Hi,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

Registration MUST be in English, even if I'm personally able to
understand French without troubles.

"Linux" is just a kernel of a more complex system
that we like to refer to as GNU/Linux, to emphasize
the ideals of the Free Software movement.

Would you mind changing references to Linux as an OS
to GNU/Linux?

Savannah's mission is to host free software projects, and
we want the public to think of them as free software projects. A
project name that says "open" will tend to lead people to think of
the project as "open source" instead of "free software".
 We
would be glad if you accept to use "free" instead of "open" in
your project name.

Noone HAVE access with SSH but the Savannah administrator. That's
probably a reason why Savannah has never been compromised.

sftp never worked as it should, that's true (however it works for some
users). Nobody is apparently able to provide sftp working in a secure
way for the whole system and the sftp documentation is very poor.

But Savannah do not currently support arch. While if some users find a
way to use it on Savannah, there's no problem for us.

But we cannot provide help for a service we do not offer. We plan to
offer the choice between CVS and arch and subversion, but it's still a
plan.

And sftp is not supported either. We always knew it was somehow partly
broken but it was just an extra tool to help users unfamiliar with
rsync. It has never been designed to be a way to use arch.

So if you have a nice solution to propose, we would be glad to ear
it. Having the whole server wide browsable by savannah's users is not
an option (too risky -- sourceforge has been compromised so many times
by being so permissive). So if you have proposal to fix sftp with
chrooted/jailed access, please provide information. If you don't,
another solution is to propose a plan for the addition of arch
support.

You have a software to release, sure. But you cannot expect
unsupported tools (both sftp and arch) to be our priority
matter. Security of the whole system is the top priority matter, and
having no chroot for sftp would disregard that priority.

[Savannah-hackers] Savannah sftp broken again!

2003-09-16 Thread Jonathan Walther
I finally got all the pieces together and tried to create an arch
repository on Savannah.
What did I find? I could not. The error looked suspiciously similar to
one I'd seen before, one I had helped fix.
I logged in and took a look at the sshd config file. As I suspected.

Somehow, Savannah switched back to a version of the configuration file
that doesn't work.
Can someone please restore it to a working version. I didn't expect a
lot from Savannah, because I know you admins are hard working and have
limited time because you are volunteers.
But I have ship dates to meet, or my project will lose credibility. A
lot of people have been contributing to Xouvert, and the success of the
project reflects directly on them.
It is important that Savannah support sftp access.

The way Savannah is set up right now, chroot access for sftp is NOT
possible.
Someone switched the sshd configuration to use the so-called "chroot"
version of the sftp subsystem. This does not work, it has never worked,
and it CANNOT work. Any project that wants to have an arch repository
needs it to work, including my project.
sftp has never yet been compromised, and the version of ssh on Savannah
is up to date. The directory permissions are set correctly. What is to
worry about? Noone is able to access anything with sftp they cannot
ALREADY access with ssh.
Please, reenable the proper, working sftp subsystem. It won't
compromise system security, but what you currently have does compromise
system usability. I have software to ship.
I hope this can be resolved amicably and swiftly.

let me get this straight...

savannah users (those who are registered, have valid accounts etc) get
a normal full ssh shell account on this machine, not chrooted. sftp
only allows connections from these same authenticated real accounts
(no `anonymous'), and yet sftp is being chrooted?

as a sysadmin myself, ill state that this makes no sense. sftp is
only available to the same users who already have a full shell, there
is no additional threat from it that is not already present by
allowing shell access.

[Savannah-hackers] hard disk space on your ~/ at Savannah

2003-09-16 Thread Mathieu Roy
Hi,

We have disk space issues at Savannah.

You receive this mail because you have more than 5MB in your home
directory at Savannah (more than 40MB and 100MB for some of you).

It would be helpful if you could remove or move the data you have your
the Savannah /home directory.

We cannot currently store personal data on this computer as we barelly
can store projects data -- currently backups are on the same HD than
cvs directories, with is a concern.

A new HD is on the way but it will take some time.

