[SlimDevices: Ripping] Taggers / Online music databases
Not talking Classical. The other day I thought to myself that I'd like to include composers in my tagging routine. Does anyone know of any tagging software that includes lookup to online dbs where the results include the composer? Obviously I can do it manually by reference to various sources but I am looking for something like mp3tag that does it automatically. I seem to recall that I once had a plugin using Discogs in mp3tag. Bear in mind that all online sources of data are to some extent community driven, so the inf might not always be present or trustworthy. If mp3tag doesn't cut it for you, I've made the transition to Mediamonkey ages ago already, and there are some plugins available for it that allow this. Re: [SlimDevices: Ripping] Taggers / Online music databases
So when you say composer, and you say you're not talking classical, you mean the originator(s) of the music, e.g. Lennon and McCartney? In the case of Discogs, that would come from the track credits in the "Written-By" value. In the case of MusicBrainz, check the "Work" via "Recording" which is linked from each track in each release. This is the kind of data which is less commonly recorded, especially, proportionally, for non-classical releases. As for apps to tag this, I think SongKong did a lot of work on classical recently, check that out. 'bliss' (https://www.blisshq.com) - fully automated music library management.
