Using the 1988 electronics, it did not have a charge temp sensor. The code (coolant sensor) kept coming back even though I replaced the coolant sensor with known good ones. After much headache, Gary Donovan told me that the code is stored and does not go away. He said it has to be cleared at the dealer or at home with a high tech scanner device. So I brought the car to Gary and he cleared it with one of his devices. It never came back after that. At the same time I found a loose wire to the SMEC that I fixed. SD> smoke question
My son bought a 1989 Daytona Shelby T-2. The car normally doesn't smoke. But at idle when the oil fill cap is removed it smokes white out the exhaust and from behind the engine. It smells like burnt oil. Shut it off and replace the oil cap, start it up again and the smoke goes away. Anyone seen this before? Any idea what is going on?
