Issue 3884 in reviewboard: New Review Request page should take a base commit ID

New issue 3884 by chip...@gmail.com: New Review Request page should take a
base commit ID

https://code.google.com/p/reviewboard/issues/detail?id=3884

What version are you running?
2.0.x

What's the URL of the page containing the problem?
/r/new/

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Post a locally-generated diff against a Git repository on Bitbucket
2. See a file not found error.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
We should either propagate the error message stating that a base commit ID
is needed and to use RBTools, or we really should offer a field to fill in
(much like we do with base paths).

As it is, it's pretty confusing for users, who just think their diff is bad.

It is on the admin page. See issue 3801 to see how to get to there, and
from there it is obvious, there is a field called "commit ID", and give a
value to it. Unfortunately if you are not the admin, you will have to ask

It worked before, from the admin page, if you change the submitter.

It's cumbersome, but if you have some code which was handed to you by your
colleague who left for vacation, you had a way to continue the review
conversation.

Now it started failing with issue-3801, which is marked as duplicate.
But I don't think it is.

Yes, you don't have a GOOD way to make this work, but at least fix the only
way we had to do that before.

I found the problem it was with the git log --pretty=format in function
get_commit_message. Where git_command was using --pretty=format:%B which I
have changed to --pretty=format:%b and hook is working fine for me .

Yeah, 2.0.14 fixes it, though we recommend 2.0.15 for further improvements.
There's enough moving parts involved for the fixes that an upgrade, rather
than backported patches, will be needed.

Comment #7 on issue 3824 by trowb...@gmail.com: Git hooks not working

the git-hook-check-approval hook verifies that there's an existing review
request for the pushed change, which is listed in the commit message, and
that said review request is "approved" as per the built-in (or extensible)
approval rules. It's intended to be used in a pre-commit review model where
changes are reviewed before they're pushed.

If you're expecting the hook to create review requests for you, that's not
the right hook.

The fix only prevents getting in to this situation in the first place. If
you already have duplicate entries in your database, then you'll need to go

Comment #6 on issue 3824 by kdari...@gmail.com: Git hooks not working

Thanks, I have updated to 0.7.3 but now I get "review_request_id" as "0"
all the time by default. Its not reading the commit message as defined in
the function "get_review_request_id". Also it sounds to me inappropriate to
get the review request id from "commit message" how a user will know the id
before doing "rbt post" as there will be many other user's in parallel who
will be doing commit and push. Please correct me if I am wrong. I do not
understand this hook behavior. Is there anything else I need to do before
copying this (pre-receive -> git-hook-check-approval)hook or there is still
some bug in it?

So unfortunately, due to historical reasons, perforce works pretty
differently, and the description is actually updated on the server side. It
might be nice to bring it up to date with the other systems and have it use
the --guess options on the client side, but that's a pretty big change that
needs to be carefully thought out in order to avoid annoying people.

Re: Issue 3877 in reviewboard: "Ship it" counts on the dashboard include multiple "ship it"s from one person

Comment #1 on issue 3877 by chip...@gmail.com: "Ship it" counts on the
dashboard include multiple "ship it"s from one person

https://code.google.com/p/reviewboard/issues/detail?id=3877

For now, this is intentional. Say I'm working with someone and have a Ship
It, but I realize I need to make another change, so I upload a new diff.
Seeing the Ship It counter go up on the dashboard is useful information, in
that it lets me know at a glance that the new diff was also approved.

We may want to rethink this, but only in the context of a revamped Ship It
system.

Issue 3877 in reviewboard: "Ship it" counts on the dashboard include multiple "ship it"s from one person

2015-05-27 Thread reviewboard

Status: New
Owner:
Labels: Type-Defect Priority-Medium

New issue 3877 by buck.a...@gmail.com: "Ship it" counts on the dashboard
include multiple "ship it"s from one person

https://code.google.com/p/reviewboard/issues/detail?id=3877

What version are you running?
2.0.13. I've also reproduced the issue on ReviewBoard's demo instance
(currently, 2.5 beta 2)

What's the URL of the page containing the problem?
http://demo.reviewboard.org/dashboard/

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a new empty review.
2. Have a single user account give the review two "ship it!"s
3. View the dashboard.
4. Note that the dashboard shows a "ship it" count of two despite only one
person having reviewed the code.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The dashboard should show the number of people who have given the review a
ship it instead of the total number of ship its received.

What operating system are you using? What browser?
Linux. Firefox.

Please provide any additional information below.
A review might have multiple ship its from one person if the diff is
updated significantly and someone that has already given the review a ship
it gives it another after reading the updated diff.
Other reviewers browsing their dashboard might choose to skip the review if
they see that it has multiple ship its, even though there was only one
person that reviewed it and gave it a ship it.

