Re: CSCoffee Filters (was Pulsed DC method)
Would it make sense to pre-condition the coffee filter by running some plain distilled water through it, which you would discard, then filtering the CS? You'd at least get the worst of the solubles out of it before it contacts the product. Mike D. Re: CSMeasuring ppm?
Sharon- The general consensus here on the list is that the TDS meter does not measure ppm. Do you feel differently about that? Yes I agree. I think its very difficult to correlate silver ions or very small particles with various charge levels to PPM. The whole discussion about TDS and PWT relates mainly to water purity before the process. The meters also work after the process and show change in conductivity but what the measurements mean I have no idea! BTW, for anyone looking for a great home distiller. Re: CSMore than one way to distill water?
Marshall and Sharon- Just found this web address, after my note to Sharon with the phone number. .. http://www.purewaterinc.com/ another nice thing about the Mini Classic. . . the boiling chamber is removable so its easy to fill, rinse, clean, etc. but since I use commercial distilled water as input water in mine, cleaning isn't much of an issue. I just rinse and go. They make some large models as well. one of them, the Mega Classic is a floor unit monster with a 10 gallon storage tank and a 1gal / 2 hours duty rating. CSGraphs of Concentrations(resp)
I have tried twice to send this as a reply to an earlier post. Doesn't seem to get posted. My apologies if it is getting through. I am not seeing it at my end. BillH Ivan, Thanks for the graph, looking forward to the next one. I ran 2 more batches this week-end, one for 1hr and the 2nd for 2 hrs. With out compensating for the difference in wetted electrode length(yours 1 3/4, mine 2 1/2) the CS resistance results of the 2 hour run was 15.13Kohms. This falls in line with your graph for 18ppm. From now on I will vary the electrode length for better correlation when the final measurements are read. The batches were made with the electrode 3/4 inch apart. My 8oz glass is 3 1/4 inches at the top and narrows at the bottom. The electrode are vary close to the sides of the glass at 1 3/4 inch spacing. This is the only reason I am looking at different electrode spacing. I like to keep the electrodes spaced evenly from the sides and each other, 3/4 inch looks good for this. Below are this week-ends runs. Although CS conductivity and ppm do not have a linear relationship I did do some linear calculations(shown at end of e-mail) using past information. RE: CSCoffee Filters (was Pulsed DC method)
Hi Mike, It is easy enough to find oxygen bleached filters. I suspect they are cleaner than unbleached. I have never filtered my sol, because Bruce Marx measured some before and after. There is a drop. If it is a charge effect, the fibers are probably getting the smaller particles by adhesion, and not by filtration. And some, believe smaller is better, at least in Ag sols... Re: CSDumb question
The only way I can find for carbon to enter into a reaction with silver is in conjunction with nitrogen, which is also present dissolved in water exposed to air. In that case you have the elements necessary to make silver cyanide ( AgCN ) and with oxygen silver cyanate ( AgCNO ). Silver cyanide is virtually insoluable in water (0.23 ppm), so if any is made it would be in the gunk. I have no experimental data to determine if this reaction can even happen in a typical setup, this is data from the CRC handbook. Common Cold Cure: We find that by administering a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide into each infected ear for 10 minutes or longer until the bubbling stinging subsides that the temperature starts dropping within just a few minutes and that all of the effects / symptoms are completely gone within 12 to 14 hours. We have had 100% results with using this method. Influenza(s) Virus Cure: You'll need to repeat the same process two or more times at two hour intervals until there is no more bubbling when you put drops in infected ear(s) We also have had 100% results when using this method in curing the flu. Re: CSround conductive pot idea
Hi All I have always used a stainless cathode nad a silver anode. The cathode has not got silver plated altough it does get black. When I started I was using silver for both and the cathode still got black. I noticed no difference in colour of the CS. James H-McMillan Ivan Anderson wrote: Sam, The silver ions are released from the positive electrode (anode) by reason of the potential difference applied (voltage) between the positive and negative (cathode) electrodes. It matters little what the metal the cathode is made of (there are effects that lie outside this discussion) as any silver ions that contact the cathode, be it silver or some other metal, are rendered to waste as far as colloidal silver is concerned. You are correct in the assumption that the cathode becomes plated with silver. The reason I use a silver cathode is that I can be sure that I cannot generate anything other than silver particles, even if the leads are reversed, and if the power fails whilst the electrodes are submerged there can be no dissolution of contaminating ions into the solution from the cathode. There may be other reasons to question the use of a conductive pot, to do with electrode polarisation etc. but it may turn out to be advantageous. I was under the impression that silver ions are freed into the water by virtue of the fact that the negative electrode (anode?) is not dissimiliar and thus does not bind with the positive silver ions as, say copper, would. Why wouldn't the iron and nickel in stainless steel do the same thing. Nickel, if I'm not mistaken, is often used as a base plating prior to applying silver or gold plate. Anyone? The difference is that if it were a silver compound, then the atoms would attach to the metal one by one, giving a smooth shiny finish. But since CS is made up of clumps of 100 to 5,000 atoms of silver, when they plate out, they end up as a very fine power on the surface, which is black.
