On the small screen, yeah. But I'm hoping for a renaissance in 2D animation for the big screen. RE: [scifinoir2] Shyamalan Blasts Disney Execs in New Book
Yeah, Jobs and Pixar ceeded all rights to their Pixar properties to Disney. Disney owns the rights to such hits as the Toy Story franchises, Finding Nemo, etc. This gives them rights to both grab dough based on merchandising, and create sequels. When Jobs was unhappy with the deal, Eisner decided to play hardball. He created a whole new animation studio, hiring dozens of animators. There were even fully created scripts for a Toy Story 3, and first drafts of sequels for Nemo and The Incredibles. But once Eisner--who seems to be one of the most disliked execs in recent history--left, the two companies were able to come to terms. Disney managed to retain about eighty percent of the animators they hired for the defunct new studio. There are some bad feelings from the nascent Disney team at having its scripts and such being run by Pixar, but in the main all the animators are cool and understand it was a power struggle at the top. I think Disney's so bummed and worried at having lost their pre-eminent domination they were more than willing to let Pixar's winning ways take over. I just wish that so-called traditional 2D animation were still popular. _ From: scifinoir2@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tracey de Morsella (formerly Tracey L. "Cars" is apparently the last project under the old Disney Pixar shingle. It's done pretty well! My son has become a HUGE Pixar fan and it would really be bad if the movies turned all Dreamworks-y.
