[Repeater-Builder] Maratrac

2004-12-29 Thread MZFB

Hi all
I wonder if someone has a print of the audio section of a VHF Maratrac receiver. I just need the part that would cover from the Discriminator to speaker output. I have a Maratrac receiver that will not pass audio other than white noise. It has not been modified and just stop working in the middle of a transmission. Transmit audio is fine and the Vol and Squelch controls will control the white noise however no modulated audio will pass. I have some points to check but I need the print out to locate the audio chain.
Thanks in advance
Mike

[Repeater-Builder] info

2003-12-04 Thread MZFB

Hello all
I know this is a bit off the Topic but does anyone have a service manual on a Lowband MT1000 42-50 mhz.  Looking for transmitter alignment procedure.

Also does anyone have a cutting  chart for a rubber duck lowband MT1000 or lease approximate at 51.xxx mhz for the portable.

I've check Batlabs but didn't find much

Thanks in advance
Mike

I am really glad to see the Tripler diagram put on  the web. Do you you have the parts indentified by value somewhere?
  Thanks

[Repeater-Builder] Re: off topic

2003-12-18 Thread MZFB

This message refers to the Channel Elements for the Motrac/Motran

You could check with ICM they have complete listing of all the Channel Elements for Motorola equipment.  Give them the type of equipment IE Motran/Motrac and the Band the unit is in and they should be able to give you a part nr and channel element.  I have been dealing with them for years and have bought elements through r them for the Motran/Motrac.

[Repeater-Builder] Re: Micor Digest2326

2004-01-18 Thread MZFB

Bob
Verify that you have the correct voltages as Kevin suggested. The Micor uses a tripler amplifier and if it has a low output it will not key the PA. To verify that it.  Look on the front of the Micor shelf disconnect the left RF cable coming from Pa (output of the Tripler).  Connect a wattmeter with a dummy load to the BNC connector of the Tripler (not the PA cable). You should see 1-2 watts when you key the transmitter from the station control. If not check the voltage going to the tripler should be 12volts.  You can check the exciter by removing the tripler and plugging a wattmeter in its place (1st band pass filter). Verify that you have RF there. This will be in the VHF range about a 1/2 watt or so. Do not rely on the fact that you can hear the exciter on your handheld. If you have RF at the exciter and nothing at the output of the Tripler and you haven't changed the original FREQ then you guess it the Tripler has gone south.  You must be very careful with these Triplers to insu
re you all ways have a load on the output i.e.: PA or dummy load. The Tripler can be repaired see the Repeater-Builders Web site. You can check the output of the Tripler stages by connecting a wattmeter or using RF probe on your voltmeter to check the different stages of the tripler. I've repair a couple of the Micor Triplers and they come back up and work fine.
Good luck
Mike

Bob
You are correct when you key the station control card you should see change on you meter.  However it sounds like your exciter is being keyed all the time. What cards do you have in this chassis? If you have a time out timer pull it. Also if this was a repeater pull the Squelch gate card. Continue on with what I told you earlier checking the tripler and rf stages.
Good luck
Mike

[Repeater-Builder] Repeater audio

2004-04-07 Thread MZFB

Hi all
I've been watching the threads on audio reproduction. I would like to go back to the orginal question that started all this, what is the best way to improve the audio being reproduced in a Micor repeater?
My repeater system is somewhat different than most, I am running a complet Motorola Micor system split site six meter repeater. The receiver site repeats the signal on a Micor 440 link transmitter  to the Micor six meter transmitter site ten miles away. The orginal Micor station cards are used at each site no controller interface.  If you were to listen to the audio from the transmitters at each site they sound okay. However  the audio out at the six meter transmitter after passing through the complete system needs some enhancement.
Thanks for any idears or comments in advance
Mike

[Repeater-Builder] Sinclair

2004-05-06 Thread MZFB

Has any in the group had any experience with tuning Sinclair duplexers model Q-202C?  The problem we are having with them is tuning them for a 600 KC split,  146.775 and 146.175. We can get one side to tune up to 146.775 and the other only to 145.800. The specs for these duplexers show that they should go to a 500 KC split without any problems. The person tuning these has the experience and the lab equipment to the job.
Thanks for any help in advance
Mike
