2007-05-09 Thread Erich.Streib

Hi Dirk,

SA is running on a 32-Bit system. We check serveral servers in serveral
domains. We would like to replace this system by a 64-Bit system. On the 32Bit
System all checks are ok. On 64-Bit System ping- and disk-checks are ok but
services and processes-checks are not ok. User and password are ok because in
the entry-window we can see and select all services/processes.

We suspect that SA does not run correctly on a 64 bit system.

Servers Alive was never tested on a 64 bit system.
If some parts are not working, like process and/or services, then it means that
the APIs that work fine on a 32 bit system are no longer working (correctly) on
a 64 bit system.
What OS are you using?
Is it SA running on the 64 bits system or the system you're checking is 64 bit?
And what error/message do you get?

Thanks to the informative reply from Mark. It is now working. It is exactly
what Mark describes in his email to make it to work.
I am not a HTML programmer and it is delightful to know more about it.

Anyway, here is how to make it work. Hpefully others can make use of it:

The url we submitted is something like this:

http://psf:/psp/psdev/?cmd=login (http://psf:/psp/psdev/?cmd=login)

Opening up the source and go to the line with form, I see:

form action=?cmd=loginlanguageCd=ENG method=post id=login name=login
autocomplete=off onSubmit=signin(document.login)

Then look for input type=text id=userid name=userid value=VP1
class=PSEDITBOX and
   input TYPE=password id=pwd name=pwd class=PSEDITBOX

So in the salive server, I put:

http://psf:/psp/psdev/?cmd=loginuserid=loginNamepwd=password
(http://psf:/psp/psdev/?cmd=loginuserid=loginNamepwd=password)

in the URL to be check and select POST.

Right away, I got the correct web page back.

Thanks to Mark once again.

There is only a VB (source code) example on
http://www.woodstone.nu/salive/addons.asp
(http://www.woodstone.nu/salive/addons.asp)
Once you have the component you will need a unqiue ID from it from us, so that
you can make it available to Servers Alive.

I agree with Dirk, yes I can probably get it to work for you but it would be
better if Woodstone could look at this issue.

This would either use the webapp module in its current state or if it cannot at
present Woodstone may extend its capabilities so that this will then work.

Presumably you have tried the webapp check?

This would be of more benefit to the community.

P.S. Dirk is there some documentation regarding developing component objects?
e.g. specific SA requirements?

If the web-page is doing its own type of redirect then it does not
conform to w3c standards and I can't see how it would be possible as the
Browser passes the parameters between server and client side scripts and
will always get a header response. The only way to circumvent this
would be to have a client side script

A one time a fine user of this group put up a site that allowed other list

Unfortunately it wasn't utilized so I dear say it no longer exists - I can't
seem locate it in either in the archive messages on woodstone or my own

Anyway many thought this was a great idea (including Dirk at the time) to have
this shared space for things like your SQL solution here. Saves repetition etc
etc..

Maybe Dirk you can think about taking up the crusade by making something like
this more accessible to the list off of the SA website?

Just a thought.

Is there really to direct log output into a text file (without having to

For that I enabled in the logging section RRD Roundtrip logging, UpDown

I expected to find a file like salive.log somewhere in the installation
directory but did not found such a file.

Where is the log file located otherwise ?

If you use auto-responders (like out-of-the-office messages), then make sure
that they are not send to the list nor to the individual members of the list
that send a message. Doing this will get you removed from the list.

It seems as though you could benefit by reading the user manual. As a
community we are willing to help but please at least make an effort to find the
answer in the manual before posting here.

The logging is located in file--setup--logging. As you can see by just going
to that section that there is logfile (debugging) which is what posted to the
list yesterday. Statistical logging, interchange logging, uptime logging,
etc. Most can be logged to either a text file or, in the enterprise version, a
database.

can't find any of the values you mentioned to look for in the source of the web
page. Or am looking at the wrong place.

Monitoring Peoplesoft apps)

Thanks to the informative reply from Mark. It is now working. It is exactly
what Mark describes in his email to make it to work.
I am not a HTML programmer and it is delightful to know more about it.

Anyway, here is how to make it work. Hpefully others can make use of it:

The url we submitted is something like this:

http://psf:/psp/psdev/?cmd=login (http://psf:/psp/psdev/?cmd=login)

Opening up the source and go to the line with form, I see:

form action=?cmd=loginlanguageCd=ENG method=post id=login name=login
autocomplete=off onSubmit=signin(document.login)

Then look for input type=text id=userid name=userid value=VP1
class=PSEDITBOX and
   input TYPE=password id=pwd name=pwd class=PSEDITBOX

Woodstone can have a look at it IF we would get access to such a website.

As separate checks?

Apologies but as I don't know how salive check works internally, will it
cache and pass cookies back in, for example dependant checks?

Still it could work fine using the webapp checker as you can GET/POST
several URLS one-after-the-other.

If the web-page is doing its own type of redirect then it does not
conform to w3c standards and I can't see how it would be possible as the
Browser passes the parameters between server and client side scripts and
will always get a header response. The only way to circumvent this
would be to have a client side
