Eragon was on satellite Saturday morning so, having nothing better to
do, I watched it. Watching the first five minutes I could tell why it
hadn't done better in American where it stalled at $75 million (I was
shocked to see it had done $249,331,536 worldwide). It is too dank,

There are certain visual pleasures to be had in this movie. Foremost
among them for me were Djimon Hounsou and Caroline Chikezie playing a
regal father and daughter. Hounsou and Chikezie glow like burnished
wood in their small roles. They are gorgeous and the camera loves
them. Chikezie's role is tiny, but she is everything an African queen

Re: [scifinoir2] Captain America returns for troops

2007-11-11 Thread KeithBJohnson
He'll be back. Despite what Marvel says, he has to be back. One, he's one of
the most iconic comic characters around. Even if he doesn't have the cool or
name recognition factor of Spidey, Wolvie, Supes or Bats, he's been around too
long to be gone forever. Second, Cap is just about inseparable from the
Avengers. He's been a part of that time for most of its run, and they're never
long without him and never the same without him.

Third, the Civil War has left the Marvel Universe in a type of police state,
with Tony Stark, Hank Pym, and Reed Richards acting much like the super
megalomaniacs they usually fight: creating clones of Thor to fight for the
Registration side (that last got Starks' a$$ *kicked* by a recently returned
Thor!), creating the gulag in the Negative Zone to hold criminals (and heroes
who don't play ball), using all kinds of questionable means to empower
superheroes for the Initiative (the plan to have one super team in each of the
fifty states). They've lost their moral compass, and the few left actively
fighting--Luke Cage, Wolvie, Spidey--are on the run, and in spidey's case,
trying to preven May from dying. So Captain America is needed to return sanity
and some kind of ethics to the world. I figure that sometime after the return
of mutants--once Wanda Maximoff's spell is reversed--Cap will return. It might
be in a new body, maybe his mind was transferred to another place just before
his
body died. After all, the Skull is currently residing in another man's body,
and mad scientist Arnim Zola is on the scene, and he specializes in mind
transfer. So Cap may return.

And finally, Marvel's greenlighted a movie based on Cap, and I can't see the
character staying dead in the comics when the movie hits the big screen. he'll
be back.

-- Original message --
From: "ravenadal" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Captain America may not be back from the dead, but he's back - sort
of. Four months after Marvel Comics unexpectedly killed off the
champion of liberty and the American way, he appears in a comic book
made exclusively for U.S. soldiers.

He is seen on a videotape made before his death.

One million copies of "The New Avengers: The Spirit of America," the
fifth in Marvel's series for the military, will be available for free
starting Saturday at military base stores worldwide.

The Star-Spangled Avenger's appearance is expected to created a demand
for the comic, once word spreads among collectors.

"If you really, really want one, you need to know someone in the
military," said Jim Skibo, director of support for the Dallas based Army
& Air Force Exchange Service, which is distributing the comic.

Captain America, whose secret identity was Steve Rogers, was felled by
an assassin's bullet on the steps of a New York federal courthouse in
a July issue after 66 years of battling villians from Adolf Hitler to
the Red Skull.

Captina America is not being resurrected in "Spirit of America," said
Bob Sabouni, Marvel's vice president of business development.

But when AAFES asked Marvel officials to include the hero in the
latest militaryh issue to be released before Veterans Day, they agreed
because no other character better symbolizes the heroism and
patriotism of the American soldier, Sabouni said.

The story begins with Captain America on a videotape asking his fellow
Avengers to protect a soldier serving overseas and her brother, a
National Guard member stationed in the U.S. from a terrorist organization.

Ok. I'll do some myself. I just found out I have at least 3 days of doing

So I'm in the bed to keep it up.

I'll take a look after my doctor's visit tomorrow.

Sarcasm received. Well it's good that she is human. Personally, I
would have liked her as a Vulcan (not Spock's mom). But I still say
you are erroneous in assuming the ire we display toward Abrams has only
to do with Ryder and not the casting as a whole, disappointment with
MI3. Some people also still resent how he strung viewers along with
Lost with no resolution near the end of the first season. We even
discussed how he might be making some of his decisions so that he can
put his stamp on the franchise, the way that Moore did on Battlestar. I
think for some, the idea of making Spokes Mom, a Vulcan was the last
straw in a long line of decisions that they as viewers could not relate
to. If you read the entire exchange, those points were raised in what
you have labeled "sky is falling" thread

2007-11-11 Thread Tracey de Morsella (formerly Tracey L. Minor)
Don't wait for mine. I wasn't clear. I have not had time to research.
I'm behind schedule with some stuff for work, and i have low energy, so
I'm likely to find further behind. So don't wait for me, because I'm
not sure when I'm going to get caught up to a manageable level. It
could be a few weeks or more before I revisit this.

That is a minor bit of good news.

But, as Daryle said in his posting today, it does not make everything better.

And I still can't find the email from yesterday.

I haven¹t seen anything saying there was an error either. But I¹ll tell you
what. Even if this one detail turned out to be incorrect, it still doesn¹t
change the rest of the casting decisions and the stories that have NOT been
denied. It also doesn¹t change anything that we¹ve said about Abrams past
projects, or Paramount¹s recent history of completely disregarding TOS
canon. This project has had problems from day one, and it will take BOTH
the greatest picture of Abrams¹ career and the greatest Paramount movie

And why get an actress basically the same age as the guy planning her son?

I was getting ready to order a radiation safe head set and I found a
Radiation Frequency Safe Pocket Shield and a Radiation Frequency Safe
Belt Clip Shield

I'm sure there are other brands, but these are the ones I found:
Radiation Frequency Safe Pocket Shield
http://www.rfsafe. com/product-2.html
