[Samba] Printing problems with samba 3.0.23c and NT4
Hi everyone! I have upgrade my fileserver from samba2-smbpasswd to samba3.0.23c with LDAP-PDC. Now i can't print to the printers on that server with NT4. net use ... is functional, but if I print to that printer, I get the error - free translated from german message - The syntax of the filename, directory name or the disc-label is wrong. WinXP hasn't that problem. The share is defined in this way: [global] ... printing = BSD ... [pspdf] path = /tmp printable = yes print command = /usr/local/bin/samba2pdf %s %U use client driver = yes I have played with use client driver, with no success. Is the printing-support for NT4 broken? [Samba] More problems with samba 3.0.23c and NT4
Hi everyone! I have some trouble with samba 3.0.23 as PDC for NT4 workstations with SP6a. I have upgraded from samba2. 1. The ntconfig.pol from the netlogon-share does'nt work. I get a prf1.tmp in the User-Profile-Folder and the policy wouldn't mix to the registry. In the Event-Log I found an entry RegLoadKey ist mit dem Fehler 87 für C:\WINNT\Profiles\aba\prfD.tmp gescheitert. EventId:1000 from Userenv. The same with an XP-computer works without problems. 2. I haven't the security-tag in the property-window of a file or directory on the samba-shares. The tab is there under winxp but not in NT4. Is there something broken?? [Samba] samba with cups / security = share
Hi, I have a new samba/cups printer server. The security is set to SHARE so everyone in the network can add and print to our printers even if they doesn't have any account on the server. To be able to upload printer drivers one need to log in as administrator, but one can't do that unless the security is set to USER and a login screen appears. During this time everyone is locked out from all printers. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can solve this problem? This doesn't work for me: net use t: \\server\print$ /user:administrator Peter Nyberg Institutionen för Biokemi och Biofysik (DBB) Sv.Arrhenius vägen 12 106 91 Stockholm Tel: 08-16 24 69 -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
[Samba] WinXP Prof Users can't delete there files
Hello again, I ancounter another problem. When a user logs in with a Windows XP Prof. machine he can't delete the file/folder again. He can add a file/folder and can do everything with it but but not delete it again. Not even a view to the seetings is possible (all right-click things don't work). When the user uses a Windows 2000 machine he can do everything just fine (create, move, settings, delete, etc.) I only can solve this problem when I create a domain user (i.e. User/domain.com) in the Win XP computer. Then, he can do all things perfectly included delete the file. With Windows 2000 I don't have these problems. Ok, after some investigation, it seem that is a problem with cups. - The printer work fine but i use the detected printer on my networks to create the printer queue. I dont know why it doesnt work But if i use a manual (in cups choose administration - add printer - not add tis printer - and follow the configuration process) way to create it, samba then was able to seen the print queue and can share it! [Samba] looking for good DFS implementation advice
I have read through some of the info on using dfs roots and I am needing some advice. Since a unc is still \\servername\ based it occurs to me that the only way to do this properly is to create a smb.conf file that publishes a netbios name like \\dfsroot -- Then, to create a failover system, I would take that config file and copy it around to multiple samba server. Then, have some kind of watch or heartbeat like monitor (that would only monitor where the name and services called \\dfsroot was still alive and responding) that would wait untill \\dfsroot no longer responded (where ever it was). Then, if \\dfsroot failed to respond, it new \\dfsroot smbserver would be launched to take over. Conceptually, the smb service that is known as \\dfsroot really is just a 'share directory service'. It doesn't have to have any other shares that it serves. It could be guest readable. Is this a close approximation to the way it works? -- David Bear phone: 602-496-0424 fax:602-496-0955 College of Public Programs/ASU University Center Rm 622 411 N Central Phoenix, AZ 85007-0685 Beware the IP portfolio, everyone will be suspect of trespassing -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: https://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba

We don't need to mess with the values in these cases. Where we do convert the values, try and convert substrings. This isn't going to be perfect, but we should try rather than segfault. It caused the RPC-SECRETS test to crash smbd in an inlined version of this memcmp() call. This patch should have absolutely no effect at all, but in fact it prevents the crash. Disassembling at the point of the crash, it shows that gcc is inlining the memcmp(). I don't know enough MIPS assembler to actually spot the bug. Author: tridge Date: 2006-09-14 18:46:10 + (Thu, 14 Sep 2006) New Revision: 18535 WebSVN: http://websvn.samba.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi?view=revroot=sambarev=18535 Log: move the AC_CANONICAL_HOST and host specific flag tests into libreplace. This should fix the standalone build of tdb on HPUX, where we need to blacklist mmap. Unfortunately this requires that we have a copy of config.guess and config.sub in each of our project subdirectories. I tried to find a way to use something like AC_CONFIG_AUX_DIR($libreplacedir) and just put config.{guess, sub} in the lib/replace/ directory, but I couldn't figure out how to do that in a way that kept autoconf happy for each of our separate builds. Any autoconf guru out there see a way to do this? work around what appears to be a compiler bug in gcc on irix. arrgh, sorry, the above should say 'cc' not 'gcc'. With gcc the old code was fine. The bug occurs with MIPSpro Compilers: Version 7.4. The compilation options are cc -c99 -g Cheers, Tridge
