.4 uS would be 2/10ths of one PPM...or zero on your PPM meter. That's VERY good water. The best I've ever seen was .6 uS. Up to around 5 uS or 2 -3 PPM is usually OK, but that depends on what the contaminant is too. Basic rule: If you don't like what happened, change the water and see if it gets better. ode good, measuring 0.4 with my PWT. 0.4 would equal about 8ppm dissolved solids? Or am I wrong? BTW -- what would be the highest acceptable ppm of solids, for making CS? Regards, Phinneas -- The Silver List is a moderated forum for discussing Colloidal Silver. If you look into lab glass supply paces, you can get a distiller condensing tube that's all glass, water cooled and hook it up to your tea pot. If you have a pressure cooker, the nipple on top should make a direct connection. Shop around online too. They can be pricy or cheap. A company called Desti Labs has a nice-looking distiller for under 300 bucks. The ones below are inexpensive but lack the cooker, and seem to be all glass, meaning that they would be fragile. The Desti has glass tubes inside staineless steel, and is reputed to last a lifetime. Sounds like you have a handy neighbor who can help. Rain and dew is distilled water. Tends to pick up airborne crud, but it can work. But he used to be a moonshiner. :-) I also do understand that home variety may not be as good as commercial - but looks like I might have no choice.
