Re: [sdre-l]: lyrics interpreted, randomly

Using star's, wave's, angel's, any thing as imagry in song lyric's is cool if you
can pull it off with some sort of sincerity. I think Jeremy is able to do that.
I think he is a great lyricist and a poet.

I find his song lyrics very very poetic.
Writing song lyric's isnt the easiest thing to do either.

But I can be kinda biased and supportive of the thing's he write's about because
I enjoy reading and writing poetry myself, and I also relate to Jeremy's lyrics
more than I do an artist who only writes about feeling sorry for themselves and
writing about how bleak and depressing the world is in their eyes.

This has been my 2 cents.

well, it's bound to be easier than the older songs. I
saw something a while ago about jeremy singing in
phonics in the studio in the "olden" days ('the days
were olden'...hehehehe)and seeing which words fit
later. I don't know how true that is, but it does
seem as if the syntax has gotten clearer in recent
years (don't take that as an attack of DiaryDiary
is the Holy Grail IMHO).

I'm kind of skeptical that anything that profound can be read in to it. For
the most part, the lyrics to The Ocean are just recycled old ones, mixed and
matched from various songs. There are some all-new lines, like the one about
being a shining star (am I the one that finds that line incredibly cheesy?).

Anyway, that's kind of how I felt about the whole song. It just didn't seem
like anything new or different to me. Nothing about it surprised me. It'd be
nice if this song was just a b-side, but I guess it isn't. Just my opinion,
and sorry to all the apologists out there.
