[Repeater-Builder] Motorola radios on ham

[Repeater-Builder] MCC RC-100 and Remote Base PTT
Hi Folks, I have an MCC RC-100 that I've been using for the MADXRA 147.345 Repeater, here on the Panhandle of WV. Has been working just fine. We decided to add a remote base in order to link this repeater into a regional network. Everything hooked up fine, everything works fine, EXCEPT I can't seem to get Remote Base Xmit to turn on! Therefore no PTT to the link Xcvr. I've programmed the 4066 * code 25 times and whenever I use it, no xmit on! So as it stands I can turn remote base ON, get the 500Hz remote base tone, the Link Xcvr audio is being passed from the network to the 147.345 system, but you can't connect from the 147.345 repeater to the network cuz the Xmit on, won't turn on, and the Link Xcvr gets no PTT. Any ideas folks? I DO program the 4066 * code with 0X where X is a not restricted single digit. I've tried several different digits. (as a side note ny * codes for force ID, and Remote base OFF work just fine!). When I program the 4066 * code I DO get the RR in response. What am I missing? Anyone able to lend a suggestion? Thanks! RE: [Repeater-Builder] Motorola radios on ham
I have had good luck using GM300's...but I think that most of the radius series will do it fine. I don't think any of the moto radios are programmable without the software and the rib cable. The software is freely available on the internet, but is being distributed illegally. The rib cable is easily found on ebay. The only real catch to the programming is you need a really old computer to do it - something like a Pentium 122Mhz or slower (windows 95 computers and before). A fast PC will mess up the radio. The software runs on dosI have just made an boot disk in XP then booted the old PC with it, the swap out the floppy for the one that has the moto software. Look on the repeater builder website and there is a spot in there that lists how to decode the serial numbers to find out exactly what kind of radio you are looking for. My experience with moto has mainly been around GM300's as I use them in my repeater...and to maintain links/control links with our local club repeater system. Good luck. Re: [Repeater-Builder] Motorola radios on ham
VHF and UHF CDM series radios go with no mods at all. 136-174, and 403-470 MHz splits. XTS and XTL series go fine too if purchased in the proper range, if I am not mistaken, the CM/CP series (commercial series) will also go just fine. Some older stuff that goes would be the M1225 stuff, GM300's, Maxtracs, Maratrac (software hack usually). Hagler [EMAIL PROTECTED] 01/14/08 4:19 PM Hello everyone, I would like to buy a set of ICOM's for a MastrII repeater. We have one set now but would prefer not to lose those as they are already set on a useful frequency pair. So, I am trying to find a vendor that will sell me the whole ICOM (not just a crystal) which I can then have re-crystaled to the other frequency. If anybody has a pair of ICOM's to sell or any recommendations on a vendor who sells them I would be glad to hear about it. Thanks much, Mark Hagler W7WMH Seattle

Hey Brent, the spectras, maratracs work fine. They require dos software, but they do work There are a few other ones as well. What you looking to do, vhf or uhf? [Repeater-Builder] Hamtronics TB901 Exciter
Hello All, I'm looking for input on the Hamtronics TB901 900mhz exciter. I have two 900mhz repeaters that are responsible for the linking of 14 other UHF machines together. I would like to have an on the shelf backup exciter. The exciters that I presently use are Quintron / Glenayre Universal exciters (200mw) and I haven't been successful in finding anymore. I have access to a TB901 and would like to order some crystals from Bomar. (not interested in the crystal company debate, that's just who I use) Does anyone have the particulars for ordering replacement crystals for these exciters? Also, does anyone have experience with adding PL to the TB901? I believe I read on RB that some mods were needed on the 2 meter, 220, and UHF versions. Thanks in advanced... Adam N2ACF
[Repeater-Builder] Manual
Does anyone have a service manual for a Ramsey COM-3 service monitor? I have one that works but the signal output falls off at lower frequencies. It is fine above 700 MHz but drops 15 db at 150 MHz. I would certainly pay for a copy. Thanks, Jack K6YC

Brent I have a 475 that I can view hertz on two meters. I can actually see if the sine wave is distorted by harmonics or what. It is old but works well. 73 de Tom Manning, AF4UG - Original Message - From: Jed Barton To: Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, January 15, 2008 9:52 AM Subject: Re: [Repeater-Builder] Motorola radios on ham Hey Brent, the spectras, maratracs work fine. Has anyone any info to hookup an old CSI 32 to a pair of GM 300's.
Re: [Repeater-Builder] Motorola radios on ham
The CDM series are good radios and they have large heat sinks for us talkative hams. Speaking of Motorola radios, has anyone been able to convert a new series radio to six metres? Still a few companies left making low band radios but the frequency stops at 50 Mhz and according to the service shop they cannot stretch like the old radios did. [Repeater-Builder] Re: MCC RC-100 and Remote Base PTT
Yes I did, and NO it doesn't, but then I would not expect it to (at this point) since the Remote Base Xmt ON command is not being accepted. The real issue isn't why no PTT, but Why won't the RC-100 either accept the programming of 4066, or maybe why isn't it accepting the on command when sent? --- In Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Did you check the logic level driving the PTT transistor ? [Repeater-Builder] Re: MCC RC-100 and Remote Base PTT
Let me further clarify the previous. When I turn Remote Base Xmt ON, I'm expecting the Remote Base Tail Beep to go from 500Hz (Xmt OFF) to 1Khz (Xmt on). That never happens, thus I believe that the xmt is never coming on, so the PTT transister never gets the drive from the CPU. --- In Repeater-Builder@yahoogroups.com, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Did you check the logic level driving the PTT transistor ? Re: [Repeater-Builder] Motorola radios on ham
Most of the newer Motorola radios are like that. If the band is X to Y, forget about taking it to Y.005. The radio will do it, but the SW will not. I wish I could get a 27 MHz spread out of an HT750 to do 444-473 MHz. So far, nobody has been able to do it. I just programmed a radio yesterday that was 450-470. The guy wanted a couple of ham repeaters in it (444r-449t). Wasn't going to happen. Motorola has become very ham unfriendly anymore. Joe M. RE: [Repeater-Builder] Re: MCC RC-100 and Remote Base PTT
Mike, Make sure your manual is for the rev software that Ron shipped to you. There are differences in what he's shipped over time. I have two manual copies for different revisions of the RC-100 here and there are changes in the remote base command area. What is the rev of your controller? Ron does frequent this list. Maybe he'll chime in. There used to be an MCC-Controllers group on Yahoo, but I don't know if it is still there. If you've programmed say a 6, you must enter #6 on the dtmf to enable the tx (actually it toggles between Tx on and off). You are using the # prefix?
