[Repeater-Builder] Micor mobile manual/schematic sought

Subject: micor mobile exciter schematic nospamk7iou

Does anyone have a micor mobile (Trunked) manual? I need a schematic
for the exciter (TLD8262B) as our repeater has a different model
exciter due to the DVP. Since the 220 MHz conversion was done on the
mobile exciter I need the schematic to convert it our exciter.

[Repeater-Builder] Mitrek ID needed

2005-03-09 Thread Budd Turner

From a friend. Please respond to Doug offlist with the addy supplied
at end.
Thanks.
==

Hello,

I have a Mitrek, Model # J34JJA6100AK, Chassis # HUE1006A. While
this seems to be a 30 watt UHF radio, the frequency range and the
required channel elements are a bit of a mystery. My Motorola Mitrek
book does not identify this item and my search on the WEB produced
nothing different than the numbers I have in the Motorola Book.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Doug

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Spectrum Communications

2004-05-08 Thread Budd Turner : N7EOJ

Hi Joe:
You just hit the "shock awe" button for this group.
Yes the company is still in business. It has the worst reputation of any I have encountered. Kevin Schaeffer is the only person you can communicate with. You quickly realize he is a snake oil and used car specialist

When I mentioned Rectum Cons. on this group, traffic quadrupled for almost a week. I immediately received not several, but many, emails with similar stories. Mostgave me the name, phone number and email to a specific agent in the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office that was handling similar cases against the company.
My personal experience started ~9 months ago, and lasted7 months. I was talked into resurrecting an SCR1000 with a long history of problems. (Had I been a member of this group then I wouldn't have touched the SCR1000)
I sent the exciter PA for repairs.Kevin initially said it needed a new exciter ($250) and they would retune the PA for free. Then it was $350. After many unanswered emails and phone calls, Kevin said they had to do extra work requiring the additional charge. He then charged my Visa $450. After many unanswered emails and phone calls over a three month period I had Visa reverse the charges. That resulted in Kevin screaming onmy phone at 5:00 AM thefollowing morning.
After another month of negotiating, I said I would not pay any more than the justified $350. When I received the Transmitter section back, seven months after sending to them, it lacked the crystal oven Kevin said is standard on their exciters.Transmit power is 12-18 Watts with the claimed 30 Watt PA.
I decided to accept it as having been screwed and not bother with further deception and irritation.

[Repeater-Builder] Re: Spectrum Communications SCR1000 VHF

2003-11-27 Thread Budd Turner

FWIW: I posted on here a couple of months ago expressing regrets I had not seen all the Spectrum bashing before I acquired for resurrection, a Spectrum SCR-1000 220 repeater. I received plenty of cards letters from everyone with an opinion. (Ever see a ham without an opinion? I used to think that was a license requirement.I get the impressionthat is now the only requirement...But I digress.)
BTW, Coy, over half of the incoming email was regarding legal actions against Spectrum and included contact information for the PA. Attorney General's office and other cases pending.I sent the exciter PA to Spectrum inAugust. The previous owner sent the PA to them to be tuned to the INPUT frequency of the repeater!!! I figured that was why it locked up and burned up the exciter.
Kevin Schaefer, "Spectrum Sales Manager",advised they would retune the PA free, since I was getting a replacement exciter ($250).Odd how the only person I can contact at Spectrum is Kevin Schaefer.
"Total cost would be ~$250-$275."
Next conversation, (three weeks later), Kevin said it was going to cost "$325 to no more than $350". I approved the charge to my Visa, since I was committed this far.
Three weeks later, when the Visa statement arrived, Spectrum had charged $432.50.
I emailed and voice-mailed Kevin several times over the next two weeks, with no response. I copied Spectrum on an email to Visa to reverse the over-charge due to lack of response from the merchant.
At 5:00AM the next morning Kevin was on the phone, screaming. We went the gamit of how they lose money dealing with hams, to he wasn't responsible for the over-charge but "would try to get the owner to approve refunding some of the money."
Two weeks later Kevin called to report he had talked the owner into refunding $50 of the overcharge.
Three months after sending to Spectrum and I still don't have the exciter PA back.
I am eagerly awaiting my Visa statement to see if Spectrum has done anything.
That covers their business practices. The quality of their work remains to be seen.

Coy:
Responses on this forum have been so numerous and strong. They seem to have overwhelmed my offer of SCR-1000 documentation. Or maybe you have just been too busy responding to the firestorm you generated by asking if anyone had SCR-1000 documentation.
If you are still up to the challenge and not scared away by all the bad reports, I'm re-offering copies of all my docs. Misery needs company and I'd like to have someone else to commiserate with as we try to get these things back on the air.
When things get quiet or the weathercold, we can post an occassional Spectrum statement, then stand back and warm our hands to the resultantfirestorm.

Happy Holidays 73 to all
