Client is seeking a PeopleSoft DBA in Austin, TX.  This is a contract
position with the client. Work with multiple IT teams and functional
departments to develop, maintain, and enhance Enterprise PeopleSoft
Applications and Oracle databases.



*Essential Functions*

· Manage PeopleSoft environments including installation, upgrades,
patches, replication, data refreshes, performance tuning, and monitoring of
Web and Application servers.

· Manage all production and non-production Oracle databases,
including installation, upgrades, patches, backups and recovery,
replication, archiving, security, tuning, disaster recovery, monitoring,
and validation to support departmental and organizational needs.

· Proactively manage the database environment to identify and
recommend alternatives to poorly coded applications, including consulting
with end users and developers to recommend the most appropriate database
solution. Assist application development with database design
considerations. Assist in the designs of data security models to help
protect the University's data. Comply with existing standards, document and
communicate any system changes.

· Provide service and support determined by the current Service
Level Agreements, including on-call support. Provide 3rd level support for
database and systems problems, working with IT personnel to resolve
database issues.

· Perform impact analysis on all PeopleSoft and PeopleTools
updates, and provide proposals for applying them effectively.

· Other duties as assigned.



*Requirements:*

· 3+ years plus of progressively responsible computer systems
management and analysis experience.

· 3+ years’ experience as an Oracle DBA (Oracle 10g/11g) which
includes Oracle database replication, database migrations, and upgrades and
experience with database backup and recovery (including RMAN); 3+ years’
experience as a PeopleSoft DBA and/or PeopleSoft Administrator (PeopleTools
8.x, Database upgrade/Data Management Tools, PeopleSoft Application/Tools
Upgrade);

· Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Enterprise Portal,
HCM, Financials, EPM, and/or CRM. It is imperative that someone have an
understanding how the PS modules integrate together and talk to each other

· 3+ years’ experience with UNIX/LINUX Shell scripting. This OS
experience is vital so when a performance issue comes up, this resource is
able to look at the OS as well as the database.

· General understanding of all phases of the application
development lifecycle and project management disciplines.

· Excellent organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and
communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to work well with people
in all levels of the organization and handle fast paced, dynamic, sometimes
volatile environment.


*Preferred Qualifications*

· Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel).

· Oracle DBA Certifications and Certifications in supported
technologies.

Purpose of position:

Work with multiple IT teams and functional departments to develop, maintain,
and enhance Enterprise PeopleSoft Applications and Oracle databases. 


 

Essential functions:

Manage PeopleSoft environments including installation, upgrades, patches,
replication, data refreshes, performance tuning, and monitoring of Web and
Application servers. Manage all production and non-production Oracle
databases, including installation, upgrades, patches, backups and recovery,
replication, archiving, security, tuning, disaster recovery, monitoring, and
validation to support departmental and organizational needs. Proactively
manage the database environment to identify and recommend alternatives to
poorly coded applications, including consulting with end users and
developers to recommend the most appropriate database solution. Assist
application development with database design considerations. Assist in the
designs of data security models to help protect the University's data.
Comply with existing standards, document and communicate any system changes.
Provide service and support determined by the current Service Level
Agreements, including on-call support. Provide 3rd level support for
database and systems problems, working with IT personnel to resolve database
issues. Perform impact analysis on all PeopleSoft and PeopleTools updates,
and provide proposals for applying them effectively. 


 

Required qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent work
experience). 10+ years experience in systems analysis, design, and software
programming including: 5+ years experience as an Oracle DBA (Oracle
9i/10g/11g) which includes Oracle database replication, database migrations,
and upgrades and experience with database backup and recovery (including
RMAN); 3+ years experience as a PeopleSoft DBA and/or PeopleSoft
Administrator (PeopleTools 8.x, Database upgrade/Data Management Tools,
PeopleSoft Application/Tools Upgrade); 5+ years experience with UNIX/LINUX
Shell scripting. General understanding of all phases of the application
development lifecycle and project management disciplines. Strong MS Office
skills (Word, Excel). Applicants must include in their online resume the

PeopleSoft Applications. Excellent organization, teamwork, problem-solving,
and communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to work well with
people in all levels of the organization and handle fast paced, dynamic,
sometimes volatile environment.

Job description : DBA with PeopleSoft experience, preferable in a
Higher Education environment.

Qualifications:
• Installation and configuration of PeopleSoft database, application
and web servers on UNIX and Windows environments.
• Manage PeopleSoft environments and develop appropriate strategies
(such as: instance, backup/recovery, security, etc.)
• Understand PeopleSoft architecture and technology stack. Familiarity
with multi-tiered topology using SSL and load-balancing is a definite
benefit. Must be able to

manage relationship with client architects
• Apply patches and communicate with project team including
Integrator, client and contract resources
• Familiar with PeopleSoft instance cloning techniques.
• Offer suggestions to improve performance of database or servers
• Provide best practices in the area of PeopleSoft System
Administration
• Understand Unix and Windows O/S and how they need to be configured
to support a PeopleSoft database, application, and web server
• Experience with Oracle RMAN, Enterprise Manager, 10G Database and
development tools such as TOAD will be considered
• High availability experience with RAC, Disaster Recovery, Storage
Management is an asset

The job description is below. 

Sr Oracle Database Administrator to support ongoing production maintenance
and phased rollout implementation of the HR and Benefits functions of
PeopleSoft HRMS for the Client  Automated Personnel System (NYCAPS).

 

Primary responsibilities will be to work closely with the application
development and production support teams to monitor SQL performance and tune
inefficient Peoplesoft SQL. Other responsibilities will include, database
backup and recovery, installation and migration of Oracle software, and
general administration of Oracle databases

 

Required Qualifications: 

*  10+ years experience supporting Peoplesoft applications and has
strong SQL tuning skills.

*  Strong background in performance and tuning of very complex
Peoplesoft SQL. 

*  Experience with Oracle 10G, Peoplesoft application and architecture,
Oracle procedures, RMAN, AIX Shell scripting, database tuning, and
configuration.  

*  Experience with Oracle GRID, RAC, Oracle Transparent Gateway, EMC
Symmetrics, Netbackup, BCVs and Mainframe DB2 would be a plus.

*  Individual will be required to provide production 24/7 coverage on
rotating shift and support weekend implementations.
