Re: [Repeater-Builder] Re: INTERFACE FOR CAT CONTROLLER
You can also use the MRTI connector and program the Quantar to give MRTI priority and be a base not a repeater. All signals are present on the DB25 on the rear of the chassis. The other way is by using the 50 pin telco connector on the rear and having the Wildcard option installed which is on or part of the Wireline Interfaceboard Also as NJ902 says, if your are wanting to pass or do P25 you use the DIU3000 between the Quantar and the external controller... Hope this helps... That way you can get features that the Quantar does not have such as voice ID's, courtesy tones, announcements and so on. There is a tab in the Quantar service manual called System Applications that shows how to make the connections for PTT, COR, Rx and Tx audio. To do this, the Quantar must have a wireline interface board installed. This also presumes that you are talking about analog only operation. If you want to do P25 digital or mixed-mode operation, you will require a DIU3000 to host the interface to an axternal controller. Yahoo! Groups Links Yahoo! Re: [Repeater-Builder] Micor 375 Watt TLD5082 question?
Steve and the group, The Micor had a power supply problem (low voltage ps) when it arrived. I fixed that problem and noticed it was low on output power, only putting out about 260 watts (only HA!).. I then re-tuned it on the original commercial frequency and it still made the same power. I then swapped out the tubes and re-tuned it and now big power... I then changed the exciter out for a ham band unit already tuned up and the driver PA made good power there as well but he final did not after several tuning attempts. The driver PA output is supposed to be set at 10 Watts according to the manual and that is what mine is set to. It made good power in the commercial at that drive so I see no need to overdrive the final... Hope this helps... Re: [Repeater-Builder] Micor 375 Watt TLD5082 question?
Joe and the group, I have a ham band exciter and a good 10 watts out of the driver PA, I just can't get more than 160 watts out of the final. My dip in the plate current is not so great and when I bring up the screen voltage the plate current flattens out and no more power is made. I got a little more out from the initial tune up by adjusting the antenna coupling but still 160 watts was the max... I do know that 400 watts is excessive but I was tuning for max power but still staying under my plate current limit. I brought the screen voltage back down when on the commercial frequency and left it at 350 watts or so for quite a while. The power stayed rock solid and the PA looked clean on the analyzer. Just wish it would go down a bit further without mods. Oh well I guess I will pull the plate line and see what can be done... Bryon K0BSJ At 12:13 PM 2/23/2006, you wrote: Byron, I have successfully moved a 375 watt station down to the 147 region. Check that your exciter is putting out the required drive pwr in the ham band. It was a long time ago but I think I converted the exciter into the lower band by just replacing the components indicated in the parts list. (the parts list shows frequency sensitive components). I don't believe any conversion was necessary for the AMP but the conversion was done about 20 years ago. By the way, that's excessive power. We run ours well below half power by turning the screen control down. Good luck. Joe Bryon Jeffers K0BSJ wrote: I have a Micor 375 Watt station that has the TLD5082 high power PA. Re: [Repeater-Builder] Dupelxer wierdness
Tim, First off lets go over some numbers... 38 watts = 45.8dB 16 watts = 42dB So 38 into the duplexer and 16 out is roughly 3.8dB loss not 7.5dB... I don't have a Motorola 2600 but I do have an IFR1500 and it doesn't always measure RF power anywhere close to what my Bird watt meter does... According to Sinclair http://www.sinctech.com/catalog/series.aspx?id=343 you should see no more than .8dB loss through the duplexer... Your 28 watts which is 44.5 dB is showing about .3dB loss which seems a little too good but is closer than 3.8dB loss When I see that kind of power gain by tuning the duplexer with low TX power going through it I usually associate it with the fact that when you are tuning the duplexer on the bench you use two of the ports while tuning and terminate the third with a 50 Ohm load. Your service monitor should be fairly close to 50 Ohms as well. When hooked to the transmitter and receiver they are usually not near as close to 50 Ohms as the test equipment that you are using... I will say that usually you won't see that much power to be gained by peaking the TX side under (low) power So maybe the transmitter output is not near as close to being a perfect 50 Ohms... I sometimes even use another set of test cables when things start looking weird, just in case. When you finish re-peaking the TX side under (low) power, always go back and set/re-check the notches on the TX side as well This is taken from my experience. YMMV.. Which brought the insertion loss down to -2.6. Which is still too high, but better. Keep in mind the monitor is a selective watt meter, so its doubtfull that I am measuring garbage. [Repeater-Builder] WANTED: Motrac B94MDB manual..
I have come across a real clean vintage Motorola Motrac Station B94MDB-3105A which I believe is capable of 275 Watts on UHF... I am not wanting to revive the complete station, I just want to use the final PA and HV supply.. I have never messed with a Motrac high power station on UHF before so I am going to see how hard it would be to separate the HV section and the PA from the rest of the Motrac station. It is really unbelievable how clean this one is, no evidence of mice or any other outside pests.. Any help with a manual would be greatly appreciated. RE: [Repeater-Builder] RE: RC-96 EEPROM
Just to add some information... The upgrade to version 5 employs the Dallas Real Time Clock (DS1216) but it goes in the U31 socket not the U30 socket The upgrade does nothing to U30 and re-uses U31 in it's same state only it goes into the Dallas socket. Of course U34 is completely omitted and the new 27C011 goes in the U29 socket... I still wonder the function of U30? I was simply explaining the difference between the 6264 and the 2864. But, many years ago someone made a low profile socket for the 6216 and 6264 chips that had a built-in battery and blocking diode. To give your CMOS RAM chips battery backed capability, you simply plugged this special socket onto the existing socket on the PC board, then plugged in your CMOS RAM chips. Could it be someone retrofitted this RC-96 with this mod ?? My only question arises is how can the base data be loaded into the 6264 if it looses it's data when unplugged? As the RC-96 doesn't have any backup battery, how is the data saved? Yes the controller boots fine and functions as it should... Very strange the I see the 6264 blank as you do. Maybe someone else will have some input on this? I have verified that the eprom programmer works on all the other eproms I check this weekend I'm starting to think that the 6264 is slightly different from a standard 2864, but the 2864 works in it's place?? This was a private email to me, so I hope you don't mind me sending it to the list Bryon. Tedd Doda, VE3TJD Lazer Audio and Electronics Baden, Ontario, Canada Yahoo! Groups Links Yahoo! Re: [Repeater-Builder] Fan controller
If you are in the mood to spice it up a bit, Maxim has some really neat fan controller IC's. Here is a link to one of many, this one is a stand-alone and easy to interface. http://pdfserv.maxim-ic.com/en/ad/MAX6665-AD.pdf Bryon K0BSJ At 08:03 AM 12/25/2003 -0800, you wrote: At 04:04 AM 12/25/03, you wrote: Also, don't forget simply using a controller that directly supports fans: http://www.ah6le.net/arcom/index.html .
