I've always understood lead is in all crystal glassware, quantity dependant on 
manufacturer.

I brewed a batch in a crystal jug years ago and it turned tea coloured in a 
very short time.  I assumed electrolysis of the silver interacted with the lead 
in the crystal?  Was always going to repeat the exercise to satisfy myself one 
way or tuther, but never have.

My understanding is that there is lead crystal which is manufactured with lead 
and then there is crystal manufactured without it.  I think the terminology has 
become less precise over the years so it might be wise to check.

I won't be making silver water in it but still drinking fruit juice may not
be smart.  I can't remember where I saw something on lead in crystal years
ago and tried to do some research online last week.  I saw a sale on it and
wondered if it's worth any health risk.

Marshall, thank you for this. I just hit all my glasses with a fork.
everyone makes a ring sound even the plain cheap juice glasses that have no
prism or crystal appearance.  I shined the flashlight on heavy wine glasses
I've had for years and they seem to make the highest pitch ring sound.   I
thought there would be some type of test.

My general advice is that you use borosilicate glass for brewing that way you 
can significantly minimise the effects of anything leeching into the water and 
other interactions that may occur.

Yeah, I used that for a short time, kept breaking and cracking on my due to my 
ham fistedness...LOL.
That stuff is too fragile for my rough and tumble handling.  If they could make 
that glass quarter of an inch thick I would consider going back to it g.
