Re: SD Re: fuel pump pressure
It should be 55 +- manifold pressure. So if you were at idle with the vacuum line still connected to it, 40 would be about right assuming normal idle vacuum. Usually you pull the line to test the regulator. If you are a little off at idle. I would assume it would be the regulator, not the pump. If you only have 5-10PSI at idle, then the pump - Original Message - From: jody tollefson [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, October 13, 2004 4:48 AM Subject: SD Re: fuel pump pressure my 86 sc has a stock t1 and it only puts out a constant 40 psi. if I'm not mistaken i think thats factory.you are probably worrying over nothing. i hope this helps Jody Tollefson ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? SD my Daytona LIVES!
well last night I replaced the starter in my 86 Daytona T-Top Turbo Z, got it on the ground and she fired right up. It was a great feeling to finally have my car back running. I origanaly thought the turbo was toasted, but after running it up and down the road a little it seems to build boost just fine. What I'm looking for now is a vacuum diagram for this car. I tried searching the archives on the website, but they're still down, and I figured maybe someone had a link to a website, or might have them scanned on their computer. any help? and a big thanks to everyone thats been helping me over the years! RE: SD Re: fuel pump pressure
Actually stock spec is 55psi +/- intake pressure. So at idle (15 inches or so) with the vacuum line connected it would be about 45-46 psi of fuel rail pressure. At 11psi the fuel pressure is 66psi to counteract the boost pressure in the intake pushing against the injector. SD oilpump
It will fit but there is no need for it. The stock pump will work fine. Just make sure the oil restrictor is installed in the oil feed passage to the top end. Richard Paul Does anybody know if the MP high volume oil pump will work in an 89 Common block? I thought I read somewhere that it doesn't work in the commonblock engine. Cna anybody confirm this? Or has anybody tried this yet? Sean B ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? Visit http://www.sdml.org/ To be removed, visit http://www.sdml.org/pages/leave.html
RE SD Pacificas
the production total breakouts for dodge daytona for 1987 were as follows base model 18,485 pacifica turbo 7,467 shelby Z turbo 7,152 keep in mind these cars are fast approaching 20 years old. since there is no way to figure out exactly how many are still on the road or in owners hands even if just parked in back yards wasting away. a typical attrition rate is usually half of the production figure in the first 10 years or 50% due to wreck totals, salvage, stolen vehicles, acts of god, etc. so at the end of your pacificas first 10 years there would be approximately 3,734 of this model remaining. from there the figure stays at 50% of the remaining figure for the next 5 to 10 years since the pacifica is a low volume high line model car and not a strippo base model some people tend to hold onto them a little longer, mebbe even feel they are somewhat valuable, they are probably taken better care of by their owners. so about now there are probably approximately 1,867 of this model remaining. tho the 50% should actually now be 70% or only 1,120 left since more and more i see good restorable project pacificas bought cheap, and butchered for their parts on EBAY to make a quick buck. of course this is in no way accurate but i am willing to bet pretty close to within 100 or 200 cars. no its not a numbered car. but then again none of my turbo mopars are numbered cars. i happen to like the looks of the 87 and 88 daytona pacifica and shelby z. i also own an 87 t top pacifica 5 speed car, and a t top 88 shelby z 5 speed car, and a 87 lebaron turbo coupe with automatic, soon to be a 5 speed car. the lebaron is my fun car as well as a work beater. the shelby z is getting a full restoration, and the pacifica is sitting in protected covered storage in the corner of my shop waiting its turn. all i can say is i see more and more of the daytona pacifica and shelby z bodies getting stripped out to make a fast buck on ebay. this is why i purchased one with all the toys, and mothballed it for later on speculation that its value will go up as less and less of them are around due to attrition including ebay. ultimately though rebuild and drive it because you love the car not because of its rarity. i buy and fix up what i like to own and drive in the TD/SD world not because its a numbered or non numbered car but ultimately because its the body style i like. hope this helps you with your decision. mat . ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? Re: SD Melted piston options?
take out the bad piston and take it to the machine shop. They weigh it and get the part number and replace it. Buy a ring set and replace it. Hypereutectic pistons are clearanced different than cast Mahles or forged pistons. So you can't just buy different pistons. If the car has little mileage on it you can replace one without honing. I melted 2 pistons in the same engine and replced them and kept going with no problems. A guy I know here took 3 pintons and rings and rods from a junk motor in my yard and one at a time stuck them in his engine, all stock size. He melted a piston, then came over and got a whole rod and piston combo and installed it in his engine with his engines bearings. Sand papered the cylinders and was off. Each time regained compression. I live up north by Idaho, you can't believe what people do to keep an engine running. Rob Date: Tue, 12 Oct 2004 21:55:06 -0500 From: Ryan Lada [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: SD Melted piston options? I'm pretty sure I have melted a piston in my caravan. The engine was a remanufactured unit with hypereutectic pistons. I want to just get a set of factory style pistons and reassemble the engine but I want to know what I have to replace. My plan is to have the rods resized and fitted for new pins with the new pistons, install new bearings, get new rings, and reassemble. I assume I need to hone the cylinders. Can I do this with the block in the car? How have you guys done this in the past? Thanks! Ryan Lada BTW: does anyone have any good used forged pistons for a 2.5 for sale? ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions?
