I'm wondering is there a config file or something that needs to be fixed
or could it be a bug in the backend. and preferably if somebody nows a
 workaround for this.
It doesn matter wether I use xsane or scanimage the image is just as
small. and the preview is just as small its' like the scanner thinks
 its' only this small

As mentioned in previous answers to questions about the 3770 and 8200
backends, it's binary-only code made by HP which is not related to the
sane-backends distribution. The chance that someone on this list can
give any support is therefore quite low.

I guess I'll mention this in the scanner lists somehow.

Bye,
  Henning

Subject: [sane-devel] Xerox Workcentre PE16 and Samsung driver.
Message-ID: 43749aac.8010...@cro-rct.ru

Hello all (and the Moderator).

In accordance with
http://www.sane-project.org/unsupported/xerox-workcentre-pe16.html , I
tried to use the Xerox PE16 machine with Samsung propietary backend.

The result is really funny: Samsung backend recognizes this device as
SAMSUNG WorkCentre PE16 flatbed scanner. Note the combined correct
device name and wrong vendor name.

The further step fails for very natural reason:

sane_open - device name SAMSUNG WorkCentre PE16 on USB:0cannot open!

Yes, of course: USB:0 is Xerox WorkCentre PE16, not SAMSUNG... .

Any ideas? How can I rename an USB device?

Just a note: Samsung mfp kernel drivers should neither be installed
nor work: these drivers are for LPT connection only.

Please reply to my personal address, I am not subscribed.

Alexey

For status see this page:

If you have more info on this scanner use the form to add information.
No backend exists and no one seems to be busy with it.
