...placed carefully between his eyes.. Charges Against Teen Upgraded After Dog He Allegedly Raped Dies Jun 20, 2005, 6:20 PM Cory Williamson, 17, is in jail accused of raping his neighbor's dog; and is awaiting trial on charges of molesting a 3-year-old girl and the statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl. Princess was allegedly raped by Cory Williamson, 17, two weeks ago. Now the dog has died and charges against Williamson have been upgraded. Sylvia Jones says Princess wouldn't eat or play anymore after the attack. "She (Princess) couldn't even sit down, her bottom was swollen sore." SPARTANBURG, SOUTH CAROLINA (FOX Carolina News) - A Campobello teen is accused of raping one neighbor's dog and another neighbor's two little girls. Now the dog has died and charges against the teen have been upgraded. After receiving word that the dog died possibly because of the rape. Fox Carolina called the Solicitor's office to see if now new charges would be filed against the teen. An hour later Solicitor Trey Gowdy called to say that the charges will be upgraded to the "most serious animal cruelty charges they have on the books." The dog's owner Sylvia Jones says, "At first when it happened, I couldn't eat or sleep every morning I'm waking up thinking Princess is there but she's not. Princess's little dog house is empty now. Sylvia Jones says she died of internal bleeding this past Sunday because of the rape. "The vet told me she had a little blood in her urine and that she was bleeding inside." Sylvia says she and her husband would not have believed Cory Williamson raped Princess exactly two weeks to the day she died had they not seen it with their own eyes. "When I got here we were laying on the deck looking at him and he had his pants down and he was doing sexual activity with the dog like a man would do to a woman." The Jones family says Princess wouldn't eat or play anymore after the attack. "She (Princess) couldn't even sit down, her bottom was swollen sore." Sylvia says she knows Princess was just a dog, but she wants people to know that Princess was also a part of her family. A family that now has been forever changed. "She looked so pitiful. It's sad, there was nothing I could do for her." Neighbors worry that if Williamson is accused of raping a dog and molesting two girls in the same neighborhood, who knows what might happen next. Neighbor Bill Johnson says, "As a community we shouldn't have to watch our kids every second they're playing. We want him out of this neighborhood." The Solicitor's office says it wants to make sure Williamson is out of this neighborhood while he's awaiting trial on the molestation and dog rape charges so they are requesting that his bond be revoked. Williamson's bond hearing will be held next Friday. ___ RTF mailing list RTF@rolltidefan.net http://rolltidefan.net/mailman/listinfo/rtf_rolltidefan.net

[RollTideFan] Lang's side of the story
By Gary Parrish Contact June 8, 2005 "People treated me like a king" during the Albert Means days, says Lynn Lang, former Trezevant High coach. Former Trezevant High coach Lynn Lang says he took care of player Albert Means (above) and his family, but Means declines to respond to those charges. "I was through with that five years ago," said Means. Lynn Lang has seen the film clip a thousand times. He can see it in his mind today. He's wearing a straw hat. He's yelling, acting like a fool. It fits the image people still have of him, one of a high school coach who asked multiple universities for illegal inducements before selling his prized recruit for $150,000 and keeping the money for himself. "It's the way I was painted," Lang said. "But that's not the whole story." Today, on the day Alabama booster Logan Young is to be sentenced in federal court for his role in the Albert Means recruiting scandal, Lang wants to set the record straight. Over the past week, the former Trezevant High coach spoke to The Commercial Appeal in a series of wide-ranging interviews. Among his charges: Albert Means and his family knew about the cash payments and received a substantial amount of money from Lang. "When the story came out and everybody was talking about how the Means family didn't get any of the money and I kept it all for myself, that was the worst part," Lang said. "I took care of that family, and I took care of Albert all through his senior year and up until he went to Alabama." Lang said he gave the Means family "around $60,000." Though Alabama, Kentucky and Georgia are the only schools that actually paid money to Lang in the recruiting process, Lang said Arkansas, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Michigan State each said they would engage in activities contrary to NCAA regulations in an effort to land Means. "And most the time, it was boosters or coaches