Okay, Unlikley, but the problem nevertheless. Our preamp was fried on our site. Even though it seemed to be working fine for all of the other stations that are hooked up to it. How many ports do you need? I like the RC-210. Or, wait a few weeks for
the RC-810 which will have a ton of nice features.

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Problem of repeater after lighting striked RX antenna

2006-06-03 Thread Charles Miller
Muahhh,

We just had the same problem. Took out the antenna, jumper to the antenna
from 1 5/8 hardline, and arrestor.

System showed good vswr and worked pretty good. We did suffer damage to the
RF Final PA. At 50 watts no problem, but when the PA was fixed it would cut
back to about 100 watts out from 250 watts.

Thought we were going to need to replaced the 1 5/8 hardline. Did a little
more checking and found an ARC on the inside of the coax connector attached
to the arrestor. Cut back 1 on the hardline, installed a new connector, all
is working very well. Full power out, and 1.13:1 VSWR.

I hope this helps.

[Repeater-Builder] RE: Need a Motorola Publication...

2006-06-03 Thread Charles Miller
Motorola has completely redone the R-56 manual. It has more current
information and includes newer thought. It has alot more information than
ever.

I wish it was a little cheeper. I'm glad my employeer has a copy.

We are in the process of updating and upgrading all of our sites, and it
looks like it is going to cost about $500,000.00 to do. Our sites have not
had any upgrades in over 10 years, and some have grounding problems that is
now starting to cost us every time we get a storm in the area.

Good luck.
