SD RE: 89 CSX RACK

2005-09-12 Thread Anders Steven C MSgt 115FW/LGMFC
I will chime in here. The rack in your car is the same as a quick ratio
turbo shadow rack or a Daytona Shelby rack. I do not know if the tie rod
ends are the same on the Daytona as the CSX but I do know the basic quick
ratio rack is the same among the model lines.

Even though the service manual lists different pressure ratings among the
pumps, all will work for whatever application as long it is the same pump
type. (i.e. Saginaw).

Hope this helps,

Steve A.

RE: SD Re:Need CSX-VNT Info

2005-09-12 Thread Mullikin.Stefan
Dude, relax. You ask for free advice then complain when you don't get
it? Nice.

Never mind that if you had done some research on your own, you'd see
that they might be different

Externally, the racks are the same. Only the L-bodies are different.

The CSX-VNT had the fast ratio firm feel rack. So, its 2.5 turns lock
to lock. If the car came with the 225/50's then it got the 87 Shelby Z
steering rack and its only 2.25 turns lock to lock (different stops to
keep the tires from fowling, same ratio though)

The 91 may have the slower ratio rack. A quick check with a pair of
vice grips or by turning the wheel will tell you whether its 3 or 2.5
turns lock to lock.

If you're gonna get this pissy about not getting your free advice, then
perhaps you should sell the car and buy a Honda. Plenty of free advice
there (about chrome this, platinum that, carbon fiber yada yada yada)

Is the power steering rack any different than the other 91 shadows with
PS?
What about the PS pump? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

guess.

The racks on the standard tire cars are the same as a Shadow ES. The
racks on wide tire cars came out of the Shelby Z Daytona as the 225
tires required the addition of the bump stops to keep tires from rubbing.

SD Circle Track racing?

2005-09-12 Thread Colwell82
Well, since my family is BIG into short track racing, and this summer I was
introduced to Pony Stocks I've been thinking long and hard about turning my
parts shadow into a contender. Anyone have an advice on it? I know I won't be
able to use the turbo motor but a NA 2.2 and I have most of the parts laying
around collecting dirt anyway. On the same note does anyone need any maroon 87
shadow interior? I'm looking at getting rid of it pretty cheap, and it's all in
decent shape, but I'd rather not ship the big stuff, but I may deliver it.
Just email me with needs!

Matt-
I have looked into this. Helped a friend run 'Mini-Stock' with 2.3L
Mustangs. I would be most tempted to run a 2 door L-Body. Going
straight to a N/A shelby charger would start you off with better brakes
and 5 lug wheels. Anyway, the weight distribution, total weight, rigidity,
and simplicity would make that my first choice. Most 4 cylinder classes
have no weight restrictions, so another plus for the 2 door l-body, IMO.
The P-body is a great platform, but where every pound is important,
start off light.

I just wanted to apologize for posting such a hasty message. It was not
intended to be that way and I certainly failed the first time to illustrate
the
urgency of the info I needed. I lost sight of the fact that we're all
driving similar vehicles and most if not everyone on here knows what it's like
to
have one down. I'm just trying to keep a numbered car on the road. I
apologize to everyone who had to read my unsavory and uncalled for post. No
need to
reply I certainly feel bad enough already.

SD Re:Shelby Dakota parts for sale (new)

2005-09-12 Thread ~RoB~
A friend of mine read and copied the MP computer and the bin is being looked
at. Anyone need something changed? Looking to raise the rev limiter on it
but other than that it is just the MP cal. So that computer can be made. As
for the TB, it is just a 360 piece, and the 318 won't flow enough to use it.
Actually the 360 intake won't either but it is bigger than a 318 intake and
looks exactly the same. The best thing to do is run both and maybe a tiny
bit of match porting at the head, don't worry this 360 intake doesn't have
340 ports. I just sold a set of Shelby Dakota headers on Ebay, the worst way
to make money and I got $511 for my set and they are not coated FYI.
