Re: [RDD] Traffic question

2014-06-04 Thread PETERindeETHER
It's nice to experiment a little. For now, I've got 2 TRAFFIC carts with each
several cuts and an event named RECLAME (which is Dutch for commercial). This
event has a header-jingle scheduled at PRE-IMPORT (legally required), has
"IMPORT From Traffic" checked and a footer jingle at POST-IMPORT (also legally
required). Imported carts have a PLAY transition. And in a few moments I will
find out if this means Rivendell will play 2 "commercials" between NEWS and
TotH. :-)

Kind of excited about it I must say! I really love this whole experimenting. :-)

Re: [RDD] Traffic question

2014-06-02 Thread Robert
You have to plot an event [TRAFFIC] in the hour clock for each
availability you want to have on the schedule.

For example two avails at 10:00
10:00:00 TRAFFIC [import from Traffic system]
11:00:00 TRAFFIC [import from Traffic system]

The duration of the avail is inconsequential RD uses the exact time of
the CART in the final log.

Put as many avails in as you need.

If you want a Jingle in front of the break you create an EVENT [JINGLE]
to take you into the break.

If there are no ads scheduled the avails aren’t used and the Jingle
plays.

Putting a Jingle on the bottom of the break is simple enough but when
there are no ads you get back to back jingles.

I solve this by running Jingles at the top of the break OR the bottom of
the break.

I prefer the bottom because to me it sounds better, and putting "hey
here's and ad break" at the end of a song is switch off material.

Jingle at the end says "back to the music" and as long as there are not
to many ads in a break is a mental cue to switch your ears back on.

I have never been able to get an event to work with an Intro and an
Outro cart. YMMMV. Never been able to figure this out.

[RDD] Traffic question

2014-06-02 Thread Peter van Embden
Hi!

Just some things I'm wondering about but cannot find the answer:
I've made an event to play commercials (in Rivendell they're called "traffic",
right?), but we don't always have commercials to play.
The event has a pre-import "leader" and a post-import "closer" jingle and
imports from "traffic".
If we put traffic carts into the system, it should start working. Commercials
will be given dayparting-rules.
But: if there are no traffic carts available, I don't want the event to play.

Is that possible? Or is that standard? That the whole event will be skipped
when traffic is not available?
