Just an observation I went to the radiohead concert on Friday in Barrie and I saw a Sunny Day T shirt a black one with there faces on the front. By the way if you ever get the chance to see radioheadn they are amazing in concert.

I recently bought a copy of the Starflyer 59 "gold" album and it had a tooth and nail catalog in it and in the catalog it had pictures of people wearing clothing for tooth and nail records and it had their names below the picture desribing what they were wearing. Anyway, one of the guys i thought looks a lot like Jeremy Enigk and below his picture it says "Jeremy wears T&N shirt..." hey, i haven't written in about a year and, truth be told, i hardly ever read this stuff anymore, but i can't seem to be able to get myself taken off this list. anyway, i just thought i'd throw this in. regarding someone's post that "the band never bitches when people request seven or any other song," i just found it highly amusing that, at the austin show, some tool yelled out, "seven!" and jeremy yelled back, "hey, shut up." it was great. he was all, "sorry, i've always wanted to do that." i had this conversation w/ will about 2 years ago, and no, they don't like it when people yell requests. to quote him, "come on, we're not a fucking jukebox." that's all.

Upon watching the new sunny day video, my love for them was renewed and hightened. How beautifull they are. My heart bleeds at every verse. Jeremy looks so good and healthy. The new bass player, Joe, is awsome and fits in perfectly. I love the new additions to Every Shining Time, Rodeo Jones, and The Prophet. This video was shot just two days after I saw them here in Portland and also at the end of thier lengthy tour, and still they show no sighns of wear and tear. They where probably rejuvinated by thier warm and cozey Seattle homes and got to eat great meals and kiss their girlfriends. These guys make me so fucking happy to be alive. I love it. I heard someone say that jeremy doesn't scream any more a while back on this list. I dont understand where that persons head is. He screams more fervently now thanhe ever did. This guy must not have How It Feels. I saw them right after they released Diary and I dont think that much has changed in respects to his screaming! ! ! abilities. If anything he has learned to use this tool a little better. Jeremy has come a long way vocally and doesn't deserve to be ridiculed by his fans. For me, How it feels is as important as food. It's epic, and it feeds my soul with truth and love every time I listen to it. This may sound kind of wierd but I believe it to fit in with the book, The Hobit. Just as Pink Floyds Dark Side fits with The Wizard Of Oz. A lot of the words Jeremy uses and stories he tells on the record are very similar. Maybe i'm just a freak, but I seriously think that there is some kind of connection. I would like to know what jeremy has to say about it. If you havent read the book, give it a try. I love Dans blissfull smile. It seems to spread around to everyone in the audience. It's like he knows something that we don't. They don't give a shit what peple think. They got back together to what ever they wanted, and thats precicely what they're doing. Instead of being so concerned with technicality, they are feeling their music more. I read somewhere that they had reverted from being emo. Well the word emo came from emotional. Thus, they are the epitemy of emo. STOP GIVING THEM SO MUCH SHIT. alright i have to speak my mind about this whole deal with "emo becoming the next in thing" as we all know, emo has done alot for some people. especially sunny day real estate. Emo means too much to the kids that are really involved in it to become the next "in thing" emo , like hard core, gives them a sense of confinment. We all take it seriously and with this talk about having it become the "in thing" it would all be ruined if it is let to become the next mtv craze. when i started to read that i dunno ironicly i was listening to sunny day and my heart dropped. i just felt in a way i had lost something. it was this feeling of sadness that you dont get from many things. its not describablejust like the feeling that emo music gives you. i want nothing more then to be able to share those same feelings with all that want to have them...but having emo become another in thing isnt the way to do it. it will get taken for grantedmissusedand make me rather upset. alright i'm sure that all sounded dumb but thats how i really feel about all this. love. crystal

