In pursuit of this goal, the Project Manager will need to: manage relationships with multiple stakeholders; assemble and manage a cross-functional team of technologists and analysts; define implementation plans and estimate schedule, effort and cost; assess the quality of the work; manage progress, risks and problems throughout the project life cycle; manage multiple concurrent projects with shared resources; and, ensure the customer’s satisfaction with the final product. The ideal candidate will have experience establishing excellent project management practices and have a track record of continuously raising the bar and solving problems. He will have experience using multiple solution development methods and be capable of selecting the correct approach for any given project. He should also have experience with a wide variety of information technology platforms including custom and packaged software solutions. The ideal candidate will have an excellent track record managing complex projects in challenging, dynamic environments. The role will report to the Development Manager. The right candidate for this position will: - Look beneath the surface to perceive the true state of projects, anticipate risks and problems and mitigate them. - Continuously learn from problems and improve Bridgewater’s capabilities. - Engage in constructive debate and conflict in order to arrive at better solutions. - Open-mindedly evaluate the trade-offs among options and demonstrate good judgment - Think critically about the goals, deliverables and plans for projects to ensure alignment - Demonstrate mental agility and the ability to adapt to a changing environment - Take ownership of problems and goals rather than simply applying best efforts *Description* *The Project Manager is responsible for driving and delivering highly complex projects for the Client Services Technology department. * Some activities this implies are: - Defining and managing the scope, schedule and plan for projects throughout the life cycle. - Assembling an excellent team of internal and external resources, and managing them throughout the project. - Managing all significant issues and risks and escalating as necessary. - Making the project transparent to the sponsors and stakeholders. - Managing relationships with internal and external partners. - Continuously improving own and CS Tech’s capabilities to deliver projects.Ensuring business requirements are well documented and understood by the entire team - Constantly challenging the benefits of a project and ensuring that the project goals are aligned with the business strategy. *Position Requirements:* § Has 5-7+ years of experience (see below) in managing complex software projects in demanding environments. § Has experience using multiple solution development life cycles (e.g. RUP, Agile, etc.) § Experienced in building and leading high performance teams. § Experienced in managing technology and consulting vendor relationships. *Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:* - PMP or other similar industry certifications - Experience managing the development of custom and packaged applications for internal and external users - Knowledge about or experience with capital markets or portfolio management - Experience with front office technologies such as CRM, Business Intelligence, Workflow / Process Management, Knowledge Management, etc. - Experience managing a portfolio of applications - *Core Criteria* * * 1. *Management Ability* - Holds people accountable; courage to challenge individuals on meeting their responsibilities excellently. - Extremely organized. Herds cats. Hates loose ends. Can handle several direct reports without being overwhelmed. - Lots of common sense. Excellent judgment and independent thinker. - Good communicator. The Project Manager need to query, discuss, and debate with an array of stakeholders, and counterparts – and do so with agility and at the right level. Good in person and in writing. - Can manage and develop people: hire, coach, interview, manage, evaluate, and remove as required 1. *Program/Project Management Knowledge and Experience* - Experience. 5+ years of responsibility for project delivery. 7+ years of total related experience in project management or development. - Knowledge of project delivery methodologies, especially Agile / Scrum. - Understands what processes are suited to different kinds of projects – very important.
