CS>Miniature Metal Detector

1999-10-24 Thread THE TROLL
Hi Ho Silverees!

While I was mulling over the structured water detector ideas,
I came across the thought about a miniature metal detector
that would have a container into which a specific amount of CS
would be poured and we get a reading that varies with the
amount of silver in the CS. The readings could (hopefully)
correlate with PPM better than conductivity.

It is conceivable that a few 555s and some other handy parts
could be the core of this little jewel.

Definitely gotta water the potted plant on that one.

Later.

CS>Re:CMOS 555

1999-10-24 Thread THE TROLL
Hi Folks.

I think we need to make it clear that CMOS parts are
*VERY* sensitive to static electricity. Just the static
electricity that we generate walking around can kill these
parts.

They need to be handled, wired, soldered, plugged in,etc.
while we are electrically connected to "ground".

I think even Radio Shack has wrist grounding straps. These
you put the strap on your wrist and the other end of the
cord you clip to some metal object that is "grounded"

CS>Re:Vessel Geometery

1999-10-21 Thread THE TROLL
Hi Everybody!

I am really curious if anyone has experimented with different
shapes of production vessels.

Tall and skinny? Short an large diameter?

It occurred to me that instead of the electrodes being vertical,
what might be the advantage of them being horizontal?

Just for example, if we used a glass pie pan and filled it to
an inch high and the electrodes were "L" shaped with the
connections to the foot of the L, and the long part of the L submersed.

Do we have any thoughts?

Hi!

Below are copies of posts I sent to the list regarding
structured water and a simple method. (first copy)

David

___

Hi Folks!

Just a quickie.

You only need one bottle and its cap with a hole in it
for the "vortex" part. Instead of a matching bottle for "storage", find
a bottle that has an opening just a bit
bigger than the neck and cap of the vortex bottle.

The vortex bottle neck will just fit inside the storage
bottle neck and all will work just as well.

If you don't have the tools to make a hole (3/8" or so),
you can take the cap from a spring water "sports bottle".
It already has a hole (~ 1/2") in it , so if you pull the
"knob" up to "drinking" position and saw across just below the knob, you
are almost there.

There will still be some of the "tube" left, but now you can see how
much more you have to saw/file/chew off to
get to where it is almost flat. These caps seem to vary in style and
shapes, so that is why I am not being very specific.
The main thing is to saw or file it to the point where going any farther
will start to open the hole wider.

So, that's it. A bottle and cap w/hole, a bottle into which
the other bottle neck will fit, and some magnets.

Can it get any simpler??

Time to cut Z.

Good luck,

David
__

Greetings!

Just a follow-up to provide an example.
I have a 2 liter bottle with a cap that has a 3/8" hole
in it. I have attached the magnets on the "shoulder" by
the neck.

I almost fill it with water (7/8 or so, need some space
to get the water swirling around) and with finger over
the hole, star swirling the water in what will be a clockwise direction
when up side down and just as I am removing finger from the hole, I am
inserting the neck into a gallon milk jug.
The neck just fits in and the jug will support the vortex bottle.
Actually, the jug opening is just a bit too small to let in
enough air.

It works!

Later...

Hi Folks!

I apologize for the delay in responding to the requests for the article
on structured water, but one of the oil drilling rigs in the back yard
broke into the plutonium mine under the house and my severe attention
was required.

WELL, on a more serious VEIN, I discovered the web site where I got the
article, so you can see it live for yourself:

http://www.tznet.com/busn/unusual/structure.htm

I recommend reading this article first because it is much more
comprehensive than the rest and explains in the first part what
structured
water is and how it is used in our bodies and why we might desire to
have
some. The middle half or so is great for the "techies" (to whom the term
Zeta
potential probably means something) and the last 20% or so tells us how
we can make (magnetic style) structured water for our selves.
I sent e-mail to the address at the end of the article to see if they
still sell the water structuring kits. No reply yet.

I also did some searching for more info:

This is a general blurb about magnetized water:
http://www.healthlibrary.com/reading/yod/april/magnet.htm

Magnetized water is used in water circulation systems in industry
to reduce scale deposits on the inside of pipes and this article
is about tests to see if dental irrigation with magnetized water
will reduce plaque.
http://www.oxyfresh.com/Information/Dental_Products/calculus.txt

This is an invention disclosure about a particular gizmo for making
magnetized water. See if you can figure it out.
http://www.karelia.ru/~alexk/disclosure/disclouser2.htm

These are folks who sell products for magnetizing water for personal
use or for industry. They also try to tell us why we want magnetized
water.

