Re: [Samba] error in module acl: insufficient access rights (50)

2010-12-10 Thread dobrima...@yahoo.pl
André, thanks, you're right. I've done it like you said.

That's what I received (13 frames) from Wireshark after importing the dump file
from tcpdump (tcpdump -i lo -vv -X -w dump 'tcp port 389'):
http://pastebin.com/dtGJD1G5
The dump is made after executing perl script that I attached in my first mail.

I hope that will be useful to solve my problem. I will be very grateful for any
tips.

Regards.

Wireshark is not needed on the
 server.

You only need tcpdump with the -w filename option. This
ouput file can later be opened with wireshark.

  Thanks for answer.

The error code is 50. Actually I can't check it by
Wireshark because I don't have graphic interface on my
 server machine where's Samba4 running.

Please give me a clue why it won't work. It's very
important to me. Maybe I need to use SASL (but how? which
 mechanism should I use?).

Yes, use the current GIT tree. We hope to make an alpha14 release soon,
but there isn't any particular value in waiting for it.

We do have a number of production sites running Samba, including with
multiple servers and migrated domains from Windows. A single DC
install is very simple in comparison :-).

You are free (indeed, it's better) to ask questions about Samba4 on the

The code is still alpha, but that mostly means that we need you to work

Probably because the ls is hung and is holding references to the mount...

I've successfully tested against netapp's CIFS implementation in the
past, but there are significant bugs in it. The errors you're seeing
look like an alignment problem of some sort -- i.e. the server is
sending packets that have incorrect length fields in them. This isn't
the first such problem I've seen with OnTap.

You're welcome to open a bug at bugzilla.samba.org, cc me, and I'll
take a look when I have time. Gathering wire captures during one of
these events and attaching them to the bug would help to track down the
problem. It's likely to be Netapp's bug however...

NetApp explicitly refuses to fix anything that is outside
their supported client matrix. I've heard that from NetApp
reps responsible for my customers. cifsfs is outside that
matrix. NetApp's fix is to tell people to use NFS when
coming from Linux.

I am going to make such an install for a site with some 50 users (and frankly
speaking, I am frightened ... so give me some courage!)

Running samba4 in production for nearly 3 years now, no big big problem
(well a couple of quite annoying bugs in the first 6 months, but since
then it's quite smooth).

Do a daily backup of your samba provision (use
scripting/bin/samba_backup) and put a script to monitor the state of
samba4's ldap (ie:

 while true; do
ldbsearch -H ldap://localhost '(samaccountname=administrator)'
if [ $? -ne 0 ]; then
do_restart
fi
sleep 60
)

As for the moment we only start 1 ldap task if the samba process which
is holding this task is killed (because of segfault) you'll find
yourself without ldap which is not very a good thing ...

Been using it for 8 months now. 3 Samba4 servers and a W2K3R2 and
Samba4 as PDC, no real problems. Bit more lag than I'd like with
account updates across controllers. DNS can give a few headaches, esp.
if you're not comfortable with BIND. I'm quite comfortable with it for
a reasonbly small deployment.

Samba domain is compatible with NT domain, so you need to use system

heimdal: unset SLIST_ENTRY only if we are with windows

This is needed because otherwise on some OS like netbsd, openbsd,MacOSX.

The preprossessing of ./heimdal/lib/gssapi/mech/cred.h on this plateform
is broken because mechqueue.h's definition won't be used as SLIST_HEAD
is already defined.
The definition occurs when net/if.h is included as it includes
sys/queue.h

Author: James Peach jpe...@samba.org

smbtorture: correct error handling in BASE-OPEN.

There are a number of cases in BASE-OPEN where an initial failure cascades
into multiple failures due to lack of cleanup between test phases. Fix
all these so that they close open file handles correctly. Replace
torture_comment with torture_result where appropriate so that the results
output contains a useful diagnostic.

smbtorture: correct error handling in BASE-OPEN.
