Re: CSNew here

2009-05-29 Thread Ode Coyote

Good distilled water is nothing BUT water..no ions..as is de-ionized water.
Two ways to do the same thing

You control the current to BE low and constant..so you CAN have 'a' setting.
It isn't like that without any control.
It'll run away. drawing ever more current with the addition of
conductive ions that makes the water draw ever more current.

Rain water is distilled waterusually in a dirty glass with no sides,
called air, for part of it's life span.

Dead water may just be water that has no Oxygen dissolved in it.
Add some electricity across some silver wire to make some Oxygen and
Hydrogen and you get Frankenwater brought back to life with a silver
bolt through it's neck.

 New old phrase:
Rich as a Transylvanian torch and pitch fork salesman at the *Mobs R'
Us* store.

must say, the water doesn't smell, nor does it taste funny, so at least I
can drink it now.
I've always thought distilled water, like the jugs you buy for the iron or
car, the water inside was dead... no minerals, nada. But I think I can
get used to drinking distilled water, if its really not unhealthy to.
I did read somewhere, that you should be able to control the current, but
I don't understand why. It contradicts what is written elsewhere, where
the current should always be low and constant. Why would i want to set any
other settings?
Thanks for all of your input. I've also read a site of yours, or I believe
its yours, where you comment on certain sites, where generators are offered.

The CM uses constant current and a voltage reference to tell itself when
it's done [as does the silverpuppy and the silvergen]
The silvergen sg6 is DC output only, the CM has an alternating
electrode polarity feature that uses an electromechanical relay, no DC
output, the silverpup has a choice of DC or alternating polarity
[optional on the pocketpuppy ] and is entirely solid state.
The PPM dial is a potentiometer that changes the reference voltage for the
PPM setting.
The SG6 and silverpup will turn themselves off when the conductivity of
the water is at the desired place..the CM 'might' just display a light to
tell you when it's done [dunno if it turns itself off or not ]
The dials are not calibrated for any specific PPM but will do the same
thing each batch IF the electrodes are in exactly the same placement.

You'll need a meter to tell what that is.
Using repeatable electrode position to do that job IS calibrated, but the
choices aren't infinitely variable..but at least you know what the choices are.
There's no way to exceed the max PPM setting other than to reposition the
electrodes further apart on the CM or the sg6
The silverpup lets you go as high as you dare with an auto/ manual switch
for making CS Gel etc, or use bad water if you have to. [optional on the
pocketpuppy ]
Polarity change does in fact do some stirring, directly between the
electrodes...sufficient for a quart batch, but better if the jar is about
the same length as the electrodes.
Exposure to water vapors is a stir motors nemesis due to eventual
corrosion...and potentiometers and relays eventually get iffy like any
part that moves.
Puppy stirrers are never exposed to water vapor and one has no moving
parts at all... TO corrode and freeze up.

CSSteam distillers

2009-05-29 Thread Golden Aldi
I've just ordered a steam distiller, 220V to start making my own water. I've
read that even after distillation, there are still traces of Nitrat
0,10mg/ltr, Chlor ,05mg/ltr, Phosphat 0,02mg/ltr, Natrium 0,07mg/ltr and
Atrazin (have no idea what that is) 0,02mg/ltr. I believe they used tap
water for distilling, so if I used filtered water, that should get most of
the elements out before distilling, thus giving me a more purer water.
Am I correct in my assumptions?

CSA puzzle.............

2009-05-29 Thread MaryAnn Helland
An odd thing happened to me this week.  Tuesday night when I went to bed, I
felt a sharp pain in my left arm -- high on the inside about midway between the
shoulder and elbow.  I ordinarily rest my head on the inside of my arm to
sleep, and this was painful enough to disallow that.  On Wednesday morning, I
had a bruise along the artery there, running down to and including the inside
of the elbow -- and the top of my forearm was painful to the touch.  I
*lased* (low-level-light laser) the place on my arm where the original pain was
(which was still painful to the touch).  By Thursday, the pain was pretty much
gone, but the bruise had spread to generous proportions -- almost all of the
inside of my upper arm.  Today the pain is still gone and the bruise is
beginning to lighten.  But here's the puzzle -- the whole thing was pretty much
spontaneous.  I don't remember doing anything that could cause an injury --
much less something as painful as
that, or to cause that kind of bruising.  I sensed that it was the artery
itself that was hurting.  Is that possible?  Can arteries (or veins) *hurt*?
Anybody have any idea what the heck that was all about?  I'm not one to run to
the doctor quickly -- I'm inclined to wait a day or two and see what develops.
But I don't want to be stupid either.  Of course, if it happened again, I'd go
see my doctor immediately.  But I was hoping that someone might have some
insight.  TIIA.

