True.

In his day, Pauling created a good deal of controversy by fulfilling his
perceived obligation to apply scientific knowledge to public safety. He
recalled an early manifestation of government suspicion: "A couple of days
after my talk, there was a man in my office from the FBI saying, 'Who told
you how much plutonium there is in an atomic bomb?' And I said, 'Nobody
told
me. I figured it out.'" . Some go so far as to say that
vitamin

C is carcinogenic in large quantities, and that Pauling has no truly
scientific basis for his advocacy. Pauling, in turn, contended that his
only
opponents were doctors whose livelihood depended on pharmaceutical sales
in

"the sickness industry"-Pauling's name for medicine in the United States.
Linus Pauling was diagnosed with cancer in 1991, and died August
19, 1994, at his ranch in Big Sur, California. In addition to work that
has

permanently improved the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, and peace
activism, he leaves a simple statement of resounding encouragement to his
admirers: "You can contribute, and you can't be sure how great your
contribution is, but you can contribute, so do it."
http://www.harvardsquarelibrary.org/unitarians/pauling.html

PAULING: Oh yes! I think that the public as a whole responded better to
the

statements that Cameron and I or Hoffer and I were making than the medical
establishment. Ten years ago people were telling me, "I told my doctor I
was

taking a gram of vitamin C per day or three grams of vitamin C per day and
he said 'You mustn't do that, that'll kill you, those vitamins are
poisonous.'" Five years ago people began reporting to me, "I told the
doctor

I was taking several grams of vitamin C per day and he said, 'Well, that
won't hurt you. Go ahead if you want to. It probably won't do any good.
But

if you want to take it, go ahead.'" Today, of course, doctors are apt to
say "That's fine, perhaps it is doing good for you," especially when the
patient shows up in much better shape than the doctor had expected and
says,
"I think the reason is high doses of vitamin C and vitamin E and so on
that

I've been taking." Doctors tend to agree with that point of view now. I
don't know to what extent doctors take the initiative in prescribing
vitamins for their seriously ill patients. But I think many of them are at
least open to it now. I think it's likely that the future
generations will think of me as the "vitamin C man." And of course I don't
think of myself in that way. For 20 years I've just been repeating
statements that Stone, and to some extent Szent-Gyorgyi himself, had made
about the great value of high doses of vitamin C and other vitamins. But
Szent-Gyorgyi, who discovered vitamin C and first isolated it in 1927, was
not a very vigorous advocate of megavitamins. Hoffer and Humphrey Osmond,
M.D., much later became the principal advocates of high doses of vitamin C
and niacin for schizophrenic patients--doses that were 500 or 1,000 times
as

great as the RDA.12 And I was much impressed by what Hoffer and Osmond
wrote, as well as by Stone's analysis of the situation with respect to
vitamin C.
http://members.aol.com/realmedia/pauling.html Pauling's last interview

It is interesting to speculate what further discoveries Pauling might have
made had he not been deflected from his goals by shortsighted,
self-serving,

mercenary, or jealous opponents. He never, however, became embittered. In
one of his last interviews (April 1, 1994), in response to our question as
to how he was able to retain his positive outlook on life, he told us, "I
suppose it's partially genetic ... actually the result of my having been
pretty successful in my own career, and, of course, my feeling that we
ought

to be smart enough, we human beings, to solve our problems, whatever they
are."

http://chemeducator.org/bibs/0004005/00040332.htm

Finally, after he had said the Mayo Clinic has shown that vitamin C has no
value in the treatment of cancer, I said that Mayo Clinic study was a
fraud.

And I can explain just how. The Mayo Clinic people didn't follow the
procedure that Dr. Ewan Cameron used at all. They say that they did, but
they didn't. We know that they didn't. So you can't rely on that. Finally,
he became interested. .. And I have gotten hundreds of letters
from

people, including physicians

2005-10-27 Thread sol
Hmm, we are getting pretty far off topic here, but from a personal
experience a death certificate that lists pneumonia as cause of death
may not always be quite accurate, except literally, as pneumonia
developed as the person was already dying. My own mother died of COPD
and the resultand enlarged heart plus Binswanger's disease, and was in
organ failure on her last day, kidneys shut down, and so forth. Yet her
death certificate says she died of pneumonia. In the end most deaths
could probably be called heart failure or pneumonia. Your organs fail,
the lungs fill up, your heart stops, and you're dead, alright. What made
you sick enough for your kidneys to fail and heart to stop may never be
stated in the certificate.

But geez, folks if Pauling made it to 94, he did pretty damned good.

You can make your own. Just remember that l level teaspoon of salt
in a pint of water =0.9% saline, the base for many IV fluids. You
can boil this in the microwave. I would put another jar,say a
small babyfood jar filled with water in the microwave too, boil
both l0 minutes. What ever evaporates from the jar with the salt
won't matter, or you can put some from the babyfood jar over into
it. When the water is mostly cool, pour a small amount, maybe l/4
cup, of the saline water into the sterilized babyfood jar. Add the
amount of C you want, let it dissolve. Now you have sterile IV
fluid with C. Susie

Also some long term catheters break down under repeated heparin dosing; I
think you have to be aware of what catheter you have and the patient.

