Hi Sandee, I should have been more accurate about my eye nostrums. CS is my garden-variety eye protection, wash, etc. It completely eliminated years of dry eye a few years ago. I had some very scary uveitis, which had taken 8 days to recede with some ophthalmolgical cream years ago, so, in my post-Lyme dx era, I opted (with great trepidation) for putting a few drops of DMSO into a full eye-dropper bottle of CS, to help deliver whatever was needed into the eyeball. My ophthalmologist was surprised 3 days later at how good my split-lamp exam went and gave my remedy his blessing for any future episodes. I've had only one episode since and caught the problem very quickly. Normally, I use only EIS/CS and never go anywhere without it. Oddly enough, the Fuch's cells are in charge of regulating fluids in that second layer of corneal cells, and Manuka both disperses excess fluid AND tackles dry-eye. (paradoxical, no?) Most people are born with enough Fuch's to last 150 years. Others are not and as they age, the cells die-off, without replenishing. This further burdens the remaining cells, which, as an ophthalmologist told me years ago, makes night-driving feel like driving with zip-lock baggies full of water taped to the windshield. Gradually, and after cataract removal, day time vision was hampered as well, with cloudiness and glare.My surgeon took 1.5 hrs per cataract procedure so as not to disturb the Fuch's any more than was necessary. (normally cataract removal is 9-15 min.) I'm so grateful for his meticulous care. Most days, I wear a wonderful big hat and wrap-around sunglasses for shopping, driving, etc. Fortunately, it's not a bad look on me, and with that amount of protection, I don't notice the cloudiness often enough to use the Manuka/DMSO CS mix. Rainy and humid days challenge this, making all my clouds and floaters more noticeable, so that I feel like I'm looking at the world through an aquarium. For a while, as a visual artist, I freaked out about losing my vision, and then realized that would only make things worse. Now, I try to do what I can and also give my eyes Reiki after every meditation for about 5 min. Hi Sandee, I haven't seen all of the K2 youtubery yet, but it's nice to know that what I've been taking is good. Nice to have a deeper understanding of its dynamics, too! I'd had trouble replacing my bottle of K locally but found Bronson's online. Bronson's Vitamin K Triple Play has: Phytonadione...100mg Menatetrenone...400mcg Menaquinone...50mg I take it at night along with two tabs of calcium,mag,& zinc. Throughout the day I take other minerals, especially magnesium and potassium, but had heard that K shepherds calcium to where it's useful, rather than problematic places. After breaking my ankle, I took that seriously. I figure with all the C I take, there aren't likely to be weak places in my blood vessels that would stimulate the patch-formation of plaque. Who knows? I wish I could keep all of this in my head. I'm interested to hear about your eye drops. I have Fuch's Endothelial dystrophy and after reading about Optimel drops from New Zealand, and having a short window of time to get my Fuch's numbers up before scheduled partial corneal transplant, I added Manuka Hoeny (their main ingredient) to my already-helpful CS/DMSO drops. My cornea specialist was very impressed with how much better that worked than the salt drops normally used that he's looking into it. Meanwhile, I'm not often as compliant as I should be, as the Manuka stings intensely (the Optimel folks mentioned this, too). I'm lucky this-all worked satisfactorily, as I now realize Lymies can't take the life-long anti-rejection meds that transplant would require, and the odds weren't very good even if that had been OK. THAT was an adventure!
