during band openings? > > > "russ" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > Hello All, > > GEE! [Repeater-Builder] MSF 5000 Internal Duplexer Tee?
Question for the group with those familiar with MSF 5000 repeaters, specifically the UHF ones with internal filtering: The "Duplexer Tee", the little silver block about 1 inch square that connects between the receiver and transmitter filter output and gives you your antenna connection is available in several different flavors. Mine is the one with the green band around one of the connections. It's the 435-475 "Transmit Low, Receive High, 5-20MHz" one. I recently retuned the station for a different pair, transmit high, receive low. The manual says I need the TLE5772B "Transmit High, Receive Low 5-20MHz" with the yellow band around one of the connections. How critical is this? Do I actually need it? I've got no clue how this thing works and I'm not familiar with this screwy MSF 5000 non- duplexer type way of duplexing. Am I going to damage anything by using the existing green banded "duplexer tee", or will I suffer any degradation of signal, or what's the story? I called Motorola Parts ID & Purchasing (800) 422-4210, and was told the TLE5772B is no longer available period. Whatsoever. Stop- bothering-us-cuz-you-aint-gonna-get-it-cuz-we-dont-got-it. Does anyone happen to have the one I need that would be interested in trading with me, or just selling it to me? Any help is appreciated. Please reply via e-mail or the thread. Thanks! Yahoo!
