RE: CSRe: Glutathione uptake

2003-04-11 Thread Ivan Anderson
Hi Roe,

I have given colloidal silver to my daughter for the last 5 years (she
is now 9yrs old), but not constantly. She gets to spray her sinus and
gargle if she feels a cold coming on, but that is not very often.

 Subject: CSRe: Glutathione uptake

Hello.. my name is Roe and I am new to this list. I have
 been using CS for
myself for about a year or so, but only the store bought.
 I am planning on
making my own in the near future because I am considering
 using for my son
 and husband.

I am posting back about glutathione because I have run into
 the oral being
wasteful in doing research for my son, who has autism. I
 have, for about
the last 9 months been giving my son glutathione
 suppositories just about
every night. I have seen some improvement in his health
 and connectiveness
to the world as a result of this. I have also been
 treating for things like
parasites, yeast, etc for him and feel that this is really
 key for his
 continued improvement.

My 1st question is... have people used cs on their
 children? My son is 7
yrs old and weighs about 78 pounds and is 4 feet 5 inches
 tall. If you have
used it, what kind of protocal is used?

 Thanks for any feedback!

 Roe

Hi Duncan
I got lost (again) ...
You are saying there are 4 types of glutathione, but
then you are saying GSH and GPx are the most important
forms. I didn't know there are so many types of
glutathione (do you have any basic papers on that?)
and second which is abbreviated by GSH? I thought GSH
= glutathione?

Cumin may increase glutathione by 700% from what
 level? Note in the study
 that follows, GST was increased an AVERAGE of 78%;
 it is the form of
glutathione increased by several foods including
 cumin, however GSH and
GPx are arguably more important glutathione forms as
 they are used in
much greater quantities in the body.

The limiting factor to glutathione production is
 cystine and cysteine-
containing molecules, and also selenium in the case
 of GPx. Without the
precursors present the cells can not make
 glutathione so these precursors
will remain the limiting factor for four forms of
 glutathione.

Not addressing precursor availability would be
 similar in a way, to
increasing liver function potential with bitter
 herbs or drugs while
ignoring hepatic stones that block the bile flow
 and necessitate the
 recirculation of toxic waste produced.

I found only three peer-reviewed studies in a search
 on cumin AND
 glutathione. Here's the most applicable:

Plant products as protective agents against cancer.

 Aruna K, Sivaramakrishnan VM.

Out of various spices and leafy vegetables screened

 glutathione-S-transferase (GST) in
Swiss mice, cumin seeds, poppy seeds, asafoetida,
 turmeric, kandathipili,
neem flowers, manathakkali leaves, drumstick leaves,
 basil leaves and
ponnakanni leaves increased GST activity by more
 than 78% in the stomach,
liver and oesophagus, - high enough to be considered
 as protective agents
against carcinogenesis. Glutathione levels were also
 significantly
elevated in the three tissues by these plant
 products. All of them except
neem flowers, significantly suppressed (in vivo) the
 chromosome
aberrations (CA) caused by benzo(a)pyrene in mouse
 bone marrow cells.
Multiple CA and exchanges reflecting the severity of
 damage within a cell
were significantly suppressed by these nine plant
 products. The results
suggest that these nine plant products are likely to
 suppress
carcinogenesis and can act as protective agents
 against cancer.

Hi Maia;

You can look up each form of glutathione readily on Medline...

Each glutathione, and each antioxidant, has a specific function that it
performs best.

Dr.Jimmy Gutman's book, Glutathione Your Body's Most Powerful Healing
Agent is a good start on glutathione, with piles of peer-reviewed
references. That material on Medline is more organized in the book.

Glutathione nd all the other antioxidants are covered fully in Dr. White
and Dr. McLeod's bood The Miracle of Antioxidants.

Both books are written as refernces; I use them both in my workshops.

Oral glutathione is wasteful. GSH is absorbed at less than 10% orally but
breathing it via aerosol you do get good local-only absorption in the lungs
or sinuses. This has been in the medical research for years.

Imagine the good it would do if the people didn't waste 90% of their
glutathione increase.
I treat the whole client by giving the precursors and allowing the cells to
do their job and produce their own. Then you don't miss any cells.

cheers