Hey, don't laugh, or in this case, grin.

The proper balance of amino-pretzefoldahide and sloshihopsamine
enhances the effectiveness of the salt. The proper balance has
been determined to be approximately the ratio of 3 to 5
respectively.

It works for me, after 3 bags of pretzels and 5 cases of beer,
I'm ready for the fast.

Re: CS>Vortex made easy

1999-10-20 Thread THE TROLL
Hi James!

The article says to have the magnets on opposite sides of the
bottle and with one magnet having it's north pole facing the
water while the other magnet has it's south pole facing the
water.

That is what I did originally. The pepper plants and the
strawberry plant seemed to love it.

Since some folks magnetize water by placing it on the south
pole of a powerful magnet to make "south" water and also make
"north" water with the north pole, I am now setting up a system
to make gallons-at-a-time SOUTH water by having all the south
pole of the magnets facing the water.

Can't wait to see the results!

Re: CS>vortex

1999-10-20 Thread THE TROLL
Hi Folks!

I reread the article to see if I could find any clue to the
question about stirring in one container. It appears that there
is good news.

Here is a section of the article. I have emphasized parts.

-

Which of these methods will produce the maximum efficient structuring?
Lets look at the worst first. Simply putting the
water into a closed container, placing 2 magnets on either side
of the container and shaking vigorously for 1 minute will
produce a slight structuring - hardly enough to bother with.

The vortex combined with the magnetic field is the best.
Providing you remember to take into account the Zeta potential
- one of the 5 essential factors that determines a colloids
life and effectiveness. Too much of a magnetic charge can make
your structure (and its resulting colloid) almost worthless. In
between is the stirring method. Put the water into a cup or
glass and STIR IT WITH A MAGNET, SWIFTLY ENOUGH FOR A VORTEX
to form in the liquid. Stir for 30 seconds.
Let the water stand for 6 minutes at least. This produces
structuring four times better than the shaking method. REPEAT
REPEAT THE STIRRING METHOD AFTER THE FIRST SIX MINUTES AND YOU'LL MAKE
IT ALMOST AS GOOD AS THE FUNNEL METHOD, WHICH FOLLOWS.

With the funnel method you acquire a funnel that produces a
vortex of swirling of the water as it empties. Not all funnels
will do this. The swirl should be in a clockwise direction.
Attach one or two magnets to the outside of the funnel, on
opposite sides, down near the narrow end, with the positive
side and negative sides in toward the funnel. Pour the water
through the funnel (making sure of the swirling action). Let stand
at least 6 minutes and repeat. This method produces an
excellent structure, but it only works well if you're doing a
quart or more at a time.

The article also gives some clues as to how we might test to see if we
are doing anything right. I'm workin' on it.

Keep Drinkin' --- David

Hi Robert!

The magnets go on the cone-shaped (funnel-shaped?) part of the bottle
near the neck. This is where the vortex narrows down to
go into the neck and out.

At least, that is the way I have mine. I have not seen a setup,
just going by what I read in the structured water article.

CS>Geomagnetic poles

1999-10-18 Thread THE TROLL
Hi Again Folks!

I found the urls for the Earth's magnetic pole stuff.

If you go here:

 http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/seg/potfld/faqgeom.html

You get to the Frequently Asked Questions page and at some point, one of
the links on the page takes you to here:

http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/seg/potfld/img/faqpole.gif
where you can see the Earth's magnet is shown as up-side
down, the magnetic south pole is at the top.

I still haven't discovered their reasoning for this.

Re: CS>Magnet Poles, was magnet avail.

1999-10-18 Thread THE TROLL
HiHo Bob and list.

Yes, I understand all that.

You and I tend to figure that the that geophysical north is
at the same "end" of the earth as the Earth magnet's polarity
called north.

Apparently, much of Europe and U.S. scientific types say it is
just the opposite. The Earth's magnetic pole called "north" is located
in the southern hemisphere near the South geophysical
pole and the Earth's magnetic pole called "south' is in the northern
hemisphere near the North geophysical pole.
Consequently, they say the end of the compass needle that points to
geophysical north is the *north* end of the magnetic needle.

I have temporarily misplaced the urls where this idiocy can be seen, but
I'll keep looking.

So,now, do you see why I asked?

Hi Bob and List.

Bob --
If you brought the "north" pole of your magnet near a compass,
will the north-seeking end of the compass needle be attracted or
repelled?

There is confusion even in the scientific community about
whether the "North Magnetic Pole" is the "Magnetic North Pole"
or the "Magnetic South Pole" and it helps to qualify use of terms if we
relate to a magnetic compass.
