RE: [SA-list] Servers Alive and virtualization checks
A little update on this What is already in the current beta (for v8) (can be found on http://beta.woodstone.nu) * ALERT: start/stop VM in Hyper-V * ALERT: start/stop VM in ESXi * CHECK: get parameter from Hyper-V What will be added (around virtualisation) * CHECK: get parameter from Hyper-V and check the actual value of the parameter (must be running or CPU must be below 50 for example) * CHECK: get parameter (and check value) in ESXi * ALERT/CHECK: where we're now talking about "standalone" ESXi, we will add Vcenter/vSphere ESXi too Testing is done towards Hyper-V on win2008 - win2012 - win2016 (tech previous or newer when available) VMWare: v5.x and v6.x As always do test the beta and give us feedback. I think that we should have more specific virtulization based checks. Now the first thing that pops-up is, will it be VMWare or Hyper-V or both? Ofcourse both would be best, but I would like to know what you guys are using (and would like to monitor). Also tell me what you would like to monitor via Servers ALive on those platforms. dirk -- Dirk Bulinckx Servers Alive - http://www.woodstone.nu DNS Hosting on StellarDNS - http://www.stellardns.com To unsubscribe send a message with UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line to salive@woodstone.nu If you use auto-responders (like out-of-the-office messages), make sure that they are not sent to the list nor to individual members. RE: [SA-list] Servers Alive and virtualization checks
Hi, We are using Hyper-V too. In addition to what Jason Passow already mentioned: - all things that can be changed while the VM is running o Yes or no connected to a virtual switch o Yes or no connected SCSI disk o Version of the Integration services in the VM, compared to the version of the Hyper-V host o With Intergration services are checked/unchecked (ex. Time Sync) o Existence of a snapshot (I doesn’t want that on my production servers, but sometimes it happens…) o Name of the hostserver - things that can’t be changed while the VM is running o number CPU’s o size of RAM o MAC address o automatic stop/start action o Etc… Kind regards, Pieter From: Servers Alive Discussion List [mailto:salive@woodstone.nu] On Behalf Of Jason Passow Sent: donderdag 16 april 2015 16:20 To: Servers Alive Discussion List Subject: Re: [SA-list] Servers Alive and virtualization checks We use Hyper-V here. We are also using VSphere and any or all of the checks on the list from Anthony would be of interest to us as well. EVERETTE R.
