Hi there. I am in contact with Simon Goodwin and have news. This is an extract from one of his last mails, where I asked him to to ask Andy Wright to make Masterdos free available: You asked me to check the legal status of MasterDOS with Andy, so I did: *** Forwarded message, originally from Andrew J A Wright at 17/09/03 *** Hi Si, ... MasterDOS binaries can be freely distributed. Not sure where the MasterBasic source is - I gave you a disc of something, but what was it? ... Why not get the same with ROM 3.0? However, I am in hold of the SAM COUPE ROM 3.0 SOURCE CODE, Copyright Andrew J.A. Wright 1989-90. But I know Wolfgang FvE wrote: How about making it downloadable until permission is denied? Re: ROM Disassembly
I can respect that. But the file SAMBasicROMv3src.zip in ftp://ftp.nvg.ntnu.no/pub/sam-coupe/sources/ is not locked. The file I mentioned earlier SAM_ROM_v30_Disassembly_Annotated.pdf.gz in ftp://ftp.nvg.ntnu.no/pub/sam-coupe/docs/ however is. The first I already have and is also available on the samco news disks I was interrested in the later one because it is 1.8Megs Hopefully, someone can askIn the meantime I have locked the file again... :) -Frode Somebody ask !! Thanks to all for replying. Edwin

Earlier I wrote: Simon Goodwin is still in touch with Andy Wright, so it might be worth checking with him. Speaking of Simon, Andy and the SAM ROM... I've uploaded an archive containing 13 versions of the SAM ROM to incoming on NVG. Simon sent them to me a while back, with permission from Andy to make them freely available. I left out the version 1.1 ROM as it doesn't appear to be in the correct format, but will upload a good copy if I can find one. The ROMs aren't really of very much practical use, but still worth preserving as part of SAM's history :-) Si

Actually, something that is missing from my library... a fiver, you say? :) Yup... if you want it. On a different point, I figured recently that there must be quite a lot of SAM techincal info that gets used quite a bit but is hidden in the murky depths of the technical manual or various disczines, or nowhere at all, and I was wondering if it would be worth putting together some sort of SAM quick-reference sheets. Either a short (20 page or so) A5 book with all the key data, or a number of filofax-size sheets. What do people think? Andy
