[Repeater-Builder] Want to buy: 220MHz repeater

2010-04-03 Thread surf_boy82
Hi Group,

Looking to purchase a 220MHz repeater. Doesn't have to be anything elaborate or
high powered. An old Kendecom or something like that would do fine.

Don't want to pay through the nose for it either, but would like to get
something going in the next few months.

Anyone have any old gear they've since replaced still laying around?

Thanks,

[Repeater-Builder] Kenwood TKR-820 Reverse Burst Questions

2010-04-02 Thread surf_boy82
I've been using a Kenwood TKR-820 as a repeater on part of a linked UHF system
for a few years now. The repeater runs flawlessly, I've never had any trouble
with it.

I noticed when I initially built the radio that the external PTT on the
accessory connector works as it should, but that the repeater does not generate
reverse burst when the transmitter unkeys when using this lead.

I run all commercial equipment, and it would be nice to have reverse burst on
this radio, but if it means I have to use an external tone deck, I'll pass.

Anyone know if the TKR-820 can be configured to provide reverse burst with an
external controller, using the internal CTCSS encoder/decoder?

Thanks,

Chris

[Repeater-Builder] For Sale: 2 SCOM 5k Repeater Controllers

2010-03-11 Thread surf_boy82
Hi Group,

I have two SCOM 5k repeater controllers that are surplus to my needs. I bought
one to use on a standalone repeater and then changed it out for an ACC, the
other was part of a package I bought from a friend.

Both of them are in factory rack mount cabinets. One of them has a display, the
other does not. They are both in fine working condition, no issues.

Asking $120 for the non-display unit, $150 for the display unit. Shipping is
$15 on each of these.

Buy 'em both and I'll pay the shipping.

Please e-mail me directly at surf_bo...@yahoo.com if you're interested.

[Repeater-Builder] Re: HAM Mototrbo Systems

MotoTRBO systems (handhelds, mobiles, and repeaters) use color codes to
determine which radios are associated with which repeater. These Color Codes
are the equivalent of PL/DPL/NAC.

[Repeater-Builder] Re: Quantar RLC-MOT issues. Help!

2010-02-13 Thread surf_boy82
That could indeed be the issue - I didn't think of the fact that the DSP could
be monkeying with it.

With that said, the RLC-MOT could be removed from the system, but the next
question would be this:

How can I set the station up such that I have a PL detect AND a carrier squelch
detect?

We absolutely need the ability to switch between CSQ and PL modes. The
controller we're using supports it... But I don't see how to program this thing
to have separate outputs for COS and PL Detect.

I'm very familiar with the Quantar station with regards to using in Public
Safety, but there we use tone keying and voters/consoles, and things like this
never really come into play. At least not yet.

Thanks!

That would be easiest. Other than that, is there a SAM board in the
station? The Quantar does not really have discriminator audio available
as it is a digitally processed platform and it just re-creates it for
you. The station could be muting the DTMF tones and that would possibly
be why the RLC-MOT board sees nothing? I have never tried that myself,

[Repeater-Builder] ACC RC-96 to Doug Hall RBI-1. HELP!!!

Tried posting this to the ACC list but it's rather dead over there.

440 radio on it, but I cannot control the radio from the RC-96 unless I have
Dip Switch 7 off and 4 on. Then I can only enter a frequency (entering 76*1001
puts 436.100 - on the radio). I can't enter PL tones or any of that.

How do I set my RC96 to be in Generic mode to fully control the Doug Hall?

[Repeater-Builder] ACC RC-850 to Doug Hall RBI-1 interface: How's it done?

2009-06-23 Thread surf_boy82
Group,

Trying to interface a Doug Hall RBI-1 to an RC-850 on either Link 1 or Link 2.

Anyone done this? Could anyone give me the basics of how to make this work on
either link port?

Essentially we have a 440 repeater, a 2 meter fixed frequency remote base and
the RBI-1.

We would like to be able to use the RBI-1 as a standard remote base, but also
be able to use the RBI-1 as a frequency agile receive input that is can be
connected directly to the fixed frequency remote base on the opposite link
port, completely bypassing the 440 if possible. (Macros for 440 to use the
RBI-1 as a standard remote, another macro for using the RBI-1 as a frequency
agile RX to crossband over to the fixed freq 2m remote).

Can this be done? I would think so considering the capabilities of the RC-850.

More or less need some guidance in interfacing the RBI-1 to the RC-850. The
RC-850 is V3.6 and of course has the CIB and all that in it.

Another question is will this setup allow the RC-850 to control the PL tone on
the Kenwood 231/331/431 series radios? Or is a TS-32/TS-64 required?

Thanks!

Anyone have any experience with this gear? I'm wondering if I should

Does anyone know if they will tune down to the UHF amateur band?

Do they have internal PL encode/decode, or must I use an outboard

Whats the performance like? Duty cycle?

[Repeater-Builder] Yaesu FTR-2410 PL Encode issues

2004-11-22 Thread surf_boy82

Hi Group,

5K controller attached to it. Everything works fine except for PL
Encode. When I inject the tone into the transmitter at the Tone In

What's the deal? Anyone have any pointers on how I can get this
running properly? I'd really like to finish this project and move on
to my next one, but unfortunately I can't because I can't get the PL
encoder to operate properly. We have co-channel repeaters that can be
heard down here, and having PL decode available to users is a must.

Any help would be appreciated.

[Repeater-Builder] MSF 5000 Internal Duplexer Tee?

2004-06-06 Thread surf_boy82
Question for the group with those familiar with MSF 5000 repeaters,
specifically the UHF ones with internal filtering:

The Duplexer Tee, the little silver block about 1 inch square that
connects between the receiver and transmitter filter output and gives
you your antenna connection is available in several different
flavors.

Mine is the one with the green band around one of the connections.
It's the 435-475 Transmit Low, Receive High, 5-20MHz one.

I recently retuned the station for a different pair, transmit high,
receive low. The manual says I need the TLE5772B Transmit High,
Receive Low 5-20MHz with the yellow band around one of the
connections.

How critical is this? Do I actually need it? I've got no clue how
this thing works and I'm not familiar with this screwy MSF 5000 non-
duplexer type way of duplexing. Am I going to damage anything by
using the existing green banded duplexer tee, or will I suffer any
degradation of signal, or what's the story?

I called Motorola Parts ID Purchasing (800) 422-4210, and was told
the TLE5772B is no longer available period. Whatsoever. Stop-
bothering-us-cuz-you-aint-gonna-get-it-cuz-we-dont-got-it.

Does anyone happen to have the one I need that would be interested in
trading with me, or just selling it to me?

Any help is appreciated. Please reply via e-mail or the thread.
Thanks!
