 Off topic for sure

I used to train fish into a corral made of stones by washing my dishes
and pots with sand.
All I had to do to get a fish is scrape a pot with a fork and take my
pick with a frog gig.
I caught a big Catfish bare handed by the tail once. It drug me around
till it wore ME out.

It won that one.
Used fish traps extensively, back in the day..usually got three fish in
one descending in size to a blue gill panfish.
One day I was hungry enough to trade a 30 cent .306 Enfield round for a big
ole trout and consider it a good deal. [ That was a whole days pay ]
My Grand Dad used to dynamite the lake for Fridays fish fry with half a
stick on a 2x4.
It didn't kill most of them and the non keepers would wake up in a few
minutes.

Game warden? Sometimes you wonder what they taste like. [Never saw one
way back there, or anyone else, sometimes for several months]

Most people are very noisy.

I still swear that woodchucks are made by Michelin...tenderness gauged by
tread wear rating scales.

How the heck do you deal with all the problems they have now? The two
types of mites, and hive beetles? I kept bees for decades when I was
younger, but gave up after the mites moved into the area, can't keep
they alive any more without chemicals.

Already ran those tests, about 5 years ago. Colloidal silver and honey
bees do not go together. The CS kills their gut bacteria which they
need for digestion, and you end up with bees engorged with honey that
die of starvation. Not a pretty sight.

Re: CSCruelty, No Definition

2008-10-22 Thread indi

The closest I get to that is feeding my dog and two cats and letting my
neighbors fish in the pond.

I know plants have feelings too, but I figure there's a reason I can
easily perceive the suffering of animals, while sensing the suffering of
plants usually requires some sort of technology to augment the senses.
My friend Roy (also vegetarian) can coax bass to come to the surface and
take bread balls right out of his hand. I call him the fish whisperer.
Fish may have unimpressive looking brains, but there's something more
than we suspect going on in there... Even with humans, there is a
complex nerve center near the heart which some studies suggest may be
as important as the brain for what we think of as human consciousness.
