of the belief that both of us were fished while on the laptop i bought for mom.
i thought i installed spybot SD but i guess not. as soon as i can get her off
of Farmville for a few minutes i will fix that.

thanks again everyone.

I haven't read all of the relies on this, but I also haven't read that there is
proof that your computer actually sent the messages. All that is needed is your
email address int he reply-to field in the message header and you get the
blame. I own and operate a mid-sized web hosting company and we deal with spam
issues daily. Recipients running anti-spam software that rejects and sends back
to the real sender actually end up causing backscatter and getting their own IP
blacklisted. SPAM will never end...

[Repeater-Builder] Sorry everyone

2010-08-11 Thread Dave E Stephens Sr
so i got on here this morning and found out that I had sent out a mass email to
everyone in my address book with a link to some website. Funny thing is that
when this email was sent, I was butt deep in the Applegate River with my family
(a location that doesn't even get cell coverage).

this same thing happened to Liz (my better half) just a couple days ago and now
that it has happened to me, i have figures out where my account info leaked
from.

I am very sorry to all of you.

2010-02-11 Thread Dave E Stephens Sr
yeah it's possable. i built a couple years ago before i became a ham. both were
split site and linked using a couple GE 4 watt handhelds sitting somewhere on
one of the VHF hiband itinerant channels. the first one was ch 1 in and 38 out
and all am cause i used Cobra 29's for the transmit and recieve. it didnt work
to well really. the second one was way better. i used Connex 3300's for the
trans and recieve. these rigs were FM and would go out of band. i used 26.995
(Between ch 3 and 4) with a 103.5 in, and 27.385 (ch 38) out. that one worked
great.
the only reason i did these was because about 10 of us were running RCI-2950's
and 2990's and they could do an offset. and plus we were board.

I have heard numorous urban legends of 27 MHz CB repeaters being built.

has anyone ever come across such a thing. if not does anyone think it is
even possible from a technical standpoint?

the limitations are AM mode, and using any of the 40 CB channels with 4
watts PEP AM or 12 Watts PEP SSB ie: using completely un modified type
certified CB gear.

Legally a repeater is illegal on CB, but i just want to do an excersize in
thought as to what problems someone may run into with such a project, etc.

i have seen this questioned asked numorous times through the years and even
heard rumors of it actually being done.

no one though has actually went deep into the technical aspects of such a
project or could point me out to the people who are operating or operated
such a setup.

Thanks,

2009-07-25 Thread Dave E Stephens Sr
sounds a bit petty to me.

you know, the last time i checked, we were all here to provide emergency
communications when needed. not to get out there and form clicks. i have had
repeaters before and it cost me money, money i didnt really have.

if you alone want to put up a repeater, then you pay to do so. if you cant
afford it, then dont. why should anyone else pay for your hobby.

either way, just remember (and it seems that there are to many people out there
that have forgotten) we are here for one reason, and one reason alone... to
provide a service to others when all else fail.

That’s not the issue here and you know it.

Let’s see you spend your money to finance a repeater and see how you feel when
individuals fail to respect the rules you set forth.

In the meantime, if you’ve got something to say, have the guts to sign your

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Homebrew low power Repeater

2009-05-19 Thread Dave E Stephens Sr
i built a low power (in band) repeater using 2 IC-2at's and a NHRC-2 controler.
that thing worked great for a 3 watt repeater. now you can do the same using a
2, 3, or 4 a, or at walkie. its rather simple. to be honest, if you have the
knowledge to pass the tech ham test, you can build this. start off with the
NHRC-2 controller. read how the thing works and then get the 2 walkies. trust
me. its easy

Hello:
I would like to build a low power 5 watt crossband repeater for 2m/440 use. I
recall seeing this set up using 2 HT's, also 2 mobile rigs.
Has anyone built something to suit my needs, or are there kits available ?
Thank you

Re: [Repeater-Builder] Silver plating copper

2009-04-21 Thread Dave E Stephens Sr
are you trying to plate these parts yourself? cause if so, well, you might as
well forget it. take it somewhere and have it done. the reason being is that it
is done using a cyanide-based solution. it was tough to get before 9-11, now,
forget it.

now there is Immersion Silvering but that wouldnt work well enough to make a
differance (i believe) in performance from the duplexer...

just fine yourself a company that will do it for you. you're better off (my
opinion)

Has anyone got any data, or access to the electroplating properties
concerned with silvering the internals of copper duplexer.

I have just purchased the bible but sad to say there is very little effort
put into what is needed/required in the process of electroplating
with silver.
