If you think your drinking water needs to be sterilized, fine
Otherwise

Why on earth would you want to?

I don't think that exposing your CS to contaminants all-day is going to
help the CS any.

I have never found a shelf life for home made CS and I've kept samples
for over 8 years...if kept well sealed away from the air which can
eventually oxidize ions or make light sensitive silver carbonates from
the CO2 in the air.
If particles are colloidal in size they will never fall out of suspension,
but they can cluster some, being held apart by weak Van der Waals forces.
Excessive Brownian motion [heat] could possibly case a few collisions over
time.

Ions are not in suspension TO fall out, they are in solution and cannot
fall out and still remain ions.

Ions are held apart by strong electron shell charges and can't cluster.

Electromagnetic radiation can add electrons to ions at the surface of the
container and cause some plate out.

If you make strong CS cold, the solubility limit of the water drops and
some ions are forced to become particles which can then drop out.

Only Mild Silver Protein [MSP] contains stabilizers..not the same thing.

CS made with pure water and pure silver, sealed up well and away from
brush type motors and radio transmitters, kept at room
temperatures...seems to last forever.
Even when not, seems to last a long time. Several months at least but no
limit to, at most.

Even if a bit degraded, it's still good, just not 'as good'
Worst thing to do is freeze it.

As for storing CS, unfortunately it does not have a long shelf life.
The silver particles and ions fall out of suspension after a period of
time. I think they lose their electrical charge and clump together, most
commercially available CS contain stabilizers.

Yes, technically an ion is a particle as it takes up space and has
mass, but it's a technicality often used to confuse more than inform, so
you get people asking things like if this process makes smaller ions.
In common usage *CS* is a blanket term that allows all sorts of things to
fit so long as any part of it fits the definition, even if it's the
smallest part.
[There IS no smaller part than an ion of silver and if it gets smaller it
isn't silver]

Hence the coinage of the term EIS [Electrically Isolated Silver] but not
yet in common usage.

Imagine that you were shopping for an out building and wound up paying for
a sky scraper with dog house sized doors.

End of quote.

My experience ; one of my first batches [many years ago]was put in
glass, lidded, and placed up on a shelf in my work-shop and it still has
not changed, still in full solution,no plating,no settling out, with
Tyndall effect.

Ok Mike this shows just how little I know or understand about the Web
- this was on a google page not any archives - however it really does
not matter because it is proving very hard to find the soap, I have
had to go directly to Waitrose which is where my friend bought it for
me, and even they do not show it as being one of the products they
carry - so maybe it is best forgotten.

CSRe: silver-digest Digest V2011 #54

2011-02-13 Thread Melly Bag
Hi Everyone,

Can we make soap out of the CS/EIS?  Instead of using ordinary water to
dissolve the sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide?
Will the CS property still stay, what about  if it got mixed with olive oil and
coconut oil?  This would be a nice soap to make.
