Yes, I was also surprised to find very little on the site. I wondered
whether perhaps their site has changed, or whether it exists elsewhere in
another form.It is an Australian site, but I recall that they do export
these, and there are sure to be imitations in most countries nowadays. Here
though, people normally buy these in an electrical appliance store.

Here is a link that may be convenient for people living in America:

- this seems to be the same sort of thing, with prices ranging from $57
upwards to $90-odd.. Deni is one name I see, also Fujitrinic, Sunpentown,
and there must be more available. I don't know anything about these,
though, only the Australian Easy Cook Turbo Oven.

Hope you find a suitable one.

RE: CSTabletop glass oven: was How to live without a microwave

2006-04-18 Thread Jim Holmes
From Easy-Cook:

Hi Jim
Model 737 (110 volt) to USA
$AUD348.95 (includes Airmail insurance costs)
Payment by credit card prior to dispatch.

Regards
Customer Service
Easy Cook Pty Ltd
ph 61 2 9676 3489
fax 61 2 9676 6628

That converts to about 247 US. Ouch. The quality and design looks superior
to anything I have compared it with on e-bay, but the price is very much
higher.

I suspect it is worth the extra price, based on qualityl

This model looks very similar to the Aroma Turbo Cooker. You can find it at
Mercola.com. Don't
remember the price, but since it's U.S.-based, maybe it will be less money.

Re: CSTabletop glass oven: was How to live without a microwave

2006-04-17 Thread Rowena
That is very cool. I live in a propane/solar home, and anytime I can use
electricity instead of LPG I save money.
I have been looking for something like this for a year or so.
Thank you, Jim

Re. the Easycook - I used mine very hard for years and years before it wore
out. Then I bought a bigger one, the electronic model. The smaller one
with its new lid is also used regularly. The electronic one can be set to
go for hours, the clockwork timers only go for an hour, but seem a bit
more robust. However, I notice they do have quite a long guarantee time on
the electronic model. One thing I have considered doing is getting a second
top for the larger oven so I can have either a clockwork model or the
electronic one, depending on what I'm doing. Or one could have a clean
one and a messy one for cooking things that splash a lot.

One thing I would definitely do, and that is get the little extension collar
to put around the top of the glass part so you can put taller items of food
in. It is a metal ring which fits the glass one side and the lid on the
other. The glass will go in the dishwasher, or you can just wash it in the
sink or put water in it and switch on for the fan to swirl the water around.
