Re: [RDD] Overscheduling Top of Hour
On Sat, 17 Sep 2011, Beau Gast wrote: To really make Rivendell commercially viable it *has* to have a build-in function to completely control every element of the playlist via the build-in scheduler OR an external scheduler. EVERY other major automation system has this function built into some sort of code inserted in the playlist via the scheduling program. For example this is how to trigger a soft-branch that jumps the playlist to the next hour in Scott Studios via the Selector scheduling program: 00:00,*,LI4,DA0011,LEGAL ID (FM Only),,00:20, Does the Rivendell import process not know how to read this and interpret it as make next? Four years ago I needed to import a log into Rivendell systems at nine different stations simultaneously, and it needed to happen automatically with no human intervention. I wrote a Perl script to read the logs and create corresponding tables and entries in the Rivendell database. The logs were full of time jumps of both the hard and soft variety, so my script handles them correctly. The chief drawback of my approach is that whenever the database scheme is updated, my script needs to be modified accordingly. I'd much prefer to be able to upload logs as text files into something like an audio file drop box and have them appear automagically as Rivendell logs. I don't recall such a feature existing in 2007; does it now? Rob ___ Rivendell-dev mailing list Rivendell-dev@lists.rivendellaudio.org http://lists.rivendellaudio.org/mailman/listinfo/rivendell-dev
[RDD] Log failing to play
I am having trouble with Rivendell not playing back any log, one created by hand or those generated using RDLOGManager. It just sits there showing all log items highlighted in red and does not show that any item is currently playing and there is no audio output heard or indicated on the VU meters. My log is relatively simple with only 5-8 hours of programming a day composing only of music and liners since our only Rivendell box is used for fill in audio on our web stream during times that we can not legally stream the live broadcast (MLB Baseball / Syndicated Programming). Any help in getting this working again would be great. Thanks in advance. -- *Matthew A. Chambers, CBT* Assist. To be honest if they're in there I'd imagine thats where they're meant to be (it would be strange to have everything copied from /var/snd on a computing whim). It depends how Rivendell is setup. Check your /etc/rd.conf file. I only have a Riv 1.7 to hand but its under the [cae] section down as AudioRoot=/var/snd for me. If the Audio Root matches to your home directory then just check the directory permissions. You'll need to match the permissions to whats written in your rd.conf. Namely AudioOwner and AudioGroup needs to match the owner:group on the directory. If the files have been imported into Rivendell, they'll have names of the form nn_001.wav, where nn is each file's six-digit Rivendell cart number (and 001 is the cut number). If that's the case, the files you see at /Home/KRES/Music must have been visible in /var/snd once upon a time, as that's the only place Rivendell knows to put imported audio files. If it's on a removable medium or another machine on your network, it needs to be mounted as /var/snd not /Home/KRES/Music. The capital H in Home suggests that's probably the case, as Linux home directories are in /home with a lower case h. The MySQL server also has OpenVPN running on it and the remote machines are clients. The Voice Tracking has some delays that are a little cumbersome but it seems to work. Re: [RDD] Overscheduling Top of Hour
I've done a dump of the database and taken a look at the actual top of the hour as created in the event creator and scheduled by the log manager when the logs from Selector are imported and this is what I see as the string for the top of each hour: 204741,322,'WUUU_2010_12_16',1017,70,23,'TOP OF THE HOUR LEGAL','','','','','',0,'','wuuu','2010-12-16 23:59:58','23:59:58',3,3,1,4,'N','00:00:00',0,'','','','' Now if I could just figure out how to extrapolate the time markers out of this and place them into the Selector program as a breaknote I'd be good as gold. Anybody have any suggestions? All I need is an example of the proper string that I can base each hour on that would be recognized by Rivendell's import function.