To be honest with you we have never had a problem with our doctors regarding
alternative treatments. If I have needed something, I explained what I was
trying and I asked them for help and I got it with instructions.

Find a doctor who will work with you if possible.

It is legal. I have been giving my husband IVs for 3 years now sometimes 4 a
day. He has MRSA and osteomylitis. I got my equipment from a visiting nurse.
Heparin is Dangerous and I just use a saline flush. If the needle coagulates I
just throw it out and have a nurse put in a new "peripheral".

Use new needless syringes EACH time and flush before and after. At least 1
full syringe before and after

he said 'You mustn't do that, that'll kill you, those vitamins are
poisonous.'" Five years ago people began reporting to me, "I told the doctor
I was taking several grams of vitamin C per day and he said, 'Well, that
won't hurt you. Go ahead if you want to. It probably won't do any good. But
if you want to take it, go ahead.'" Today, of course, doctors are apt to
say "That's fine, perhaps it is doing good for you," especially when the
patient shows up in much better shape than the doctor had expected and says,
"I think the reason is high doses of vitamin C and vitamin E and so on that
I've been taking." Doctors tend to agree with that point of view now. I
don't know to what extent doctors take the initiative in prescribing
vitamins for their seriously ill patients.
Hoffer and Humphrey Osmond,
M.D., much later became the principal advocates of high doses of vitamin C
and niacin for schizophrenic patients--doses that were 500 or 1,000 times as
great as the RDA.12 And I was much impressed by what Hoffer and Osmond
wrote, as well as by Stone's analysis of the situation with respect to
vitamin C.
http://members.aol.com/realmedia/pauling.html Pauling's last interview

It is interesting to speculate what further discoveries Pauling might have
made had he not been deflected from his goals by shortsighted, self-serving,
mercenary, or jealous opponents. He never, however, became embittered. In
one of his last interviews (April 1, 1994), in response to our question as
to how he was able to retain his positive outlook on life, he told us, "I
suppose it's partially genetic ... actually the result of my having been
pretty successful in my own career, and, of course, my feeling that we ought
to be smart enough, we human beings, to solve our problems, whatever they
are."

http://chemeducator.org/bibs/0004005/00040332.htm

Finally, after he had said the Mayo Clinic has shown that vitamin C has no
value in the treatment of cancer, I said that Mayo Clinic study was a fraud.
And I can explain just how. The Mayo Clinic people didn't follow the
procedure that Dr. Ewan Cameron used at all. They say that they did, but
they didn't. We know that they didn't. So you can't rely on that. Finally,
he became interested. .. And I have gotten hundreds of letters from
people, including physicians, asking for more information about vitamin C
for controlling cancer, but also sending information about how long they
have been able to control their cancer by taking perhaps 36 grams a day, day
after day. Or in the case of this one man, a chemist in San Jose working for
IBM, taking 130 grams a day. I wasn't the first to say it either.
Other people had been advocating vitamin C for controlling the common cold
and cancer and other diseases back starting 50 years ago. I do feel
satisfaction in thinking that I have been able to contribute to this, what I
think is a great

Excellent point. There is some thinking that cancer is a natural occurrence
gone wild and that it is not if we will al get cancer but when. If something
does not get you earlier you will get cancer.

Pauling died of Prostate cancer at 93.

His first wife died of cancer which sent him on the quest for a cure and into
his Vitamin C studies.

No one can say how long Pauling had prostate cancer and if the Vitamin C
prolonged his life-93 is well past the average life expectancy of US males.

You can make your own. Just remember that l level teaspoon of salt
in a pint of water =0.9% saline, the base for many IV fluids. You can boil this
in the microwave. I would put another jar,say a small babyfood jar filled with
water in the microwave too, boil both l0 minutes. What ever evaporates from the
jar with the salt won't matter, or you can put some from the babyfood jar over
into it. When the water is mostly cool, pour a small amount, maybe l/4 cup, of
the saline water into the sterilized babyfood jar. Add the amount of C you
want, let it dissolve. Now you have sterile IV fluid with C. Susie

It is legal. I have been giving my husband IVs for 3 years now sometimes 4 a
day. He has MRSA and osteomylitis. I got my equipment from a visiting nurse.
Heparin is Dangerous and I just use a saline flush. If the needle coagulates
I just throw it out and have a nurse put in a new "peripheral".

Use new needless syringes EACH time and flush before and after. At least 1
full syringe before and after

In fact, I've thrown ours out due to info such as this:
http://www.relfe.com/microwave.html

(I used the power supply and controls to make Duncan's High voltage
pulsating DC colloidal silver maker.)

I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot
more as they get older, then it dawned on me .they're cramming for
their final exam.

You can make your own. Just remember that l level teaspoon of salt in a pint
of water =0.9% saline, the base for many IV fluids. You can boil this in the
microwave. I would put another jar,say a small babyfood jar filled with
water in the microwave too, boil both l0 minutes. What ever evaporates from
the jar with the salt won't matter, or you can put some from the babyfood
jar over into it. When the water is mostly cool, pour a small amount, maybe
l/4 cup, of the saline water into the sterilized babyfood jar. Add the
amount of C you want, let it dissolve. Now you have sterile IV fluid with C.
