Files on nvg without read/write privileges

2008-04-11 Thread Thomas Harte

Hi,

I notice that the following files from /pub/sam-coupe/disks/games/
Commercial are given read/write privileges only for 'owner', with
'group' and 'others' being given only execute privileges (so, e.g. the
files can't be downloaded):

Craft.zip
MindGames1Bombed OutNuclearWasteMagicCavesBlockade.zip
Impatience-TriltexVikingGame(Cracked).zip
BowinandtheCountDracula.zip
PrinceofPersia.zip
TNT.zip
HighwayCodeQuizballQuizballQuestionEditor(Cracked).zip
DyzoniumWaterWorksWopGammaBugulators(Cracked).zip

As the owner is frodet and every other file I've checked has had read
privileges set for 'group' and 'others', is it right to conclude that
this was a deliberate move, maybe to ensure the files were backed up
but not to distribute them for now, for legal reasons?

PC - SAM Picture conversion

2008-04-11 Thread Leszek Chmielewski

Hi there!

After giving up my old BMP2SCR I'm working currently on Retro-X, which
can convert PC images to SAM Coupé Modes 1-4, and save them in MGT
container.

This is a unfinished work in Progress version:
http://rapidshare.com/files/106078373/Retro-X_WIP6.zip.html
It is very different from BMP2SCR, better and faster, but instruction is
in german only, for the moment.
There are different conversion modes like midtone, error diffusion and
ordered dither.
I hope you don't mind that there are also some other computers
supported: Spectrum, QL, Amstrad CPC, MSX, C64...
If you have comments, please note that I'm currently moving, so tommorow
I will be for two weeks away from internet.

Yeah, a safe assumption to make, that'll be what Frode is doing.

Just quickly looking at the list and picking out a few titles: Craft was
published by Phoenix originally, as part of their Dyadic compilation, that
may still lie with David L. T'n'T is Matt Round's - he allowed it on a past
issue of SAM Revival but as far as I am aware he hasn't distributed it
elsewhere yet. Depending on which version of Bowen it is I may (or may not)
have the copyright on audio stuff in it.

About the only software I ever saw to support it was Nigel
Kettlewell's KPALETTE routine in SAM PRIME disk mag

Yeap, likewise when I went hunting around.

SAM PRIME issue 3 I think it was, one of the first disk mags I ever bought
all those years ago when I first got a SAM!