Re: Issue 3862 in reviewboard: Loading Patch hangs due to french local

Status: NeedInfo

Comment #2 on issue 3862 by bar...@beanbaginc.com: Loading Patch hangs due
to french local

https://code.google.com/p/reviewboard/issues/detail?id=3862

Could you attach the patch file? We don't need the entire patch file, just
the part that includes the revision headers, e.g. this part:

Index: myPath/uIHM.pas
===
--- myPath/uIHM.pas (révision 300)
+++ myPath/uIHM.pas (copie de travail)

We need this to check the encoding of the file, because I can't reproduce
this with a file encoded as UTF-8.

In the mean time, if you use rbt to generate and post the diff (e.g., with
rbt diff), it should work as expected as it will use an English locale.

object of type 'NoneType' has no len()

https://code.google.com/p/reviewboard/issues/detail?id=3876

Copying this bug from EPEL Bugzilla. RHEL/CentOS 6 only ships with git
version 1.7.1, which is missing the "-c name=value" option that RBTools
uses to ensure that path values with unusual characters are quoted.

It looks like this was added as a side-effect of
"Disable the HTTP cache by default" (commit
03dbc9e3f2e1f8d0cd73c1941d9a5d8ed9c123bf). It doesn't seem to be related to
the rest of that patch.

In the short-term, I can patch this back out of the EPEL release of
RBTools, but I'm not sure what the correct upstream solution should be
here. Without context for this change, I'm not sure how bad the effect
would be. Please advise.

 Red Hat Bugzilla https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1225179

The URL you indicated isn't one that Review Board uses. Did you mean:

Issue 3875 in reviewboard: Tree view on dashboard

New issue 3875 by scherere...@gmail.com: Tree view on dashboard
https://code.google.com/p/reviewboard/issues/detail?id=3875

What version are you running?
2.0.15

The idea would be to display a tree view based on the "depends on" field.
In many cases this would be a lot easier to look at than a purely
chronological view, since often times the leaves of the tree filter up to
the top of the dashboard chronologically since they were worked on latest,
even though the root of the tree is more important.

Issue 3874 in reviewboard: Upload diff error 207, but the file exists

2015-05-25 Thread reviewboard

Status: New
Owner:
Labels: Type-Defect Priority-Medium

New issue 3874 by dnep...@yelp.com: Upload diff error 207, but the file
exists

https://code.google.com/p/reviewboard/issues/detail?id=3874

What version are you running?

2.0.12

What's the URL of the page containing the problem?

/api/json/reviewrequests/{review_request_id}/diff/new/

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a git repo with some files
2. chmod +x some file, git add, git commit that file
3. git rm the file, and commit
4. post a new review using `rbt post ...`

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expected my review to be posted with a diff. Instead I received

ERROR: Error uploading diff

The file was not found in the repository. (HTTP 400, API Error 207)

What operating system are you using? What browser?

N/A, issue is with the API

Please provide any additional information below.

`rbt` wasn't properly returning the file from the response, after hacking
it up to print the full response I saw the error was caused by a file that
I had run `chmod +x` on in one commit, and `git rm` in the next.

I then rebased out the `chmod +x` commit, and the upload diff succeeded.

Right now no, but there's also no way to know who's just willfully ignoring
it. We'll possibly consider adding this if it turns out to be a problem,
but I don't expect it to be necessary, and I'd rather not clutter up the UI

Sweet. Will the review owner be able to see who has it muted/archived? I
could imagine wanting to know that so that I know I need to ping a user
explicitly.

We've recently added "archive" and "mute" features to git (to be released
in 2.5). When muting a review request, users will no longer receive e-mails
about it and will never see it on their dashboard.

You'll need to follow up with the people that run the server at Amazon.
This bug tracker is for the upstream project, and we can't really help with
support issues on any individual server (much less one that has had some
modifications to the code).

I don't really know what to say--obviously, six.moves.http_client is
supposed to exist. Something is weird with your environment but I can't
tell you what.

According to
https://community.bitnami.com/t/environment-can-only-contain-strings/24300/12
it should work if you replace the \ characters with /

Note that we don't support running on Windows. If you install via bitnami,
you need to go through them for support.

What version are you running?
2.6.32-279.el6.x86_64

What's the URL of the page containing the problem?
Our local svn server.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
I am creating a remote svn post-commit rbt post hook.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I am expecting my diff to get uploaded to the review board server.
The rbt post process hangs. It stays running.

What operating system are you using? What browser?
CentOS with kernel 2.6.32-279.el6.x86_64

Please provide any additional information below.

From what I gather - the problem probably comes from the fact that the svn
diff is used without the --non-interactive flag in combination with a
username and password for the svn passed as arguments (with --svn-username
and --svn-password). This leads to a dialog asking you whether to store the
password unencrypted. I tested it with the --non-interactive flag passed to
svn diff (svn.py:286) and it works as it should.
