Re: [Simh] cant get windows motiff to work logging in remotely

2018-05-14 Thread Timothe Litt
As I wrote previously, it's likely the MIT Magic cookie.

See xhost and xauth man pages for info on what you need to do (on the
server) to allow the VAX to connect.

If you have a firewalled environment, you may get sufficiently
frustrated to do the dangerous

xhost +

(Which turns off authentication by the server.)

However, that's entirely at your own risk, and I never suggested it.

Re: [Simh] simh not loading the video driver when compile with libcbl-dev

2018-05-14 Thread Mark Pizzolato
Hi Phil,

Dave suggested how DECWindows is started when the system boots, but it isn’t
clear that you done everything else that might be necessary for that to be
useful.

You mention libcbl-dev, but I’ve never heard of that. Maybe you’ve mistyped
something.

A little more information will be useful to help you:

1) Please provide the output produced when you built the simulator you are
working with.

2) Please provide the configuration file you are using to setup and run
your simulator

3) Please provide the output produced when you enter SHOW VERSION at the
“sim> “ prompt when running the simulator in question.

interestingly enough the pdp8 simulator seems fine. At least with rx devices

interestingly enough the pdp8 simulator seems fine. At least with rx devices

Re: [Simh] MIT PDP-11/45 TK vector display

2018-05-14 Thread Lars Brinkhoff
AI memo 240 describes the registers and the display list instruction
format. See appendix A.

[Simh] MIT PDP-11/45 TK vector display

2018-05-14 Thread Lars Brinkhoff
Hello,

One of the MIT LOGO implementations used to run on a PDP-11/45 with some
number of "TK" vector displays attached. I don't think they had an
official name, but they were made by Tom Knight.

There is a game called Dazzle Dart which uses this display. Here is a
description of the game: http://www.kaleberg.com/dazzle/dazzle.html. I
have source code for the game, and Hal Abelson which is one of the
authors has granted permission to release it.

I'd like to gague if there's any interest in adding support to SIMH for
this display? I don't have time myself, but I'll provide help. At this
point, there's no documentation for the hardware interface; maybe Tom
Knight has something. There's a PDP-10 simulator for the display, so
maybe that can be a source of information.