Dear SDRE fans, I had just moved up to New York in September of 1998 and being from the country and on my own for the first time, I was more than a little scared. I was scared sh#*less! Most of the time I would just sit in my room, afraid to go out,to do anything, to basically live a normal existance. I would paint and go to school and that's it. One day, I happened to need more paint supplies and upon going to the store saw the banner at Irving Plaza read--SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE. Forgetting any regard to my cityphobia, I rushed home to dial the phone, only to hear the worst two words a concert-goer could hear--SOLD OUT. After a few obscenities, I collected myself and began to plan. I would get into that concert! Being a student, I didn't have a lot of money to spend on anything but food. That week I didn't eat a whole lot, but I did save enough of my food money for a ticket. A ticket I didn't even have. At first, I thought I would just get a scalped ticket, but to me, that feels like adultry against the band. My mind was just racing. How unfair it is that someone that probably is just going for the heck of it can get in, and I can't! Dementia soon set in, and I told myself that I would sit in the bathroom if I had to just to hear the newly reformed SDRE. The night of the show came. When it comes to Sunny Day, I just lose it. I get wacky, I become "that guy" at concerts. All decked out in my T-shirt, with poster and pen in hand I stood outside fevering for the ticket. I hung close to the box office watching all these people buy scalped tickets, knowing that they won't get in. One by one the scalpers all go away and I'm alone without a ticket in a sea of happy ticketholders. I could have just ripped that piece of paper out of someone's hand and took off, but as I reached my most desperate moment, A guy announced the box office was open for tickets. I was like one of twenty to get a ticket!WOW!I got a ticket! I go in and look for a place to sit, only to realize, there are none. Being a wee little man, I climbed on this thing on the side wall and waited. I felt like Zaccehus in the tree just waiting to see the saviour walk down the road. Opening band came out and played. I was going crazy in anticipation. Just when I thought I couldn't take it any longer the familiar, distinct ring of "In Circles" began and that was it. All the trials had been worth it. I saw my heroes and knew they were real. I stayed after the show and talked with the lady selling merchandise who turned out to be Mrs.Hoerner! Then I saw WIlliam Goldsmith and froze. I had just enough voice to say ...you..could..sign..please as I held up my poster. He did. I went out and noticed the beauty New York holds for the first time(even at 3AM!)and have not been frightened since. A month later, I saw them again at the Sub-pop showcase and again was in awe of their presence and got my picture taken with Dan. I feel real wierd sending this out into this forum because I not really Internet guy and I hope I didn't break any length laws( I'm sure a lot of people are annoyed with me)I just joined this group yesterday and already I've recieved some pretty interesting mail. Thanks. As with computers and such, I'm not sure what I getting myself into,but I glad to know that a community like this exists. A place in the universe in celebration of one of the most important things in my life, Sunny Day Real Estate. I sorry if this has sounded sappy, but SDRE has helped me survive some of my most difficult times and I am ever indebted to them. We tested it for quality. Got the right tapes. Got the sales guy who's an "expert" at recording live shows to give it the ok. Im so fucking excited. All of this talk about Nate (and the band with their whole label signing deal) selling out and making money seems to involve something that is none of our business: Nate's personal life. We have no idea what sort of a financial situation he is in and what he could need or want, and this is because it is not something for us to judge. Unfavorable sellout behavior is usually characterized by an individual who already obviously has loads of money, (not to stereotype, but say a professional athlete who accepts offers in the millions)and is going to whatever team gives him/her the most money, rather than playing the sport simply for the love of the game. Needless to say, I don't believe Nate is getting offers for millions of dollars from the foo fighters, and clearly he expressed regret in not being able to join up with SDRE again. Ultimately, however, IT IS NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. Like I said, we don't know what kind of money he might need (I don't want to see him working at Texaco either), and furthermore it's his right to pursue his art however he pleases. What he does as a musician is really up to him, and we should respect that in this situation. If he starts behaving like Grohl (I think you know what I mean-I don't feel like getting off on that tangent right now) then I would see reason to question his principles as an artist. I agree with that... sometimes if bands become successful their attitudes change and they become assholes... I believe Pumpkins would fall under that category... but I think "selling out" has a lot to do with the indie mentality... I know a lot of times bands sign to a major label and all their old fans ignore them, saying "oh, they were so much better when they didn't have a record deal." I think that's a wrong mentality. Okay everyone, this is in regards to the whole sunny day signing controversy: As you all know Dan has a farm. Dan is going to lose his farm if he doesn't come up with the finances to provide for it. Sunny Day isn't a bunch of rich guys. They're actully kind of poor. I don't know about you but I kind of would rather them be happy and still together than nonexistent once again. this is the seond time i am posting this and i got a huge response last time but i couldnt offer this video because i had a problem with my vcrs. anyway- i have the 120 minutes with sdre on it. it is straight from the mtv archives so there is footage on it that wasnt included on the actual airing of it. they perform in circles twice, seven and rodeo jones. there is an interview with will and nate and then afterwards, as an added bonus r the seven and in circles videos. i am willing to trade or sell.
