Rick, I was listening to Scott Moore and Jay Barker last Wednesday afternoon - they too were shocked by this article and could not believe that he wrote such an article even being a "slow football week". 'Tis true. There are probably several factors for Zow's struggles. He never seemed the same in 1999 after his ankle injury. Until this year, his head coach was utterly incompetent and the rest of the coaching staff was in disarray. Still, his 2000 season was a pretty dismal one, and that surely didn't help him in his efforts to win the starting job this year.

Isn't it ironic how the media types start spewing racial venom after a coach has closed practice to the media? Ray Melick is a joke. He's a ferret-faced, buck-toothed joke at that. This clown shows up for practice about 30 minutes before practice is over. He comes emptied handed. Nothing to write on, or write with. He stays as far away from the action as possible. Always taking refuge in the shadow cast by the indoor practice facility. He hangs around long enough to show his face at the post-practice press session, then hauls ass with a transcript of the daily media release. Then, this clown uses this press release to bullshit his way through a column. Melick wouldn't even bother to come to Tuscaloosa were it not for the $35.00 he gets paid for mileage.