offering me things, not me asking for things," Lang said. "When I had Means, people treated me like a king. Anything I wanted, and anything they thought I wanted they had ready for me." Arkansas and Tennessee made specific offers. "Arkansas was going to hire me as their defensive line coach and give me $80,000," he said. "Tennessee offered $50,000, and then $75,000." Young wasn't the only person with Alabama ties to give Lang cash. Former Crimson Tide recruiting coordinator Ronnie Cottrell gave Lang an envelope containing $1,200 to pay for Means's summer school that wasn't covered by his scholarship. "Cottrell told me to write a check for $1,200 to the University of Alabama, and I did," Lang said. "Then he gave me the envelope with 12 $100 bills in it." Getting someone to take Means's ACT was simple. "We had a student get a slip stamped by a counselor at Trezevant, and he went to West Memphis and took the test," Lang said. "That's how we did that. That was easy." Lang said the student -- Trezevant Class of 1998 product and former Golden Bear running back Carl Cunningham -- was paid, "about $30" to do it. He added it was necessary because it took Means 15 attempts to pass the TCAP. "The whole thing just spiraled out of control," Lang said. "I didn't have a clue about what I was doing. But let me tell you, it wasn't just me running around asking everybody for money and then keeping it all. That's not how this happened. "I was wrong, but I wasn't the only one who was wrong. I've kept quiet for four years. But I've been waiting to tell this story." How it started It was May 1999, and a big day in the world of college recruiting. For the first time that year, coaches were allowed by the NCAA to visit high schools to see the players they'd build their future teams around. At least half a dozen converged on a practice field in North Memphis to watch Means work out. "All the main players were there," Lang said. "Alabama. Kentucky. Georgia. Tennessee. Ole Miss. Arkansas. They all came to Trezevant, and that's when it started." Among the coaches was Ole Miss assistant Kurt Roper. "Kurt was new to Ole Miss, and I wasn't really paying him much attention, so I think he felt left out," Lang said. "So he tracked me down as I was walking down to the football field, and said, 'Coach, we're new at Ole Miss and we need to be able to recruit with the big boys. Tell me what we have to do to get Means.' So I started playing back with him." After a few minutes, according to Lang, Roper got more specific. "He said, 'Coach, I need to know exactly what it's going to take financially to get Means so that I can take it back to my people,' " Lang said. "I just told him a house and two cars, and he said that wouldn't be a problem." Lang talked to each of the coaches when that day was done. All of them, he said, indicated they'd be willing to do "whatever it takes" to get Means. "It was strange, because it was like they were a little surprised that I didn't know exactly what to ask for," Lang said. "On that day, it wasn't me askin

God met her at the gates and said, "You have been a good cat all these years. Anything you want is yours for the asking." The cat thought for a minute and then said, "All my life I lived on a farm and slept on hard wooden floors. I would like a real fluffy pillow to sleep on." God said, "Say no more." Instantly the cat had a huge fluffy pillow. A few days later, six mice were killed in an accident and they all went to Heaven together. God met the mice at the gates with the same offer that He made to the cat. The mice said, "Well, we have had to run all of our lives: from cats, dogs and even people with brooms! If we could just have some little roller skates, we would not have to run again." God answered, "It is done." All the mice had beautiful little roller skates. About a week later, God decided to check on the cat. He found her sound asleep on her fluffly pillow. God gently awakened the cat and asked, "Is everything okay? How have you been doing? Are you happy?" The cat replied, "Oh, it is WONDERFUL. I have never been so happy in my life. The pillow is so fluffy, and those little Meals on Wheels you have been sending over are delicious. ___ RTF mailing list RTF@rolltidefan.net http://rolltidefan.net/mailman/listinfo/rtf_rolltidefan.net ___ RTF mailing list RTF@rolltidefan.net http://rolltidefan.net/mailman/listinfo/rtf_rolltidefan.net

DuBose was the Southeastern Conference coach of the year at his alma mater in 1999. But he was forced to resign midway through the Crimson Tide's 3-and-8 season in 2000 -- the second losing season of his four-year tenure. He also endured a sexual harassment claim filed by his former secretary, and the team was placed on probation for rules violations under his watch. [RollTideFan] GI Joe, Barbie, Ken and now......