PS:
If you have no longer access to the server of a reason of another
(Loic used to keep an exhaustive list accepted shell user), tell us
and we will at your option remove the files or send it to you.
PS2:
If the shell access is not useful to you currently, we would prefer
set your account on a normal cvs/rsync/scp access, just in case your
own, at your home, account get cracked. It's always possible to get
back a normal shell if there's a need later.

Regards,

I am trying to use the lwIP to my project: hitachi h8s2357

micro and CS8900a ethernet chip. I am currently having some

problems to develope

the cs8900a driver.

I connect my device to a PC, using an ethernet crossing

cable and my device get an event when an UDP message is

received, comming from the PC. But I am not able to

actually read the message.

Do you know if lwIP has been ported already to an H8s micro

or if there is a cs8900a device driver available?

Hi,

Savannah hackers do not manage the mail server. But as
people that usually manage the mail server are too busy,
we asked to be able to manage this server too, and we will
soon be able to do so.

So we will be able to provide information and fix, that's
we're currently unable to do.

Please accept our apologies.

Thanks in advance,

Natalia Aramayo

Could you please change above to "libmatheval library". I apologize for
the error, I already mentioned that the name of library is just changed
from "libevaluator" to "libmatheval", so this is probably why I made
above error.

Thanks also for having me refreshing my french :))

OUPS, I made a mistake. I renamed your old project with the new
name... and deleted the new registration... and so erasing both the
old project and the new registration :(

I fixed that trouble by recreating the project.

Hum, we have a bug in the i18n related to automated mails. :|

2003-09-16 Thread yeupou

Un projet a été soumis à savannah.gnu.org

Mathieu Roy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> a décrit le projet comme suit :
Licence: gpl
Autre Licence:
Paquet: libmatheval library
Nom système: libmatheval
Type: GNU

Description:
libmatheval is a library which contains several procedures that make it

possible to create an in-memory tree from the string representation of a

mathematical function over single or multiple variables. This tree can be used

later to evaluate a function for specified variable values, to create a

corresponding tree for the function derivative over a specified variable, or to

write a textual tree representation to a specified string. The library exposes

C and Fortran interfaces.

his project is now approved by rms as part of GNU Project. This project is

already hosted on Savannah, as non-GNU project; but name change was requested

among other changes during its approval as part of GNU project. So I need also

libevaluator project to be deleted from Savannah.

It's done. But it's only a temporary solution. So the next time that
soemone go in the coloc facility, it would be really great to have the
new hard disk installed.

Apart the fact that the space we have will not be enough for a year,
we also have backup on the same Hard Disk than the cvs
directory. Which is unsafe by nature, but no other Hard Disk have
enough room for the backups.

[Savannah-hackers] SSH access

2003-09-16 Thread Martijn Ras
Heya Folks,

I've set up everything according the instruction of the User Docs, CVS
works fine. However, when i want to access the server via SSH i get the
following error:

sftp -1 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/upload/mozilla-nl
Connecting to savannah.nongnu.org...
Enter passphrase for RSA key '/home/Martijn/.ssh/identity':
You tried to execute: `/usr/local/bin/cvssh -c

Sorry, you are only allowed to execute :
   - CVS_RSH=ssh cvs commands
   - rsync from /cvsroot or /upload.
   - rsync to /upload.
   - sftp to /upload.
   - scp to /upload.
Connection closed

So far, i've only very occosionally had to have files removed, so
posting here was a decent work around ... however, since i'm about to do
a major overhaul of my project i'd really like to finally be able to
take care of it myself and stop bothering you ...

So, can you please help me get SSH acces sorted out?

Mazzel,

Martijn.

Description:
These programs (the aim is to provide many applets) try to help

Now, FetchmailMon is in its early stages: only one tool is

So I can hide it and forget it ?, then redirect subscribers

There is no valuable content to be saved in this list and I

saved the list of subscribers. So they don't have to worry

about restoring content. If they just delete it, I can

subcribe everybody (few people) to a new list. If they

repair it, it's OK too ;-)

[Savannah-hackers] Re: [gnu.org #91570] GNU Evaluation team pages are broken

2003-09-16 Thread Mathieu Roy

This project is set as private. So the permission is not given to
viewcvs to browse his CVS repository (not possible to map permissions
from Savannah to viewcvs).

The only way out is to give a public status to viewcvs.
