I have a pretty good relationship with the two local shops here in town, one
Macom and the other Motorola.
They regularly call me to help clean out the garage. I get free GE equipment
at the Motorola shop and free Motorola equipment at the GE shop. I remember
dragging home a working VHF MSR2000 that was traded in at the GE place. Best of
both worlds.

Agreed. Within a month ago I also ran across a "deal" for a station
on VHF, but I was also informed it was the "last" of the equipment
being pulled from the last sites in the area using the MASTR II.

Wouldn't do me any good, since I don't have 900 & didn't bring the 220 HT.

Just about everybody I know hangs out on a 440 channel, probably because
most of the portable repeaters are on 440.

Scott,

Are the space outside or inside. Also what about the $70 spaces.

When I had inside booth, 8x8, at Dayton 15 years ago they were over
$400. Outside was $30 and more if wanted more spaces. This is when
they sold out with about a 40% excess in request. They did a lottery to
determine who got a space. This is also when Dayton got over 32,000
attendance.

tables. If we do get a few club spaces, we can all have a central

It was great to meet up with Bob, Dave, Jeff and everyone else who
made Dayton 2008 a lot of fun. I kept trying to encourage Bob to buy
more surplus radio gear...

Where were you Sunday? NO6B bought lunch (brats) but you were nowhere
to be found...
My back hurts from hauling a near weight-limit suitcase back to the
left/west coast so you know I fell off my "12-Step Junker Enders"
Program for a short time. I'm both grateful and disappointed I don't
live within driving distance of the Dayton Hamvention.

In a moment of weakness (or perhaps utter stupidity?), on Sunday I
bought roughly 16000 electrolytic capacitors, 1000 ferrite chokes, a
few hundred toggle switches, a few hundred LED's, and a few hundred
other random components and connectors, all new in bags or on tape
reels, for $100. I almost escaped with the truck mostly-empty. My
XYL was overjoyed with my last-minute purchase...NOT.

The XYL and I were there on Friday. We drove to Indy on Thursday, dropped

Friday morning. We didn't go back for Saturday's fun. I looked at the crowd

So you were there too, Jeff???

That does it - next year, WE (or at least *I*) absolutely NEED to coordinate
a meet location and time, so we can put faces to names! I'm so frustrated I
missed everyone!

Maybe next year I'll float a mini-blimp over my head with my call on it...
kinda like KE8T- who had the quagi on his hardhat. (NOT!!!) Apparently my
callsign mametag wasn't enough to "git 'r' done." hehehe

Where were you Sunday? NO6B bought lunch (brats) but you were nowhere to be
found...

In a moment of weakness (or perhaps utter stupidity?), on Sunday I bought
roughly 16000 electrolytic capacitors, 1000 ferrite chokes, a few hundred
toggle switches, a few hundred LED's, and a few hundred other random
components and connectors, all new in bags or on tape reels, for $100. I
almost escaped with the truck mostly-empty. My XYL was overjoyed with my
last-minute purchase...NOT.

Re: Dayton 2008

It was great to meet up with Bob, Dave, Jeff and everyone else
who made Dayton 2008 a lot of fun. I kept trying to encourage
Bob to buy more surplus radio gear...

My back hurts from hauling a near weight-limit suitcase back
to the left/west coast so you know I fell off my "12-Step Junker
Enders" Program for a short time. I'm both grateful and
disappointed I don't live within driving distance of the Dayton
Hamvention.

Already marked Dayton 2009 on the schedule of things to do.

cheers,
skipp