Jesus, the talking doll version Company also plans dolls of Mary and Moses at start, with dolls able to recite Bible verses. April 12, 2005: 10:17 AM EDT NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - A talking Jesus doll is due to go on sale in May, along with versions of Moses, the Virgin Mary and David, as a teddy bear maker tries to find a market with churches and religious families. The foot-tall Jesus doll will be able to recite five Biblical verses at the push of button on its back, while the Moses doll will recite the Ten Commandants. The Mary doll will recite a long Bible verse. Joshua Livingston, one of the original founders of Valencia, Calif.-based Beverly Hills Teddy Bear Co. has returned to the company to head its new Biblical doll unit, One2Believe. In the past, Beverly Hills Teddy Bear mostly manufactured bears and other plush toys on a contract basis for other retailers. This will be the company's first attempt to sell direct to consumers via the Internet, Livingston said. He said that the idea for the religious dolls has been a long-time desire of David Socha, who is the other founder of the teddy bear company. The company has hired a marketing firm with expertise reaching out to churches and church schools to generate sales, Livingston said. "In the beginning we don't feel it'd be right to put it in Toys R Us and be next to a Barbie or a Bratz," he said. The company expects to sell about 50,000 of the Biblical dolls by the end of the year, with the Jesus doll -- not surprisingly -- expected to be the top seller. It hopes to also bring out an Esther doll by the end of the year and hopes to have other Biblical character dolls introduced in future years. The line of Biblical dolls is known as Messengers of Faith. The dolls will cost $24.99, although Livingston said there will be discounts for churches as well as free shipping for those who buy three or more of the dolls. They will have hand-sewn period clothing, with Jesus wearing sandals and veils for the Virgin Mary. They will also have movable limbs and hands that can grip objects. While Socha is Catholic and has been active in giving time and money to church groups for years, Livingston is Jewish. He said it doesn't seem strange to him selling the Jesus doll, though. "I have a very open mind and believe people can have their own beliefs and religion," he said. The suits, including two filed in Birmingham last week, are among 9,900 filed against individuals since 2003 on behalf of RIAA member companies such as Warner Bros. Records, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Arista Records and Capitol Records Inc. The lawsuits accuse people of using the Internet or an online media distribution system to download copyright recordings without paying, to distribute them to the public and to make them available for distribution. The suit against Vickey Goss of Alexander City, filed in Montgomery early this year, alleges that hundreds of songs by artists such as country crooner George Straight, gospel singer Kirk Franklin and hip-hop artist Nelly were downloaded on her computer. Goss was unaware of the downloads by her daughter, then 17, according to her attorney, Angela Hill. "Her daughter didn't have any criminal intent," Hill said. Goss offered to settle for $400 or $500 but the offer was rejected, Hill said. "For her, that's still a lot of money." U.S. copyright laws allow for damages of $750 to $30,000 for each song illegally downloaded on a person's computer. Hill questioned why the companies are not targeting the Internet file-sharing programs. The RIAA says the lawsuits are necessary to protect its members. The industry blames piracy for a 21 percent drop in CD shipments from 1999 to 2004. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case today in which movie and record companies contend they should be able to sue file-sharing services such as Groskster Ltd, and StreamCast Networks Inc., because their customers copy and trade copyright material online without paying for it. The case, the companies said, is considered a significant test of copyright law. Jenni Engebretsen, RIAA spokeswoman, said the suits against individuals are filed to combat the rampant copyright infringement through peer-to-peer use, which occurs when people illegally share music files across the Internet. "The lawsuits are an important part of our overall effort to discourage illegal downloading and encourage music fans to turn to legal services," Engebretsen said. "Individual users of illegal file-sharing networks should remain on notice: You can be caught, and there are consequences to your illegal actions." Engebresten said some defendants, once sued, have chosen to settle. Of the nine lawsuits filed in Montgomery-based federal court, three have settled. Engebretsen said two of nine people sued in the Mobile-based federal court have settled. In the Birmingham-based federal court, one person out of six has settled. But Atlanta lawyer John Israel, who represents Huntsville resident David Lackey, believes RIAA has sued the wrong David Lackey. "He didn't do anything," Israel said. "He's not that kind of person." Israel said Lackey, who writes his own music, is working to get his finances together to go back to school to obtain a graduate degree in music education. "Being a composer himself, he is sensitive to the royalty issues," Israel said. [RollTideFan] Lawsuit involving Tiger Woods
