[Rosegarden-user] German localisation de.ts - Deutsche Übersetzung de.ts für Rosegarden
Hi there! This eMail is especially for german speaking users. I am looking for people who are willing to check my work and give me feedback. = Liebe Rosegarden-BenutzerInnen! = Greetings (this is english again)! [Rosegarden-user] CPU load rises when Rosegarden is idle
Hi there! Does anybody experience this behaviour too: Since the latest commitments (code version 1589x - 15904) the cpu load rises strongly (in my case 45-60% and more) when Rosegarden is idle and in QJackCtl a lot of xruns are generated. After loading a song into Rosegarden and starting to play this song the CPU load falls again (maybe 5%) and no more xruns are generated. I am using Debian 10 with a RT-kernel. Ardour and other Softwares behave properly, so I think it is Rosegarden. I didn't see this behaviour before the latest ALSA-Midi-Port commitments where added (code version 1588x). [Rosegarden-user] [Solved] CPU load rises when Rosegarden is idle
Hi Ted! My "unfavorable" settings in the recording parameter menu (all midi input devices, all channels, midi through auto routing) are causing a cpu load of 104% according to "top" - didn't know that is possible :-) Choosing only one midi input device, one fixed midi channel and midi auto routing to off solves this problem. Thank you and cheers, Michael = Try using the "top" command (at the command line) to make sure Rosegarden is to blame. It will show you the processes that are using the most CPU. Ted. = Hi there! Ted, I see. That makes sense because another observation I made were the never ending midi notes I recorded with the virtual keyboard. I thought this is the new auto composition number one hit producing tool (ACNOHPT) :-) Thank you and greetings, Michael Gesendet: Freitag, 07. Until now I thought only politicians are able to work more than 100% :-) I test Rosegarden on a MacBook Pro 8.1 (i5 with 4 cores@2.6GHz) but also run Athlon XP 3000+ machines, they still perfectly handle songs with many MIDI tracks and several audio tracks. In Linux we luckily have a wide ecosystem of distributions and package managers (the programmes and the people) who take care of what AppImage and co. do in an IMHO often rather inefficient way IMHO trying to copycat Windows 'installers' etc. I would suggest that if you're unhappy of your distribution's release cycle and/or support for compiling stuff you might either look into other distributions or push the maintainers of your distribution to change things. I compile Rosegarden myself since a few years without many issues, and I just follow the 'standard' procedure: it's not _that_ hard, just a bit (processor-) time consuming :-) I am now on Manjaro (Arch derivative), but also managed without problems when I was on Fedora and Debian in the past. Anyway, if you give compiling a shot and have any issues I'm sure people on this list will be happy to help you :-) Lorenzo. ___ Rosegarden-user mailing list Rosegarden-user@lists.sourceforge.net - use the link below to unsubscribe https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/rosegarden-user ___ Rosegarden-user mailing list Rosegarden-user@lists.sourceforge.net - use the link below to unsubscribe https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/rosegarden-user

[Rosegarden-user] Testing Appreciated for 21.12
Hi Ted! Hi there! I compiled the latest code and did my usual testing with a very large audio and midi file containing a lot of modulations, tracks, overlapping notes, ... So far it works very well for me on Debian 11. Thanks for your work Philipp and Ted! Greetings, Michael P.S. One thought that strikes me since some time: After publishing the next version maybe we could discuss "symplifying" the interface instead of adding new features. For example, what do you think about the separate midi and audio mixers and their layout, reducing the multiple appearance of features in many menues. Sorry for my english :-) Gesendet: Dienstag, 16. Here's some input from trying to test as much as possible: - Inserting tuplets with the keyboard. If you insert a triplet (be it with keyboard or mouse) and there is a note already on the beat ('slot') immediately after, inserting the first tuplet note (be it triplet or any other) seems to 'eat' back the previous note ?? For example: - insert a quater note on beat 2 (2/4) of a 4/4 measure, then start to insert a quaver (1/8) triplet on beat 1. See what happens (and the note is actually moved, you can verify this by opening the segment in the matrix view) - Track > Add Tracks…. Test the new Device and Instrument fields. If more than one track is added each subsequent track has device + 1: is this expected? - File > Merge > Merge file…. This has been rewritten and could use some testing of all features. Doesn't seem to import channel, bank and programme? - File open/save dialogs: General > Presentation > Use native file dialogs. Changes appearance of file dialogs. What's expected? I seem to get the same dialog. I am on XFCE (Manjaro) with QT 5.15.2 (as reported by Rosegarden). First time you open an existing project, something like, "Do you want to open a copy of this project?" Both? This is a tricky one IMHO because on the other hand when working on project I also want to be able to always save and not risk losing any change which comes up. So any warning like that should definitely be a switchable on/off option. My two cents. Lorenzo > > > --- > David W. Re: [Rosegarden-user] Regression Testing Appreciated
Greetings! I tested the new lv2-plugin option just now. I generated a file consisting of 4 tracks, each track loaded with a separate lv2-plugin: Yoshimi, AMSynth, AVL Drums, ACE Fluidsynth. It worked well, no xruns shown in QJackCtl. The GUIs opened and the controllers were adjustable except ACE Fluidsynth. == What else caught my eye? I had some freezing windows especially when changing patches in ACE Fluidsynth but also Yoshimi. I think ACE Fluidsynth to be the culprit (it doesn't even have a gui in rosegarden). I am not able to reproduce this crashes regularily but will report when knowing more. I would be very thankful if the mixer window/parameter sliders would be reworked sometimes :-) Thank you very much for your time and work. Michael Gesendet: Mittwoch, 27. If you normally use the latest in master, please pull, build, and test. If you don't normally work with the latest, now might be a good time to try it. See the following wiki page for more: https://www.rosegardenmusic.com/wiki/dev:building_rosegarden_from_source If you are a plugin user, we need LADSPA effect plugins and DSSI synth plugins regression tested. Changes have been made in these areas and we want to be sure nothing has broken for you for the 24.06 release. For all users, all normal use cases involving MIDI and audio need regression testing. Use rg like you normally would. And now the real announcement... This update includes Philip's work over the past year on support for LV2 plugins. See Feature Request 462. It is currently considered "experimental" and needs testing as well, but please be sure to test the non-LV2 cases mentioned above first. You'll need to install two packages on your system in order to build with LV2 support: liblilv and libgtk2.0. For Debian-based, something like this should work: apt install liblilv-dev apt install libgtk2.0-dev Now re-run cmake and it should find those: -- The following features have been enabled: ... * LILV, The Lilv library, for lv2 plugins -- Found GTK2_GTK: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtk-x11-2.0.so To turn on LV2 support within rg, go to Edit > Preferences... > LV2 Plugin Support (experimental). Make sure that is checked and restart rg. LV2 plugins will now appear in the various plugin dialogs. We will be keeping feature request 462 open for the initial round of comments. Please post any findings there: https://sourceforge.net/p/rosegarden/feature-requests/462/ Once again, LV2 support is *experimental*, so be prepared for crashes.
