The closest I get to that is feeding my dog and two cats and letting my
neighbors fish in the pond. 

I know plants have feelings too, but I figure there's a reason I can
easily perceive the suffering of animals, while sensing the suffering of
plants usually requires some sort of technology to augment the senses.
My friend Roy (also vegetarian) can coax bass to come to the surface and
take bread balls right out of his hand. I call him the fish whisperer.
Fish may have unimpressive looking brains, but there's something more
than we suspect going on in there... Even with humans, there is a
complex nerve center near the heart which some studies suggest may be
as important as the brain for what we think of as human consciousness.