brewed two days. There was a long stream going down one of the wires. Is it

Brewed about 48 hrs. My son has my ppm tester and has moved and doesn't know

Re: CSCS brewed to long

2009-05-29 Thread Norton, Steve
Usually a yellow CS is not due to a chemical contamination but to agglomeration
of the silver. This can be caused by a high ppm, brewing at too high a current
or handling during shipping. It is ok to use but because of agglomeration there
are larger silver particles that will pass through without absorption. If you
add a tsp of hydrogen peroxide to the CS and wait a day you should see the
yellow go away as the HP causes the large silver particles to become small
particles again.

Re: CSSteam distillers

2009-05-29 Thread Malcolm
Hi Aldi,

Atrazine is a chlor -azine herbicide; Not good for people and other
living things!

One of the problems with steam distillation is that some substances can
be carried over in the steam, even oils and other organics. Some of
these compounds have a vapor pressure that is similar to water's. In
fact one way of purifying various compounds is to put them into a steam
distiller and collect them in the distillate, after which the pure
compound is separated from the distilled water i.e. by evaporation at
low pressure/temperature.

One solution (Eeww! Pun!) to this is to use reverse osmosis, in which a
permeable-to-water-molecules membrane is used - many years ago this was
done in high school chem classes with the old standby cellophane;
Nowadays special membranes are made for the purpose. Note that these
are Not the same as filters in the usual sense; A reverse osmosis
filter system requires some additional pressure on the feed side as well
as extra flow to act as a rinse medium, and also several pre-filters
down to 1 micron so the R.O. membrane isn't plugged up by coarser
debris.

If water purified by reverse osmosis is then put through a de-ionisation
cartridge to remove the few remaining ions small enough to make it
through the R.O. membrane, that's about as good as you can get and is
the process used in most labs and medical facilities to make their own
pure water.

My cs I brew at home is fairly clear if I use the brand Crystal Distilled
Water. If I use another brand it seems to be more yellow. Either way we use
it.

I do that from time to time, what I do is let it sit overnight and see

Usually a yellow CS is not due to a chemical contamination but to agglomeration
of the silver. This can be caused by a high ppm, brewing at too high a current
or handling during shipping. It is ok to use but because of agglomeration there
are larger silver particles that will pass through without absorption. If you
add a tsp of hydrogen peroxide to the CS and wait a day you should see the
yellow go away as the HP causes the large silver particles to become small
particles again.

When we start making it, we will give it to sick ppl who will try it. So many
Lyme cases here. I know 3 friends already who have it. AND we had a neighbor
who had it. She got palsy and half her face was paralyzed. (yrs ago before I
knew anything about it) Not long after that she died of a heart attack. It's
the silent epidemic here. My sis isn't convinced (she's so sick with fibro
she's bed ridden, but she's a nurse and doesn't try holistic much...I'm pretty
sure it's Lyme) I'm working on her about trying it. Thanks and have a great

A ppm tester is at best a rough guide, and anyway is useless for
measuring ppm in CS over about 20mm. So it would be no use in this
case. You could have 200 ppm but the meter probably would still only
say about 5 to 20 ppm.

CSSteam distillers.

2009-05-29 Thread Alchemysa
If you are distilling water for CS NEVER use the little charcoal post-
filter satchet that comes with these distillers. They put impurities
back into the water. (Its the white thing thats sitting on the clear
plastic receiver jug.)

Also try and distill good rainwater instead of tap water.
And dont boil the distiller dry if you can help it.
