SD Turbo Swap
Trying to swap my bad turbo in the 88 Shelby Z. I have heard of this being done without pulling the head, or dropping the engine. Unhook the mount and rotate it...Anyone have more info on this? I have been fighting it. IT sucks. Tomorrow I think Im gonns pull the axles and dump the coolant and just drop the engine. Seems like that will be faster than trying to reach this crap. after 3 hours, I have gotten ONE of the nutts off. SD FS: 1986 GLHS
Very nice condition. Car has been a southern car all it life. No rust whatsoever. Car had new paint in 99 and I am replacing the decals this week. so the exterior is an excellent shape except has one door ding on rear pass. door. Has new tires, rims look great all shelby stuff intact. car #210 Has excellent SC seats installed, but i have original seats that will go with the car. Has shelby factory rollcage installed, also has shelby LSD installed by first owner. Has aftermarket stereo, otherwise rest of interior is stock and good shape. Could use a new headliner though. Motor is stock except has an MP computer. has upgrade mandrel bent exhaust. Car runs great, looks great. recently replaced pass front door handle, powersteering, and turbo oil feed line, and added a new battery. asking $6900 OBO or would be willing to take partial trades plus cash. prefer another 86 glhs that needs work plus cash, but open to all offers, I might even trade for a motorcycle since I have a nephew that had his bike stolen a couple of months ago, and I had to lend him my R/T. SD looking for susp. options
Doesn't Cindy at FWD Performance sell road race/autocross springs for the L Body? Maybe those are what you are looking for. Coilovers do not change camber so no need to worry about that. Besides, without camber plates, you can get up to 2 degrees neg camber which is too much anyway. If you need that much, you need to stiffen your chassis with a roll bar or cage and a strut brace and k-frame brace. SD Trans - Did I blow it up already?
Well I just finished putting an A413 in my 87 SC (T2 Intercooled, approx 250-275HP). I did some test runs and the trans did not want to shift into first I had to manually put it in there sometimes, but then it was fine. I was beating on it good, and then stopped to back up, but it woudl not go into reserve. Now, park seems ok,except when you first put it in there the car will lunge when given gas (just once, then normal). Reverse and neutral seem to act just like park, the car just revs when given gas in either (plus when you are rolling and put it in neutral it stops as if park was engaged). S, IS it blwon up? I checked the fluid (brand new with new filter) and it still looked good, not burnt. It is a little overfull on fluid, I did notice that, but it looked like new still. Thanks - Yahoo! The governor and/or valve body is plugged up with clutch material. Drop the pan, pull the governor and the valve body and clean them, change the fluid, and the filter. It would be nice if there was a way to make the pan deeper and baffle it to keep the clutch material away from the governor and valve body. However, the only way to solve this seems to be going to a manual valve body as the stock valve body allow the clutches to slip too much, creating this excess clutch material. SD what are these parts for?
I cleaned out the trunk of my 87 shadow and found 2 hoses in sealed mopar plastic bags. they also came with a pretty greasy dealership note that is missing, as luck would have it, the part descriptions, but the date is 1998 so they aren't too old... the part numbers and name on the bags are: 04343916 Hose 04504024 Connector the Connector looks like a 4-to-1 hard plastic vaccum line or something, the Hose is bigger, soft rubber and looks. odd to say the least. SD cubic inches and starter
My block is bored out .30 over from a 2.2. Anyone know the new displacement of the motor. Also, dropping the motor in soon. Tranny is already in. Should the starter go in before or after the block.
