CS>'diaper' rash

2009-08-08 Thread Gina Moore
My daughter has had this rash on her bottom for a while now. It comes and
goes in severity, but never seems to completely go away. I've tried CS,
diaper creams and the like. She's been potty trained for over a month, but
does still wear diapers at night (until we run out), so I don't think it's
really a 'diaper' rash.

Anything else I should try on it? MMS? DMSO? A combo? I'm at a loss!

Thanks!

PT,

Make a cream out of virgin coconut oil, beeswax and lavander oil.   Melt the
beeswax, not much, just enough to make the coconut oil creamy, then add the
coconut oil, stirring vigorously until well mixed, then wait until it
gets cloudy, and then add  some lavander oil.  You may also add some lavander
oil in the container before transferring the cream.  This is great for diaper
rash.  Some disappear overnight including redness and rash.

I make this cream and it is good for burns, sun burns, wounds, facial cream,
moisturizer, etc.

I had something similar and I don't wear a diaper. It just kept hanging
on for over 2 weeks. Some days it was quite painful to sit. I got some
advise off Curezone. the first thing I did was take a hot sitz bath in Epsom
salt and hydrogen peroxide (she could use warm water). Then I applied
coconut oil on the area. OMG, in 2 days it was almost totally gone. Now I use
the coconut oil at first signs of heat rash or whatever.

Diaper rash cream with zinc oxide? need like 20% zinc oxide.
Had a bad rash on the top of my hands, nothing seemed to work, tried some

RE: CS>'diaper' rash

I guess it could be that, but she's only wearing them at night and they are
the 'pull up' kind. I would figure her being in panties all day would help,
but it hasn't. I refuse to buy more diapers. she's trained except at night!
I was just using up a pack I had already opened. This is the same brand
she's always worn, just the pull up version. Don't know if that makes a
difference or not! Will try no diapers, the coconut oil, epsom salt/hydro
perox bath and maybe the tea tree oil and see what happens. (not all at
once, of course!)

Thanks!

Hi Jane,

I would imagine more coconut oil and less beeswax. Since coconut oil is
readily absorbed I would think the beeswax is in there to give it some
staying power as well as being a moisture barrier. Coconut oil is a poor
moisture barrier for me. I am even thinking about adding a little
lanolin/cocoa butter since they are so healing.

They have a fairly new product here made from Olives as an emulsifier in cream
manufacture - which means you can add non oil based ingredients and make it
more "creamy" - olive oil and VCO just disappears into my skin or hair but VCO
does set so hard I thought too much Lavender Oil would be needed to make it
creamy enough for a baby's skin
