Bully XVIII Laid to Rest
Memorial services for "Bully XVIII" mascot were held at Scott
Field/Davis Wade Stadium on Thursday, July 22. "Humphrey Bogart
VIII", an 11 year-old male, AKA registered English bulldog, was
interim mascot "Bully XVIII" from 1999 - 2001. After the comforting
words from many university officials and "Maroon and White" playing
over the sound system, Humphrey was buried at the northeast end-zone
below the flagpole.
Humphrey was owned by Dr. Jeff and Mrs. Glenna Hartsog of Jackson,
MS. Dr. Jeff Hartsog (B.S. '71, M.S. '73) is an adjunct CVM
professor of dentistry. The Hartsogs were kind enough to allow their
beloved bulldog to serve as the university mascot during the search
for our current mascot, Bully XIX ("Tonka").

Gotta give'm credit, they put a hurt'en on us like we put one on the porkers Wednesday night. That is the toughest way to lose. MSU proved they're a very good roundball team. They deserve the SEC crown after coming back the way they did today against a very good Alabama team.