Appeals court allows artist to sell painting of Tiger Woods * A long-awaited decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals in Cincinnati (6th Cir.) holds that a painting of the famous golfer violates neither trademark nor privacy law. June 20, 2003 -- An artist's painting of Tiger Woods at the 1997 Masters tournament is not a violation of trademark law and does not infringe on the golfer's right to publicity, a federal appeals court held in a long-awaited opinion issued today. The decision is a win for artist Rick Rush, whose limited-edition lithograph depicting three images of Woods shadowed by those of other golf champions, was deemed by the court to be an "informational and creative" form of "expression which is entitled to the full protection of the First Amendment." ETW Corp., Woods's licensing agent, filed the lawsuit in June 1998 against Jireh Publishing Inc., the Alabama company that published the artwork. The suit was originally dismissed by a district court in Cleveland in 2000. The case had been pending before the appeals court for close to three years. In its appeal, Jireh claimed the painting, titled "The Masters of Augusta," should be afforded First Amendment protection from ETW's claims of federal and state trademark infringement and violation of Woods's right of publicity. "A piece of art that portrays a historic sporting event communicates and celebrates the value our culture attaches to such events," wrote Judge James L. Graham, a district court judge sitting by designation, on behalf of the majority. "It would be ironic indeed if the presence of the image of the victorious athlete would deny the work First Amendment protection." With respect to ETW's trademark claims, the court said Woods was wrong in assuming he had a trademark right to every image produced of himself. "[T]here are undoubtably thousands of images and likenesses of Woods taken by countless photographers, and drawn, sketched, or painted by numerous artists, which have been published in many forms of media, and sold and distributed throughout the world," Graham wrote. "No reasonable person could believe that merely because these photographs or paintings contain Woods's likeness or image, they all originated with Woods," and therefore deserved trademark protection. The court stated, as a general rule, that a person's image or likeness cannot function as a trademark. In response to ETW's claim that Jireh violated Woods's right of publicity -- a form of privacy claim that asserts a right to control the commercial use of one's identity -- the court balanced the "societal and personal interests embodied in the First Amendment" against Woods's property rights. "[W]e conclude that the effect of limiting Woods's right of publicity in this case is negligible and significantly outweighed by society's interest in freedom of artistic expression," Graham wrote. In one of several friend-of-the-court briefs submitted in the case, The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press had argued against adoption of a broad right of publicity. In a dissent, Judge Eric L. Clay said he would have remanded the trademark issue back to the trial court for a determination by a jury. On the right of publicity claim, Clay said he would have found in favor of ETW. In his opinion, the right of free expression did not outweigh Woods's right to control his name and image. ___ RTF mailing list RTF@rolltidefan.net http://rolltidefan.net/mailman/listinfo/rtf_rolltidefan.net
[RollTideFan] Did my part.
I contacted National Geographic about their blatant showing of an elephant's "images and sounds" without the expressed, written consent of the UofA. I sent my rambling comments about the lawsuit to Gaston and Whitt. I expect a full withdrawal of the lawsuit this afternoon. RE: [RollTideFan] Wisconsin hunter wants open season on domestic cats
I didn't think the park owner would let you put up a fence, especially since you're just renting the lot. People should keep their pets in their own yards though. I did see something yesterday that disturbs me. No, it wasn't Jeff nekkid. A car passed the house carrying a child and her dog. Hanging outside the door, was part of the dog's leash. Enough of it to drag on the ground. I sure hope that the other end of the leash was not hooked to the dog's collar. All I could imagine was the part of the leash that was hanging outside the door somehow getting caught on something (at about 50 mph) and yanking the dog towards the door. No doubt snapping the dog's neck. The thought of what else could happen to the dog if the leash got caught is sickening. Here's hoping the doggie is ok. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Pat Smoot Sent: Monday, March 14, 2005 3:59 PM To: RollTideFan - University of Alabama Athletics Discussion List Subject:Re: [RollTideFan] Wisconsin hunter wants open season on domestic cats Here's the way I see it.
