[RDD] E-mail address change

2013-07-05 Thread Morris/Carol Mattson
Please change the address for the Rivendell posts from matts...@yahoo.com to
w...@comcast.net.  The old address will be in use but it is better to have them
go to the radio station e-mail than my personal account.
Thanks,

Re: [RDD] Cannot start Rivendell Daemon - is now Darkice on Debian 64 Wheezy

2013-07-05 Thread Fernando Della Torre
Hi guys!

I strongly recommend liquidsoap over darkice.
Darkice has been really unstable when used uver wan connections, specially
along with JACK.

Using liquidsoap under ubuntu 10.04 (old!) compiled from source I'm having
no problem at all.

It's worth to try it.

Re: [RDD] Position out of Bounds on signal

2013-07-05 Thread Marc Steele
Hello,

Logcheck keeps throwing this error up on our automation box but I've never
heard anything untoward on air.

As for the audio config, we're using a fairly basic ALSA setup as well
(though as the card isn't 100% compatible with Rivendell, we do have DMIX
in the way.

[RDD] Position out of Bounds on signal

2013-07-05 Thread Wayne Merricks

Hi all,

Anyone else come across any Position out of Bounds on Signal errors
while running rdairplay?

Most of the time when this happens nothing seems to change as far as on
air audio is concerned although I'm fairly convinced some songs are
ending early with the next cart firing. However recently I'm having a
different problem.

Air play is showing as playing, the VU meters are moving as normal but
audio stops coming out of the sound card.

This is on Riv 2.5.0 with a simple ALSA fed setup with Riv the sole
owner of the card (nothing fancy like JACK etc).

The full message is like the following:

06/07/2013 - 03:34:45.884 : *** position out of bounds on signal: Line:
108 Cart: 601210 Pos: 45469 ***

Any info would be appreciated.

Regards,

Wayne

2013-07-05 Thread Mike
A good number of people here have been recommending liquidsoap over Darkice.
May I suggest looking over posts from the last couple of weeks for more info.
If you really need Darkice you may need to compile from source.

Re: [RDD] Cannot start Rivendell Daemon - is now Darkice on Debian 64 Wheezy

2013-07-05 Thread G Wood
All,

Since the last post I stepped out into Debian 64 bit world from my small
little world of Suse and have had some much better results, so far I
haven't encountered the issues in Debian mentioned previously. I find
Centos a bit primitive, spent some time trying to get it going but decided
to try Debian. Debian installed on my Proliant DL380 G4 which also
supports Rivendell where nothing else I tried would, so kudos to Debian.
The repos and documentation seem more mature and most of those issues
mentioned previously are ironed out; however, I have run across a problem
with Darkice . The Rivendell.Tryphon.org site calls out for the following:
darkice-full1.2+svn509-2/i386, 1.2+svn509-2/amd64

however, trying to install that package gives an error message saying it
will not install and there is a proprietary issue with the mp3 support
that has been disabled...so apparently the package is broken? I'm
wondering if I understand this correctly, about Darkice, but I have not
been able to get Darkice to talk with Jack even with the previous 1.0
version. I'm figuring someone out there in Debian land has probably run
across this so I'm all ears. The Darkice / Jack combination is currently a
show stopper in this configuration so I'm looking and listening. Thanks for
the previous info too.

Gary

Not sure what this is supposed to mean, but I contacted the Tracktion people
and asked them if Tracktion for Linux will still be free once it clears beta.

James "Woody" Woodburn, one of the product developers, replied, "Certainly for
the foreseeable future."

Kinda nebulous, but it's better than nothing.

It was a bug. Fixed in CVS-v2_branch.
